Duende, that is good advice, and nicely explained. I've had very similar experiences to what you've described, and done much the same. I think your "freind" will often give you good missions against the other faction, because they are also their nearest threat. But every so often, they all give missions that are basically impossible to complete. Like: destroy 8 tactical structures, when the opposing faction doesn't even have that many! I just ignor these, and accept the small loss in happin

Also, please see recent comments at the [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/319987"]Beta Feedback forum[/link]. Including mine, where I look at it from another angle - by adding up total resouces spent for Hard compared to Normal.
but I always get 2 or 3 AI attacking me at the same time and in the end I dont have the resources to hold. ... I tend to ignore diplomacy, maybe this is the issue.
Yes, it probably is. The AI gangs up on the best player. You can win if you don't ignor diplomacy. Even if you don't ignor diplomacy, it is often difficult to gain allies. So, to make it fair, start the game with everyone having some allies (pick unlocked teams). Or alternatively, click on

I did the math, the Hard AI is getting an income boost. Numbers don't lie. If you add up all income/resources that Hard spends, it is 1.5 times what Normal spends. In other words, Hard gets 50% more income to spend, than we do! Since people still had questions, I tried a couple different angles, to get a conclusive answer. In both cases, I compared total income spent, total metal spent, and total crystal spent (ie: added up each of the last categories on the charts). Fi
Considering the changelogs have definitively stated that only Unfair gets such a boost as well as numerous players, I'll wait until Stardock or Ironclad gives us info to this effect.
Mazuo, it is disappointing that the changelogs are incorrect in this point. But Hard does get an 'unfair income bonus/boost'. More players have responded in this regard, at those referenced posts, since you've last read them.

The evidence is also there on the Metal & Crystal graphs, third one down again. It also looks like a 1.5X boost, but it varies slightly because the extractors get built at slightly different times, meaning slightly more or less income. But, the 1.5X bonus (& 2X for Unfair) is obvious on the third income chart! Look at the first couple readings, and it will jump right out. Your first income reading will be 10, while the Hard AI's is 15! And this ratio c
that because the income chart of the Hard AI is better than a Normal AI's that *must* mean Hard gets an income bonus.... It may be true, it may not be, but what the graph offers is not "proof", but at best supporting evidence to a theory
Anatar, I've played identical games against an identical opponent, and the Hard AI is definitely getting an Income and Resource boost, because they are able to research & buy much more than I can in the allocated time. Just watch some re
Yeah, hard AI doesn't get an income bonus. That's the unfair AI.
NO, the Hard AI does infact get a 1.5 times income boost. Whereas, the unfair AI gets an even bigger income boost (2X). Iztok, and wnmnkh are correct on this one. The hard AI is actually also a little "unfair"!
Exploring: Worth it?... Are there any things [of] actual value?
I stumbled across an incredibly extensive analysis of artifact exploration at SoaSEWiki.com. The "Derelict" map (8th small map, v1.05) is unique, in that, it does have phase lanes connecting 3 Stars (by outer planets). A lone 4th Star system is unconnected, as usual. The "Foreign Invasion" meduim size map has a small group of outlieing, resource-rich planets that can only be reached by 2 wormholes. This small system is unique since it doesn't have a Star. Stars can always be reached from your local Star (after you've researched Long Range Jumps). Version 1.05'
Once the game starts, build a capital ship factory first thing. Then send your other fabricator to build the crystal extractor, and cue up the other 2 metal extractors so that the fabricators always are either building or in transit to build. No time is wasted this way. While those are building, sell 100 metal and buy 100 crystal. Then upgrade the terran infrastructure of your homeworld to the 4th level (the sooner you start this, the sooner it pays off, so be quick about it!). After that

Thx Cooley35, on my 24" w/1600x1000 resolution, its a tiny v1.00 right down there in the bottom corner like you said. It so small, its no wonder I missed it. Glad I've found it, but dissappointed that I'm playing the original version. I had hoped I had purchased an updated version.

On the menu where you choose Single Player/Multi Player, pick Options. Then there is a "Manage Files" choice... you can "Erase" individual files from different "Save Types", or complete "sets".

When I bot the game (in May?) and started playing, I think I should have upgraded. But I didn't, I didn't know about this web site, or what was available, or what I had. I was struggling just to figure out the game. Now when I go to upgrade (to 1.05), it says that I won't be able to play my previous saves! You've got to be kidding... I've got hours invested in those saves. So which version I am I actually playing now (maybe I've already got
I generally make a quick save and then explore all my planets when I've got enough spare resources. Then I'll reload and expore the planets that had something. Yes, I know, I suck and it's basically cheating...
The ultimate exploring cheat, is to save, then "Surrender" (under the quit menu), then choose to "Keep Playing", and ALL will be revealed instantly! By ALL, I mean, each of the planets with an artifact, the opponent's home worlds/ships/structures, planet
