Why shouldn't the first planet have those kinds of defenses??? It makes you earn such a valuable planet. And if you get lucky you only have 1 of the following Kodiak Krosov Garda LRM Cobalt Easy picking for a undamaged lvl 1 cap ship...

Get 1.05
I was playing a 4v4 game last night The starting setup was similar to below - X = enemy -A = ally (bad diagram, but close enough) (1) > A-Blue(1) A-Green (2) > X - Yellow &
It doesn't - only the tactical and logistics ones do Generally logistical will give you one extra (and only one) and each tactical upgrade will also give you one per upgrade, to get 4 (going on memory for the last bit).
Failing that, you can join a game that others are hosting. The only real benefit with hosting is that you can get some wins you wouldn't otherwise get due to being the last one in, or people quitting on you when you are beating them :) Just get the game - it is great!!!
Bad luck - will catch you online soon with 1.1 though - just hope you can handle the wait!!!
And for fleet research you only need a research station - type does not matter. But you need to research the prior one for fleet and cap crew before you can get the next one. Or at the very least, have the prior one scheduled for research...
I think you will find that the list is a piece of paper on the person's computer desk - I played a 3v3 game (think the map was Krosac's cross (is that right?? - at work so can't lok it up) that was competitive but we lost - I got told the host would never play with me again and that I sucked. I just shrugged and figured we were outplayed by a better team...
You still need to open correct ports etc... to play as well as host - read The Monk's guide before asking anything else - if it doesn't help you I am sure someone will be willing to help you further (not wanting to be rude - just that it does tell most people all they need to know without them needing to ask further questions - so may save you waiting for people to respond on the forums when you could be playing :)).
If you are in the US you will be OK At night for me (Australia) is a bit light on - but during the day on the weekend (which is evening/night in the US) there are normally enough people. And of course, if you can host you are generally sure of a game :)
Imagine a newbie logging on only to run into Raging Amish!!! :) Not to mention the time taken to do research and build a fleet - 5 colbalts vs a 2000point fully researched fleet!!!
Funny you said that about King - he is a good player but will blame people on his team when he looses. There is also another guys who I will call "chocolate coloured USA crocodile" (people will know who he is if they have met him) - he has got a seriously bad rep with people - I was hosting a 5v5 game and certain people on the opposite team did not want him on their team as they have seen him quit at the first sign of trouble. Of course he then goes on to quit when I start attacking his
Have you setup your ports on your router??? I had the same issue when I first tried to go online. After a 5 second "huh" period followed by a flick through the manual, I quickly jumped online. I read the FAQ and was in within 5 minutes. Alternatively read the sins networking guide by The Monk
It's not that I hate the current stuff (e.g. Simpsons, Futurama etc...) - just that they have ruined the concept trying to mix and match gimicks to maximise toy sales - e.g. transforming Star Wars Characters etc...
While your figures probably are correct (I haven't done the maths - will take your word) there is one extra factor in play here - the range at which a ship can fire. LRMS will get the first shot off assuming they are correctly orientated, even though the scouts will be able to quickly close the gap. They may end up with more DPS, but the starting hull/shield values will be lower the that of fully intact scouts once the scouts first shots off. Never the less, I am more mindful of how I can us
If they are the counter - why did I own the guys who sent a fleet of scouts to my roid in a MP game a few weeks back? Iron Man was laughing and the guy didn't stick around long afterwards as I rolled him
Turrets for the AI maybe work, for human players they are a waste of time generally.
signed - the ability to talk in the game lobby and be getting ready to host a game would be good since you can invite people and get ready for the game without missing what is going on in the other channel.
Too little too late - I might have bought it if it didn't have the DRM, but now I have moved on to Sins!!!
Original Transformers!!!! Original He-Man Original TMNT As opposed to the crap version that exist now where everything has been intermixed and lost it's direction. The only universies that have ever combined well was the Alien and Predator ones - and then the 2nd Predator movie alludes to the fact they exist in each other's universe... There were some great books I read at school around this.
The point of Gateway is to get to the other system to secure a safe star system with lots of resouces. Hence there is a fight over it. If they started in the other system you wouldn't have a fight for an hour while everyone built a fleet and did the research
So you want to compare a 10 year old 2D RTS game with a new 3D (kinda) 4X RTS??? Well, I guess they kind of are the same - 3 races. Both use keyboard and mouse. And you have to build stuff and collect resouces. You're right - why did I waste money on Sins when I could go and find Star Craft!!!
Your first mistake is trying to secure enough planets to get going - you need to balance building a fleet and colonising Second one I see is that you are building turrets - turrets are good at defending structures, but not planets. Put that money into ships instead. You complain about the size of the enemies forces, but think about the cost of 3 turrets at colonised 3 planets (plus your homeworld) - that is just about the cost of the second cap there (without the research for the extra crew)
Leave the TV free for someone else while you are playing games - my finace won't let me play games and have the TV (unless Xbox 360 is on, and then I have to time it right...)
Yes - you can save a game and resume it later. The issue is getting everyone together to resume the game. Not an issue if you are playing with a friend against AI, but can be difficult when playing with random people online.
