I can't save the game or any recordings under a new name. Keyboard works (I am typing right now :), I also tried rebinding some keys just to make sure the game recognized it, and I can save over a game/recording I already have, but if I try to type a file name into the text box nothing appears. Got a crash. message said R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call. Before closing, I looked at the RAM usage and it was @1.27 gb. I'm not sure if it helps, but I was alt-tabbing alot at the

while other games may have successful diplomacy systems, you have to admit that the situation with sins is quite different from those games. I'm not saying it couldnt be done; I believe it can and hope a proper patch/expansion/sequel will get it right. Sins is alot more combat focused, in my opinion, than those games. If you can think of a game that has done diplomacy right, has alot of combat, and think the system could work for sins; I'd like to know what game that is. I'll try it o
Quoting mdimasso, reply 193 What about this issue regarding turning rates? Will it be addressed? https://forums.stardock.com/363293 https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/374505/page/1/ No, the game's behaving as Ironclad desires in this regard.
I would like to politely ask: What is the reasoning behind this desire?
yeah, I'm not sure whats going on with the pirates and that immediately guarded level thing. maybe fleet size? I'll do a test where I dont expand and dont build ships, just chill and see what happens. Now, if we want to make bidding less important in the early game, we could tie the effectiveness to the sum of all player's fleet size. as the game goes on and bigger fleets are on the board, the bidding becomes more influential. Heck, you could lock bidding at first if needed.
also, for me the best cap for 1v1 cap battle would be, teh egg, simply because of the nano ability, you skip the shields and mitigation, you have 1 fighter to shoot down some bombers.
well, the post wasn't about what anyone thinks is the best, it was about empirical proof of which is the best from the start o
... Still no communal labor? I really like the new guidance, but I still have to determine it's overall impact, especially combo'd with domina. I had a game the other day where my fleet had won a tough battle and most of my fleet had ~50% hull. I was bringing dominas online for experimental purposes. with guidance running, i went and looked at another planet and looked back and my fleet was at 100% [-1 ship that still needed healing]. yes, with auto-casting. the dominas had just arriv
that said, there is a patch in the works and many of us hope for improvements /w the diplomatic aspects; although how to do it is pretty up in the air.
I seem to have lost the ability to quote... That sounds like a job FOR...! ehh... a job for excel and sithlordaj's raw parsing MACRO. annnd... some person with all the raw files from all the past versions... Yeah, good luck tracking down the old files and converting the...... Wait, you weren't suggesting me , were you? AHHH!!! Actually, its seems that parsing macro got lost in my upgrade from Excel to Open Of
There are not nearly enough numbers here. Seriously. More numbers.... And i really should have done this stuff in excell or something... but unless someone has some imput... i think i am done for a bit.
Have you tried my excel sheet ? It has a cool little sandbox page where you put in 2 ship types and races, how many of it, and any
I'm generally not an online player, however because you were asking about it, I launched the game and went into the multiplayer lobby. Unfortunately, no one was in the lobby and there were no games that I could join, but 4 players were listed as being online and 2 games going(I have the beta patch, so that maybe why). So its kinda unclear as to whether LAA prevented anything as far as the multiplayer is concerned. If you have not used it, LAA is pretty simple. you simply add the execu
@AJ - If you read the TSOP post, you would understand the 2 gig limit on the game and not very many people can or will use that LAA fix. All the awesome textures you talk about zooming in on ARE ALREADY OPTIMIZED by Ironclad. Do you take screenshots and zoom in on your research icons? or race pictures? or menu backdrops? Do you open the texture sheets and zoom in on the 50% empty space? How about opening the textures that are loaded in-game that ar
Oh, I know. The point of this thread, however, is a suggestion that it should be integrated into the native code; that is what I am opposed to. I am fine with there being a mod for an even smaller footprint. I am fine with tweaks to the engine. I am fine with more options for lower-end machines (like texture compression enable/disable). I am fine with additional lower resolution textures for the same reason. I am not okay with any sort of downgrading of textures. If people still want
I still stand by my statement. do not downgrade the graphics. you can 'optimize' by numerous tricks including texture compression and other things, but i see no reason to downgrade anything. If other people have problems, the lower resolution settings should be the answer. If they aren't, then that needs to be fixed instead of changing the texture.
I understand some people dont have machines as awesome as mine (I'm pretty poud of it, if you can't tell), and I'm all for those people running on downgraded textures. Sins, like most PC games, has different levels of textures for different configurations. I am okay with making the lower resolution textures even lower so that more people have access to the game. I am okay with adding more sets of lower resolution textures so that more things are affected by the low resolution setting
First of all, in a 1v1, you should probably have diplomatic victory off. what happens is each player constantly generaterates diplomatic points depending on their research and relations. The exact way is a bit confusing and I dont know how it works. Diplomatic victory says you win if you have certain number of diplomatic points. You can change the rate at which everyone gains diplomatic points in the game options. I highly recommend not having this set to fastest, normal or sl
I think this comes down to not having a clear indication of what is supposed to counter bombers. You could make a case for flak, and a case for fighters, but at the end of the day neither are effective directly as counters. And having both is definately not the answer because flak is definately the counter for fighters, and it appears to me at least that if both sides bring both counters and bombers the flak and fighters basically nullify each other. I think flak should be equally eff
well, I'd hope they dont downgrade the textures. Heck, I'd like them to upgrade them a bit. How bout some tesselation on the roids while I'm dreaming? The other optimizations im okay with (though I'd question whether some g-cards might not like the new texture format. Then again, it might be fine, I dont know). I myself have a really beefy machine and once I did the Large Address Aware thing that let the game address more than 2 gigs, all was good (before, starbases were bright blue!). I
I still think they're kinda strong early on. Not impossible, but still heavy.
Whenever i randomly decide to give Revelation another chance, I always forget that the siege power/ability is a lvl6 ability. Would be nice to have that right off the bat.
And how would I know what I should use unless I have previously attempted a strat successfully? I've read up on lots of strategies over the years here, but I havent been able to put them into practice as it always seems..... whatever, I sound like I'm whining. btw, I immediately played a second game, much different situation, not attempting that or anything else pre-planned and quite handily lost. So, it's not just what you suggested.
yeah, my experiment ended in failure. *sigh* why is it everytime I most look forward to playing this game do I walk away in utter, humiliating failure? If I dont care/dont try/randomly pick this game to play, I do great.
I like the halcyon first as it makes wiping out militias so darn easy and it gets it the xp it needs to head up an invasion army. If you start /w progen, how fast do you guys get your 2nd capital up?
That might be too much of a buff. then dominas + repair bays = invincible fleet. What I was suggesting amounts too extending the life of your fleet. in rare cases, with the help of repair bays and assuming the dominas still healed a bit, you could bring a ship back from death, but the way i was thinking of it, it would be rare because you'd have to overcome all the damage you're taking while immortal and in the timeframe of the power. Basically, the only time it would save ships from
I am attempting to accelerate my early game expansion. I was reading some posts and hit apon the idea of bypassing worlds to capture choke points (I know this isnt a new idea). The reason I'm thinking to do this is because I often am surrounded by Ice Planets with heavy militia, which means I have to spend alot of time and money to build a capable fleet and spend more time, money and logistics slots on researching the arctic colonies. I obviously will eventually have to go back and wi
might that have been a pirate mission without a valid target? for example, set to target structures and there's no structures?
