Ok, so it's #2 BUT:1- Digital sales not included.2- Walmart not included.3- Only available in North America at the moment. 4- Not much advertising/hype compared to other games.5- New and unheard of game developer. AND no copy protection...I do believe this ends the debate that piracy is the biggest problem facing PC gaming. About time to flush the toilet of the PC gaming world and get rid of a few names and that funky smell.
Completely agree , if a game is good it will se
I just hope with all these threads regarding molesting the epic proportions of the game dont ruin the game because I bought sins for long drawn out battles and so I could tank an enemy while doing other things. I have a heap of other strats sitting in boxes very rarely played because they are ALL rush material with many limitations as too how you can play. Its not for me too say though I guess being too new so all I would suggest is that people be careful what they are asking for eithe
Hi I am in the UK but when I was making the purchase I didnt see it in any retail stores so I had the same worry, not sure about aus but looking at what others have said it sounds like it should be fine as digital download. I bought a game digital download once from the US and had the kind of problem you asked about and I was lucky enough to get a refund.
Good concept for a mod :) , good luck with it!
Hi I read this post when I first bought the game and on first look at the game I wasnt sure but after spending some time reading and watching some epic battles as well as playing a few games I love the game as well. I love the game pace because while a battle is raging in one sector , if I have the correct ships built to tank I can mount a counter attack. I also like how you arent treating your userbase like criminals, with stupid protection schemes that dont work only damage a system. Fact is a
I can understand the MP gripes if they are getting de-syncs because the netcode isnt nat aware or some other reason .(I hate de-syncs and such things so I sympathise!) I am just playing SP at the momment and am really enjoying it now :) like the game pace. Hope I can say the same as I get better! I hope all the issues get fixed but hope also that the game balance and speed doesnt get wrecked because of "ubers". I hope a balance is struck that meets the needs of veterans and newbies alike but tha
Really good post, I actually went the colonizing cap ship with TEC and am doing alot better my 2nd game than my first, I plan to try many ways but its good to read so much tips regarding early game choices.
There's something else that people have brought up, the fact that sometimes you need to colonize in different direction. For instance, you jump to a roid, take it, but then must go back to the homeworld and take another. I very rarely do this. The only way I do this
Newbie here :) , hope you folks dont mind me asking but whats impulse? and Im also wandering is the netcode done in such away after the latest patch that sins is nat aware now? I have a router and I know how to port forward or failing this use DMZ (Sometimes seen as bad practice but have used in the past if a game just wont work forwarding ports) Thanks :)
Hi , really loving sins now after messing up my first game but doing much better my 2nd game. I cant find on the forums a list which shows in a basic format without actual numbers what ship counters what, what point defenses are best for what. I guess it will come from experiance and the reason Im not wanting an absolute maths breakdown of things is I dont want to ruin the enjoyment of finding things out. Im just learning and have just figured out some ways to get my start game better
Hi I am just starting as well but am just starting to really like the game but I feel I am in more or less the same boat as yourself. Just goiong through this t hread for tips :) but noted about the experiance thing
If there were a faster option in multiplayer, the vast majority of multiplayer games would be played at the faster speed. It'd ruin the pacing and the feel of the game and turn it into yet another RTS clickfest.
I suppose Im being a bit selfish since Im very new but I see this happen on in fact every rts I can think of ^^^^ and is probably the reason why I hate them and am loving sins. Just be careful what you wishfor since the game gets conistant 8.9 9.0+ reviews and I t
Hi I saved my game and just to add I had a MUCH MUCH better game this time, started on a random huge map and I now see why some are against orbital refinarys to early since they cost a massive amount of credits. I adapted much better in this game, got cap ship, scuttled cap ship place, got 2 scouts on autoexplore, got extractors on asteriod fields and have taken 4 systems reasnably quick with my cap ship. I didnt stick to one thing, I got civ infrastructure maxed on my main planet got 4 civ buil
I have an nvidia 8600GT and I will be honest with you I have researched sli and non sli mode for months and the nvidia latest drivers are terrible atm, the top notch cards are getting fixes but the budget ones arent. I know thats a bold statement but my friend has a top notch card and gets minimal problems and I had to use the NGO drivers to solve various bugs in games. (Thankfully thus far sins seems to be running fine though). Im actually into software development but still class myself as a
Im going to check the thread as well, thanks for posting :) Should say "theSpas" that Im a complete newbie, if your looking for a game give me a shout. I'm not one of the typical people on strats that say they are new and are actually decent :). Also I dont DC and if it ever comes to a point where I must leave , I would inform you and we could save the game or failing that I move my fleet out of my main system and just let you win since I shouldnt be DCing if at all possible anyway . Hope you ar
So you're saying everyone should be rushing ***holes just so you can get wins? I thought the point of a game was to have fun. You can have fun without winning. Also what if your rush fails? Then what are you going to do? Quit because you can't do anything else now? How is that any more useful then going for economy? While it is annoying that your allies leave because they made a bad choice, that's what this game is about. Choices. You can choose to go economy. If the enemy doesn't rush th
lol it is pretty neat to see people doing things succesfully differant ways tbh as Im looking for a game that caters for many differant strategys, this makes it harder for me initially but better long term since I want to a while from now get good enough to handle big drawn out battles. I will probably try as many differant ways as possible to start out , that seems the best way :) Coel I got like the first 2 asteroids under control and started aiming to get more logistics slots, I al
Sounds reasnable HM, just spending some time browsing all the threads and getting accustomed to the forum, picking up some good advice and will hopefully benefit from it :)
See above edit, sorry cyber! wont post on here again, cant believe I did that. Away to stand in corner hehe
Cant find the edit button sorry about the double post but I dont see the enjoyment in doing 2 min rushes all the time just for the sake of online stats Im more wanting to have some epic battles when I get better. I dont even care if I lose only that the game is reminiscant of a real war scenario
I play the Empires mod for Half Life 2 and each round of that is about as long (as well as most RTS games)!
Being careful not to sway offtopic too much but I am going t
I havent played long enough to contradict what the OP is saying but all I can say is Ive been for years looking for a strat where 5 min rush isnt the most viable tactic, and games are drawn out with big long wars over resources, and that fights last long enough so that you can be building and mounting counter attacks while fights are going on. So for me Im looking for a strat the shows a bit more realism and many facets than a button bash or 2 or for instance build power plant, barracks , item 3
I just got the game as well :) so I am still learning, good thing is though , well from what Ive seen thus far people are happy to give out great advice and mods seem to be trying to keep the place an atmosphere of respect with 0 flamming and that is very refreshing. I.e newbies bring able to ask stuff after they have read the manuals and such. Will be a few days until I have any decent idea of what Im doing but if you ever want to join someones game on line just for a laugh and to learn give me
On the right hand side a window should appear saying what the upgrade does, with something like "Logistical Slots 14 > 18". That means you have 14 now and will have 18 after the upgrade.
I wandered about that, cheers :) Finally, thanks all! - noted about building refinarys to early! Too much good advice to go through it all but everything mentioned really sets me in the right direction as to comming up with strategies. Im away to play a game now :)
Thats me been through the manual and some basics on the forum now. I also did another game and heres how I started but I got badly owned. I think I understand it slightly more but heres my order of things, just before submitting my order my plan was to make my first planet full of civic like things so I could have some good ecconomics to finance a war.(That was the failed plan :) ) Ok so to the best of my memmory , heres how I started out: built extractors on the 3 asteriods in
