EA ruins all gaming platforms, PC or console! Piracy is an issue with all things software related. I am a big fan of steam and its methods, and hope it is a nice step to not only bring games more convenient to gamers, but make money to all parties involved!! Business is after all, about making a living off the work that you do, plus a little extra for doing something special every now and then!!! Bugs, yes they suck! I myself do not buy a game that I have not spent time playing a ver
I am sorry to have to ask this question but it is driving me crazy. Why is it when you go into battle and select every ship you have (ALT and click) then attack one target such as a capital ship I will lose (I am not kidding) around 100 ships of different types? This will be on a planet with no defence (just crystal and metal extractors). I admit it was a level 8 but there must be a less expensive way to destroy a ship. I must be doing some
You need to build some turrets, essentially. They're big and tough. It's generally a pretty good idea to try and lure the enemy forces closer to the turrets with your local ships so they'll get chewed up as they attack you.If you can time it so you outbid your opponent just before the first waves launch, you'll save yourself a lot of grief. As for economy, before the first pirate wave triggers, you should have had sufficient time to build a capital ship and take over an asteroid. Here's a

vs computer, i try to win the pirate bidding the first 3 times or so until i have a second cap ship (and some other defenses) i can park in the back to mop up the pirates. You want to save a nice 500 credits for the first raid, be the first to bid, and keep the pirates window open. Yes you ignore everything else short of the enemy attacking you to win the pirates bid the first few times. Being the first to bid is key, bidding to 250 first will keep the pirates eye on that target unti
Interesting. I accord that carrier are well balanced. But, for defensive strike craft, Advent get the Award, having 3 rather than 2 squadrons per hangar.
NO! 3 strike craft at a cost of 6 tac points vs 2 strike for tec/adv for 4 tac points. add in the fact you need a monster 200 metal and i believe 110 crystal vs 120/70 for tech. so at 12 tach spots you get 6 sc each, but advent costs 400/220 and tech is 360/210... add in the fact each hanger only builds 1 fig

1. I usually skip the Percheron. Hoshikos are A+ and i dont make any offensive fleet without 10-15 or so, fleet depending. Main advantage of Tec's are armor and hull points upgrades are cheap. You want to get yourself 4-6 of each. Hoshikos are most effective then. Because of these upgrades, the flak and Heavyy Cruiser can take a beating before they die. The heavy cruisers should be the heart and soul of your attack fleet. While Perchorons are okay in numbers of 4-8, they die too e

That fleet is solid, but I dont like Sova's. My favorite Tec fleet was 2 Dunovs 1 Kol (highest level and fleet leader) 1 Akkan 20 Kodiacs 10 Hoshikos 10 Flak Frigates 5 Cielos Kol is the best cap ship, able to take massive abuse, has abilities to smash cap ships, strike craft, and has finest hour. Akkan is there to mostly disable cap ships when opossing fleet retreats, you can stop the cap ship cold and gang up on it by itself. The 2 Dunovs are

LOL nice fleet. :D Computer always runs when you have a bigger fleet, but will stay and fight if you have a smaller fleet. What it doesnt do is realize if you have 3 repair stations, several hangars, and a small fleet, you can chip away at their fleet for a long time before they decide to run. Easy defense tips. Always have 2-4 repair stations, recomended 3 that are on the edges of each's repair radius. Put all your hangars, lrms and light carriers inside the area that a

I read this post and thought about it for a day. Anyone try to use guass defense platforms stacked with multiple repair stations? Give them a range boost and park your fleet behind them, guardians will think twice before walking into 75+ dps. Is it me or the defense cannons and repair stations under used. Cant laugh at 3000+ hps, 20 dps for a cheap 250 credits and 1 tac slot. Oh yea, armor rating of 12? Fully upgraded repair station gives a hefty 40 hp's/sec. Stack 3 repairs togeth
#1 I'd like things to blow-up in a better way, let's say capital ship blows-up and leaves a huge, drifting hull.#2 More control over my fleet, add patrol, targets priority (like 'attack the strongest'), 'retreat when hull points below...', 'protect this unit', etc.
I like both the ideas here. I would like a better macro way to control fleet logistics. One squable i have with LRM's is they need to be baby sat otherwise other fleets run up and crush them. I build my flee

Takes a good 3-4 planets to make trade ports worth the money. 2850 cred's for the first trade port (1500 for two civics, the 600 research and 750 for first port) to yeild an extra 1.2 creds a sec is steep. I find upgrading your terrain homeworld to max pop yields an extra 2-3 creds a second for a cheaper credit price cost(the 225/225 metal and crystal are high tho). My initial build order is usually capital factory, crystal ex, 2 metal ex, 2 scouts, 1 colony, 1 akkon. By the time the

It has probably been asked before, but what does everyone want to see in the next expansion. Ideally 1 new thing or 1 thing tweaked. I want to add a new tab (f4) trading. Take trading off the constant income and make each ship only cash out when it comes in to port in your territory! Make it interesting, add 3-4 neutral trade ports scattered over the map (in asteroid fields) that give higher returns but obviously are more dangerous (other empires might park cap ships

2 civics first off is a must, unless you need to pickoff an enemy really fast. Researching ice and volcano planets in order you wish to colonize is a gimmie. Trade ports should be built within having 3 colonies or so. With trade active and just a modest crystal income, most 1st level techs should be taken, especially on the military tree and on the resource gathering. My personal play style says get the flak frigates when you have 3-4 colonies with 2 civic and 2-3 military, then th

Big trade lanes give trade bonuses, so i am a fan of 1 trade port per planet. Any more than that per planet and you are pulling resources from your fleet, which will help you get more planets, therefore only hurting your longterm trade income anyways. Every planet I have 1 trade port and 1 broadcast center, period. Front line planets will have a frigate factory, every 4-5 planets will have another cap ship factory, and then I like to fill out my reseach, usually 2 a planet. If you ha

Choke point strategy. 1. Always put a frigate factory in a choke point! Keep yourself with some spare Fleet logistic points to refill the ships fighting. I have to assume 2 things when you talk about this. First is you cant have your main force rush back every time 3 cap ship fleets attack, and second your tactical slots will be 35+ for a planetary choke. If it is just an asteroid, you may have to park additional cap ships and/or frigates to hold the spot. max th

Depends on map size and number of desired fleets. My base strategy midgame is have 3-4 hangers, 2 repair stations on each planet. 1 sweeping defense fleet and 1 base attack fleet. The defense fleet has an akon or sova, usually sova with 5+ Garda's. The defense fleet should be reinforced with frigate factories no more than 1 hop away. My main force will have 1 Kol, 1 Marza and 1 Dunov as the capital ships. Kol does good damage and has great defense, while Marza's offense is

My computer locks alot on big battles. I notice when I scroll in and try to build turret unit at the start of the battle it locks it a lot. I have had no problems with Company of Heroes, another resource heavy game. My computer main stats are XP Pro SP2 and always updated 7900 gt 2gb dual channel ram 3.20 ghz celeron (never been an issue before) 1440x 900 widescreen I dont OC. I have updated video drivers several times, those seemed to crash it hard before.
