None yet, possibly sometime next week.
SP guy here and the big stuff has already been rightly covered by other posters. I just want to know if it's possible to stop-auto-pinning starbases ( maybe in 1.03). Makes my empire tree useless and drives me nuts.

I can't speak for multiplayer but in single player, flagships are just a nice early novelty.I have 0 incentive or desire to take it out of my home planet gravity well once I get up and running because even though it's durable, it's also a huge risk with little reward when the game gets going. It lacks for cool abilities or even support abilities and every faction effectively has the exact same ship.Either let us pick our flagship( e.g. first cap ship built is completely free inclu
It's been a while since I played Sins but this annoys me to no end. I like to use the empire tree in a very lean fashion but every planet with a starbase auto pins to it. This makes it unnecessarily bloated and really annoying to keep track of what I actually want to look at. On large long maps where starbase support is a huge boon, it renders the empire tree useless.
96% accurate is the current stats; the company said they would retest you (99.7% accurate), IF you contested the test, after 1 fail. But the point of the post was, odds are high you'll be taking a LDT in the future, and theft/piracy is the main questions they ask about. And if you fail, they will "LOL" while they escourt you to the door if you try to tell them all the reasons you pirated. . .
If I'm taking a lie detector test for a job that's not ultra high national sec
If the game was really that bad, don't buy it, but don't even pirate it, because then the developers think that they made a great game that everyone stole and will just try to release a shittier version with annoying DRM on it next time instead of spending time making an actually decent game.Mad Cat
So true. I consider it a downward spiral that both sides are contributing to. While I don't foresee myself pirating software as a habit, I do wonder how much longer I'll be
You seriously trust game magazine reviews? Have you not seen all the scandals and shady advertising issues that have been in existence almost as long as the reviewers themselves? You know, for all that's made of these oh-so-scandilous incidents, I've still gotten plenty of good information from reviews in all my years of reading. Yes, some sites have their occasional issues and yes, those games that appeal to everyone else in the free world just might not be your cup of tea (I have no int
I'll be stepping away from this thread because I don't want this to turn into an off-topic flamewar. But without getting all anal about it, I don't agree that music - or gaming - piracy was primarily created or is being driven by disaffection in the customer base at all.[B] It was created and continues to be a problem because it's convenient, fast, and free, and anything else is just an excuse. Every track on an album sucking except for a single one that you wanted was true for a lot of m
disaffected customers however, who are making up more and more of the piracy statsProof, please. The only actual times I've ever seen on this are pirates who say they're disaffected as an excuse.-- Retro
Proof? See the OP? Stardock's superior customer care gained respect and thus a customer. To elaborate on my earlier point with high speed internet changing things, casual "pirates" really do tend to start as disaffected customers. Over time though just like with many rati
Yeah true, but thieves aren't going to buy anyway. Heck, most thieves don't even actually play the game once they jack it and by play I mean even think of it after the first day or so; they're too busy stealing ever more product. Disaffected customers however, who are making up more and more of the piracy stats, can be brought back by seeing their money/time actually be well spent. That's how it happened in the 80's when gaming crashed and that's what's happening in the music industry now. When
So then we should steal food from the restaurant just because they might not be giving us an honest sample?
That's pretty much what's happening. You get tired of being ripped off for $50 here, $50 there for well polished turds. Why should the company be the only one to benefit from robbery? Just because it's legal doesn't make it right. I've lost more money than I care to discuss on products that made better coasters than games. That people think they deserve to get paid f
You seriously trust game magazine reviews? Have you not seen all the scandals and shady advertising issues that have been in existence almost as long as the reviewers themselves? Over 20 years of actually paying attention( I was reading slightly longer) I've seen some true turds get 9/10 and had it come down to pressured reviewers, hoodwinked reviewers and the company's bottom line. The only thing I really trust at this point is my own play experience. Just like all restaurants don't o

Of all the friends I have that play games, especially those with teenage children, there are at least 3 computers in the house. I personally still chafe at having to buy m
So your closing argument is that support craft are potent when brought into battle against an unbalanced fleet? Your end analysis suggests that had you actually had a support craft(Dunov) against the Progenitor, the outcome could have been different. None of the support caps have the firepower of the offensive ships. What they have in stead of massive guns is massive defense, capable of extending a fight and neutralizing offensive advantages. As such, those vessels punish fleets without support cr
Double post.
Even at equal levels you still didn't have the tools to win. You went all combat vs. the ultimate defensive cap ship, you lost.Had you a single disabling ship, the outcome would likely have been dramatically different. Your next example, the 4 Dunovs is almost exactly the same thing (though I wonder what his phase missile research was and if he had gravity warhead). He took an all combat force into battle against massively defensive ships and lost. Replace the 4 overseers with subverters and it'
I take it you're assuming there were no upgrades based on the stats you could see. Allowing that, when you jumped in he was already in battle so his shield mit was already high. Since he was fighting pirates,I assume it was his world under his culture and Advent have a mit bonus in culture. Advent, the Progenitor especially, can be darn near invincible without proper support. At level 5, the bonuses to armor/shield power and presumably a level 3 shield restore pretty much make a Progenitor a defe
Was scouting around for info for the "Remake" thread (https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308764/page/3/#1731353 ) for info and appreciate really detailed balance posts like this one. Thanks for the effort and overall discussion quality. Would it be a viable idea to swap the AE distortion field for a scaled down version of volatile nanites( single target maybe?)?
The problem with the defensive- offensive strat is just that people won't play that way. When you introduce a mechanic like veterancy it has the effect of making every unit "count". By count I don't so much mean making it more effective so much as playing on the player's perception of value. In a game this large balanced by the fleet and not the unit, veterancy is a potential disaster not just for the mechanics but player behavior itself. More engagements will be hit and run affairs as opposed
It's not discontinuity it's perspective. From the perspective of the Trade Order the Advent was a deviant society so that's how the story is told. The game cinematic cinches that it's all about perspective when you hear the narrator speak about the Advent. Human history--especially the Western world expansion-- is full of such over the top descriptions and histories of cultures and people they didn't understand. I'm sure this story will give you a chuckle. http://oak.cats.oh
your basing balance on the macro level.. lets base it on opions.getting 2 cap ships early game is no small feat, your saying it should fail outright agasint a specific capship build without it needing any support whatsoever?.well sure, one less build.Lets all just spam ravishers LRMS and Illums becasue everything else loses to them.
That's not at all what I'm saying. You raise two points and I'll address them separately. 1. Getting 2 caps early game is no
In short, yes and I just explained and gave examples why. Talking about the potentially overpowered malice- brilliance combo, guardians and illums are one thing, in this case you are talking about a bad match-up in a game that is balanced on a macro, not micro level. Because of the myriad ways this could have gone against the Progenitor with some relatively minor(and cheaper) differences, it's hard to argue it's imbalanced at all. Edit: I'm not saying it's not imbalanced,I'm saying it
I actually got a chuckle reading that since if realism is a concern for players I'd expect the unreal planet system configs to be a registering offense. The ships aren't so much burning in space as the atmosphere from them. It's not impossible to see short lived flames or explosions in such situations. That said, how much fun would the game be without explosions and flaming death, realistic or not. It's a game not a sim and whole hosts of realism often go out the window for playability a
I'd change the stacking rules for tradeships, broadcast centers and the like. There really should have been a diminishing returns on those structures within a gravity well since they don't have natural limits like refineries. Given that the game is balanced as fleets and not individuals, unbalanced 1v2's aren't out of the question or even illogical. Balance for balance, how would the progenitor have done against a couple of support cruisers that drain anti-matter or take out specials? Would you consider it fair that a cap ship can be taken out by an equivalent( or less depending on the player) value of support ships and DPS? In your own scenario, drop the second cap and add just two Hoshiko's with demo bots; replace
Maybe I missed it and if I did I apologize but, why isn't info like this dev provided and in the manual/game files? I'd like to request that devs actually take the time to present the full mechanics so we can have accurate discussions not based on teased out info. While we all might not get knee deep into the strategy meta-game, I'm sure all players appreciate knowing what's going on. Since buying the game, I've found the forums to be invaluable for info I simply can't find in game and I conside
