I just wish people would write more stories about TEC victories... both Saints and Sinners has the TEC dieing like sheep walking into a meat grinder. I mean come on! The TEC were only weak when the Vasari first struck! By the time the Advent came they had become the World War II equivalent of the United States. Not only does the TEC produce ships much faster but by the first decade of conflict, they have ships that can go toe to toe with their Vasari counterparts. My point is that it

(In real life, America is just not going to attack Britain or Canada over night, for example.)Hitler attacked Russia even though Stalin was pretty sure they were good buddies. Diplomacy is a deadly game.
Not really they had just signed a nonagression pact.
I watching the intro today instead of usually skipping it and noticed something wrong with you story. Wasn't kol's son born the year the vasari invaded? Or are disregarding that and making cool a totally different guy than the man in the intro? [e digicons][/e] Smiles make everything better!
This being a diplomacy minded expansion set, I think they should add a meter to measure the consequences of your actions. For example if your a peaceful guy, the meter would mark you so. If your some beligerant conqueoror, then the meter would tell you and all the ai you are. This all would affect your dealings in the game, directly and indirectly. Being peaceful would mean your society would be more open to the universe, and as a result your trade would increase. Also when trying to make a d
I think the whole Earth thing in science fiction is overrated. Quite grabbing on to Asimov's rotting coattails and come up with something unique already!
Phew! Finally finished the thing. I liked it as a fan fict but if you're seriously considering having this published, it'll need some work. First I need to address my concern with the pace of the story. You seem to being at one, and it is very fast. Slow things down a bit, and try to even intervals of relative tranquility followed by acceleration. Do this and your story won't wear out the reader till they're numb by the time they get to the good stuff. Second is the unorginali
Do you take requests? If so how about one on the marines you sent down there? You know the devastation of the orbitals strikes, the meager civilian survivors, and the last resistance of the vasari military.
Is there any way I can get this in a smaller font? Maybe an alternate site where all this stuff is stored... it's so big it hurts my eyes.....
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! [e digicons]XO[/e] I like it man continue! [e digicons][/e] You should ask for it to be put in general so it gets more views.
What I want is for trade to revamped and made all shiney looking: First there needs to be convoys, which are basically just groupings of trade ships. There should be a setting where you choose the number of convoys from dozens to one giant trade armada. The smaller ones would be faster but would make less credits all while being at more risk of attack. The bigger ones would make much more cash but take more time to exit a system. Basically convoys are all about risk v
This is a great story, its focus on a single admiral's fate is a great foil to the main sins stories focus on entire empires. I think that the vasari are sufficiently "alien" enough, and it would be difficult to picture them any other way. Think about it, a race that once had a huge empire is now on the run from a powerful and enigmatic enemy, they would cling to the one aspect of their culture that still exists, military tradition. So the
Advent +Drones- I believe that the Advent's main planet side might will be drones. There will likely be a base model, from which the Advent produce them, very easily modified to new terrain and tactics. While some may be controled directly by Advent operators, I think that they'll have some sort of group hivemind. Instilled with this, the army will act according to the direct wishes of a single per
What do you think the general experience of it would be for each faction? What are each's advantages and disadvantages when the choosen civ picks this course? When facing each other, what countermeasures would they develope to effectively level the playing field? Personally I believe the Vasari would have the strongest force present on the ground, similar to space. Their troops would be armed with so many nano inspired gadgets it would be frightening to face them. Nano
I want realistic placement of planets. It just doesn't make sense to have a ice planet right next to a star and a lava one on the edge of the system.
The Caliban Navy
Mercenaries- Instead of the bounty system attracting pirates to attack, mercenary fleets would replace them. Their vessels could comprise of a mix of TEC, Vasari, and Advent types. The ships would be painted according to the random generated force they belong too. For example the Red Moon Scourges would have a fiery crimson paint job. Pirates- These bastards would now have r
I am also a Vasari player and to tell you the truth, I think that a few persons have greatly misrepresented them(https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/321796). I wanted to show people the political side of them and have people know, in the words of the great Edoc'sil (oh so many there were - I tend to name my flagship that, and it has only been destroyed once), My power is unmatched!
Nice story though I
Could we please have a hint at the characters left behind enemy lines? Are we going to have anymore groundside stories? Also exactly how many ships on each side of the battle now? Kinda lost track back there...
Just when I thought the TEC were going to pull through Witchfire, you slap with Advent 'martyrs'! Does the TEC always have to have their asses handed to them? Do they crave the abuse?
Announcer:"Let the beat down commence! In the corner we have the reigning champion, weighing at 300pds, he is expected to crush the new up and comer, lets give it up for the Advent!"
Hang in there TEC!
I'd say if you and the enviroment can effect the looks of your units then thats a plus for the game. I like how in mythology the men left skelotons behind and if they had lasted a little longer you would get the feeling of accomplishment with having fought there. As your mummy's cross the sands towards your enemy's fort you would remember that battle you had in the beginning, whether it was an easy victory or a crushing defeat. Kudos on the upgrades affecting looks. I never really got
Quoting HeroicHerald, reply 19 Like I said, they will survive, but whatever ends this war won't be TEC, Advent, or Vasari. It won't even be human. The game is called after all, Sins of a Solar Empire... What do you mean it won't be TEC, Advent, or Vasari? Why won't it be human? And what does the fact that the game is called Sins of a Solar Empire have to do with anything? Samurye.
I'll buy the expansions but I won't buy your next game IronClad. I remember reading how a dev bragged that they had "left out" some parts to the game so they could focus on a single aspect. That is a problem. When you make a car, you don't stop at the engine and then charge the buyer for the rest. Especially in individual pieces. If they had just done their job and tryed to play the game from several perspectives, they'd see there were holes in their cake. I will buy an expansions when they r
I still believe that the TEC haven't been represented correctly. In my mind, when the Vasaris came they conquered nearly a quarter of the TEC space before the ten year gap brought them to a halt. At first it may have been numbers that helped the TEC from being crushed. They merely lost a limb for the whole body. However if you compare this to the actual game, I would say that the TEC had a 1.5 five loss rate against the Vasari when the Advent came. It also specifically states in the intro tha
