Hey all, Just wanted to touch base so you'd know I hadn't died or anything. Not much to update yet. I have been testing and playing around with the Mod as it is now, trying to fix some issues. diresaint, That work you're doing on the meshes is excellent. Any idea when you'll have the texture for the Diamond completed? Or are you, like me, waiting for Ezraeil's texture tutorial? -Draven

You can open a .mesh file with notepad to view or make changes. If you have you original model in XSI ModTools, you need to create a "rootpoint" under the Scene. Then, under the rootpoint, create a "null" primitive for each of the Weapon/Ability/Centre/Top/Exhuast, etc. Change the name of each null to match each point. For example... diresaint, Awesome work! I tested the diamond in-game and believe it or not it is the exact perfect size already. So all it needs now is the texture work. Which ability from HammerSun's mod were you thinking of using? What does it do? -Draven

So a lot of work is being done on the mod currently, and things are moving right along. 1. I have created a bunch of assimilated versions of various ships, and I'm working on more. The biggest issue we have currently is how the Borg get these ships. -Obviously, the ideal way is to create some way for the Borg to assimilate them from other players, but this is proving problematic. If you cannot change the entity file for the captured ship, is there a way to have the captured ship vanish and have a new ship spawn in its place that uses a different entity file? (Or spawn at the shipyard?) Or.... Can there be a prerequisite for an item in the research tree that says you have to capture a particular ship? Thanks, -Draven

Hi all, There is a function I want to make, but I'm not sure if Sins can be modded to do this. When I capture a ship from another player, I would like to use an alternate entity file for the ship once it is captured. Does anyone know if this is even possible, or how I might go about this? Yes, what I want to do is make the Cube and Tactical Cube the only "original" Cap Ships that the Borg have. These ships will be [I]mean beasts[/I], and will be quite expensive to build. The heavy frig will probably be the Sphere. The Cruiser will probably be the Diamond (This ship [I]is[/I] used to carry the Queen, but is not all that tough on it's own as far a raw firepower. Ezraeil, In regards to assimilation... Right now, I just have assimilated versions of other races ships as buildable for the Borg. Your description sounds much more ideal: Like if we could make it so that when the Borg attack a ship of another race, instead of it exploding, it would be converted from "player x" over to the Borg player, meanwhile switching which entity file is used for the ship that has been assimilated. POLL: Regarding balancing... How do you think that an Assimilated ship would compare to its non-assimilated counterpart? Would it be... 1. Tougher over all 2. Weaker over all 3. The Cubes will have to be limited, because they are so powerful. As far as the frigates, I have changed those a bit. Most of the frigates will now be assimilated versions of other race's ships. (See earlier in the thread for a screenshot of the Assimilated Miranda.) -Draven

Eraeil, Thank you! I will be posting an initial release soon, and of course if there is anything in my mod that you'd like to use for yours, such as weapons effects or what not, please feel free. Ezraeil, I think that person thought the Sabre was missing because there was no button for it, but it is indeed there, and looks great. Can't wait to see what you've done for the Galaxy... Yeah, it's my understanding that the Trek Mod that MajorStress' group is working on will not be including the Borg at all. That is why I'm doing this Mod.
