I got sidetracked with Demigod and now Eve
Hack78
Quoting Hack78, reply 42 I remember playing a game where KoK did his HC rush on me. He lost when I got a starbase up and it stalled him on the planet were were fighting over. Put up a second one on the planet I was coming from and he couldn't get past... He quit if I recall... As per any strategy, it only works when you execute it correctly and quickly enough/on someone who wasn't aware of what was
So this is basically spacebattles.com in Sins?
Nice Necro - this was dead for almost a year...

Failure to do that = gg.
Maybe it is taking so long because there are a lot of differences to report back due to such a large version difference???
Everything I have ever seen, especially from The Monk (most awesome networking guru to grace stardock forums) has said it is P2P. Why did they have issues with the hosting prior to alloy in 1.1???
Your caps lock broken?
Another poster (on page 3 or something) once related a MP fight, they bluffed, sending a quick large fleet early in game to flatten another empire. They didn't win the war in those short stomp battles, and had the newbie persisted at the rate they were building (and not just quit the game) they could have steamrolled the veteran as they had nothing else. I imagine this is 75% of MP battles to be honest.
Then you imagine wrong. Most newbs/noobs quit as they face a fleet
I think you need a fundermental lesson in networking vs game design theory. 1) All a cross over cable does is allow 2 computers to talk without having a router or switch between them (they swap the cable internally). A cross over cable has a wire swapping internally so pin A on machine 1 links to pin B on machine 2. If you are running a network it is not required and most switches/routers are smart enough these days to handle someone plugging in a cross over cable 2) Sins AND
You must have gone at a bad time - in peak time there are always people wanting a game. Of course they may choose not to game with people they don't know - if a skilled game is hosted, unknown people are often not allowed into it as they cannot keep up, quit early and ruin it for everyone by making numbers unbalanced...
The one issue with Freelancer is you play it for ages and then poof - story is over and there is no more content - just doing the trade/freelance missions. Also the graphics are probably aging - it is 5-6 years old. But it was (is?) a great game...
But support ships are not damage dealers, so the wave upgrade tree would still (basically) only affect caps and enforcers. As TEC you don't research lasers to power-up a hoko
Actually that is often the ship I get the upgrade for - I am more likely to have have 20+ of them in a fleet then cobalts... So I get that one to make the fleet a little more dangerous. Plus I get upgrade to SB and caps as well...
You need to expand quicker - make sure you get the planet upgrades that remove the tax penalty. Many new players miss that and tax themselves out of the game as they have no income (sometimes even negative...)
Ryan does play most - they he DOES seem to favour Erb. And is possibly starting to get his head around The Rook... ;)
Just don't post - it is safer!!!
I don't understand why everyone is bitching so much... It's really simple to change an entity file...If it's so unbalanced, then go in and balance it the way you want... end of problem.
Then you don't understand how the game works - P2P, checksums etc... As stated - the changes HAVE to be universal for MP to work...
Still waiting...
Vanilla Sins exe vs Entrenchment exe - they are two DIFFERENT programs. The vanilla one has an option to launch entrenchment. Ent cannot launch vanilla
Basically the sooner you figure out they're going for HC the better. If you see they have 4(+) military labs they are definately going HC... even 3 military labs is a fair warning.
BS - that can just mean carriers and hoshikos!!!
The OS on my new computer is 64 bit. Might that have something to do with it?
Nope - I run Vista Ultimate 64 at home with IE 7 and it is fine. At my new job I have IE7 (on XP) and I have issues clicking on some threads to view latest - I get a very small horizontal scroll bar showing... Weird
Fighters (from carriers) are good vs scouts. LF are also fairly good at taking them down, but not very good with LRM pressent
You can only see/join a game that matches the version you are playing - hence vanilla cannot see join entrenchment and entrenchment cannot see/join vanilla. However u can see in the top right that people are logged in and that a game is available (ergo u need to switch exe)
??? wtf does that even mean protelari
"I want some attention, so I am posting on the forums!!!" :)
I used to be able to win with Vassari. Now I can hardly avoid being rolled. Have I lost my touch, has the community gotten that much better or has the patching screwed them over??? I can't counter illums as it is with my LRF, and the advent have better econ then vassari (and don't give me the neutral BS - that is a hit an miss proposition - advent always have good econ due to the prog colony abiliity) The weapon issue just becomes more relavent now as the vassari struggle more
