Did you check your options settings?
I checked them, I can't see any option anywhere for "Show Phase Lines" or not. THey show up with the grav wel grid if I press alt but other than that, zip.

Haven't played Rebellion since before the last patch. Went to fire it up today, started a game with the new maps and I can't see any of the phase lines. I see unknown planets one jump away as usual but no lines. Ships can jump and explore no problem but it's bloody hard to play when I can't see where to fly. It's like driving when you can't see road signs. Tried turning off all my mods, still happpenned. Checked all video drivers, still happenned. restarted com

1. hyperthreading, multi-core (up to 6/8 for future-proofing) and SLI/Crossfire support if not already included 2. New race Or single-player campaign 3. Differeing game modes like king of the hill, or domination, where holding a certain central planet gives a massive advantage whilst held, but say, cant build any defenses 4. New achievements like "Form 50 pacts" and "Destroy 30 starbases" - suspisciously lacking in Entrenchment and Dipomacy 5. New planet types,

not to my knoweldge, but I dont really care what it looks like If you want the awesome graphics for drain planet play with dolynick's sg races mod as the Asgard, build the Ragnarok colossus and give it the consume planet ability THAT is cool

Nah we aint off topic, we were discussing strategy as it is pertinent to which race is superior. Which is, of course, TEC And besides, i made this thread so it aint off topic [e digicons][/e]

I do believe the "spam" idea was debunked as a viable tactic early in the thread. And besides, whilst the TEC may be the weakest in open battle, they can replace losses faster and cheaper then the others, ensuring they can stil fight Its the old adage, If your ships are a hundred times stronger then they are, and can kil a hundred enemy ships before dying, if your outnumbered 200 to one you still lose

304 Replies 777,985 Views

Its a balance between amount of enemy firepower you can take out vs. the time taken to do so For example, if you have a capital ship with the combined firepower of 50, but it takes 200 seconds to kill it And you have 5 frigates with firepower 10 but it only takes 20 seconds to kill them Then you go for the frigates - because it will cause the most damage in the least time. And also, the more firepower of theirs you take out, the less damage you take. So i'd say go frot

I like the idea of massive pirate bounties bringing capitals Perhaps, above a certain limit (perhaps 20,000) it brigns 1 capital ship for every 3000 credits? and one super-capital for every 10000 or so

25 Replies 71,895 Views

yeah that would be funny One thin ive noticed though with pirate raids They all seem to stop at attacking the first planet they come to, they dont trash it and move on like you'd expect

burnedbacon, I think that is an excellent idea. It makes sense too, as you wouldnt want one central government for multiple star sytems because it would be too unwieldy. System capitals makes much more sense. Perhaps each collective group of planets linked to a sub-capital have a separate allegiance level to you, so individual worlds can secede, but if you do badly a whole system could secede at once

I had a good one last week. I was playing with dolynicks SG Races mod. I was the Asgard against four unfair/agressor Wraith AI's, locked on the same team, in a sytem i made myself ( five clusters of worlds, each even in resources, connected by one phase lane each to a central ring around the star. Between each cluster is a super-duper pirate base, so there are 3 ways int each cluster. Lots of starting resources too, so you get to war faster :) ) Blimey that was fun. I had four of the

I havent, and Ive been looking damn hard. It does say it doesnt have all the features available yet. In Beta 2 for instance you had the research speed boost pact but not in beta 3. Maybe the demand gifts thing will turn up in Beta 4 or the final release

85 Replies 51,129 Views

Ive had that. i think its because it has to be two sided; i.e. you have to have a high opinion of them before you can offer them a pact, which means they have to send envoys and complete missions (which they dont do by the way)

I really like the idea of a galactic UN (or, to nick a term from Stargate, a "United Nations of the Stars"). It explains why you can have a relationship with a player when you dont know where any of their planets are. It exaplins how the relationships are mediated without embassies Perhaps the UN of the Stars could be some Uber-strong hull/shield-Starbase (with Armistic ability) at the central star, and if a faction attacks it, they get declared "hostis humani generis"

85 Replies 51,129 Views

that is true, which is why playing as TEC can be a careful balancing act early-game, where you have to expand in five or six directions at once and you lack the resources to do them all. Can get a bit hairy when the enemy turn up BUT once the economy is there, ir pretty much becomes a matter of time before your waving the victory banners

304 Replies 777,985 Views

yeah, diplomacy only seems to be needed early game. i agree with diplomatic upgrades for starbases (might actually make it worth buidling them in allied gravwells) and also id like to see some NEW ACHIEVEMENTS AND ARTICFACTS

85 Replies 51,129 Views

I agree lots of reading Its a fascinating idea, its like the "conquer the world" modes in Rise of Nations and Dawn of War. Complicated and no doubt fiddely to get set up right, i think it would nonetheless be an epic idea

3 Replies 3,446 Views

Exactly It's well and good saying that one race can have the best fleet combo that rapes all others, but if in the game you lack the resources to build such a fleet, maintain it and replace losses the its just a pipe dream TEC are the real winners simply because they have the economic strength for a long-haul fight and its easier for players to grasp the superior economy the TEC allows

I vote yes on all of the ideas on the OP, and add some of my own: 1. research to improve the effectiness of the various Pacts 2. Research to increase duration.reduce cooldown of the Diplomatic Immunity ability 3. a new AI personality "Diplomat" who prioritises diplomatic relations etc 4. A new AI that is actually a challenge to beat not just a matter of time 5. More than one class of starbase for each faction (military/economic etc)
