Nice info, I am working on something as well, this might be a good thread for questions? Psugar, is there any way to add a bonus or penalty to a race in this player.entity file? In my example I think thinking of, it would be a half dozen races with specialties in a few things, with costs of some research & ships raised or lowered, etc. One might have a across the board bonus to culture, another can go higher in laser power, and so on. But . . . where to add this? If it can somehow g
Very well, another question - is there a place to add some bonuese and penalties on the player entity? Perhaps even link a planatary bonus? Or something similar . .
An idea I had for this game was having subraces, I am unsure if it is possible, you all tell me. It was for a thing I wanted to do with the factions from a RPG called Alternity, but could have many applications. Basically, humans have explored a part of the galaxy, and as they did, different governments/factions formed. So, one could pick human (TEC) but then could select a "subrace" which would provide a number of other bonuses and penalties (balanced, so even
Hmm, I go a bit more by the seat of my pants, although I favor HCs, LRMs, and Perchion Carriers. Usually, I build them all in groups of 10 . . a larger fleet then gets a few 10 ship squadrons, depending on attack or defense. This way, I can adjust fleets, especially if on a 2 front war, and often can use 2 or 3 left over ships from a 10 ship group as decoys or something else
Perhaps someone can put that file or a link up here in this thread, and in the new tools for peeps? ;^)
Question - when you increase ship speeds, what does it do, exactally? Increase the speed you zip around the map, or production speeds . . I am not really sure. I find the beginning of the game a tiny bit slow, but that is when I am settling in, getting a drink, etc. By the time I am settled it seems ok, and as Extremor said, I need my energy drinks later to keep up, especailly when controling my cap ships and directing them on a 2 front war.
Yes I would love to know, as I am seeing the same thing, hard and normal seem no different at all.
Freaking awesome Danman!!
Would turning on the pirates to be playable be a huge modification? What would it involve? Or, could their ships be used for another new race? I saw a line in the player entity about player race I think, but I am unsure how hard this task would be.
I could not find a list of new planet bonuses - I think your read me said you would not list them :) Name the file to look in, and I will post the list I want to make for myself :)
Quote - PC games are at the point where I can click an icon and the game just works. I don't even have to bother looking for the right CD anymore. Are you kidding? Although I would never get a console, and spend 2k a year on my comp . . . this is just a insane statement. List of games that so far has failed me in the last few years (in this respect, they are still fun) - Neverwinter Nights 1, Neverwinter Nights 2, Crysis, Galactic Civ II, and SoSE. Only COD4 worked right out o
Keep up the good work devs :) "Please don't tame the AI. Make them even smarter!" Every game should have difficulty enough to set on easy for noobs, up to a setting that Captain Kirk and Kahn would need to work together on to win :^)
A good point, perhaps if it has no effect on gameplay, a patch or home-brewed mod might be able to use it?
Looks awesome :)
I think the important word here is: patience I develop persistent worlds for Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 (very complex servers, with custom content measured in GB, and hundreds of areas to explore, extremely complex scripting, and so on) and many of the developers there have many complaints - devs not paying attention, patches needing patching, the whole thing . . . Perhaps I am old school since I recall playing "pong" when it came out at home, but the support games get now is
This is excellent :) I wonder, anyone have ideas of races they like? So far the game has human, psion, and alien - I was thinking next a robot race, perhaps a wookie type race, and perhaps some really bizarro looking one. Icons should be easy, I do custom stull elsewhere, I will bribe one of the people on my other project ;) I will post them after tested too, but I welcome suggestions
I was wondering if there was any sort of tutorial out there for making races - specifically the research trees, names and text for them, where the icons go, how they are linked, and so on. Totally new ships (graphics) is not something that is paramount, but rather, new abilities, or different combinations of other abilities. I think I understand how to alter the existing races, but to make new ones, what would the process be? Thanks for your time <
I have 2 wierd bugs, call me a noob :D 1) When I edit a map, sometimes is just ends when loaded, all teams defeated? 2) When I use planets from the Sins mods, the map in the traditional custom map designer in the program shows the map with no planets? In a nutshell, my maps I make with planets from the mods are not working
With all the guides I see out here, I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction to a list of the capital ships . . more than that, their powers, and how they work - the little bit of text really is not enough to understand them all. I have read about a few here in the forums . . is there a place listing their abilities, antimatter cost, cooldown, and so on? If not . . someone should make one, like the other cool guides in this forum :D
This rocks :) Added alot to the game. Next, please - new talents for races, those new 4 were a tease!
