thats the secret agenda mayall, shhhhh!! :)
Hmm this whole "don't go for extractor upgrades" thing is nonsense...these are precisely what you should go for as advent in the majority of pressure situations. Extractor upgrades are a quick, no risk addition to your economy that will always turn a profit (unless all your extractors are destroyed...rarely happens). You can lose early tradeports if you get into a fight too early and aren't prepared for this...and those losses are HUGE in the early game. There us
@semaz Good ideas :) You and I think alike on many levels. You should check out my post on making corvettes a higher tech for all the races except advent. This would mitigate the insanity of an early vasari neutral acquisition for corvette spam, as well as early TEC economy corvette spam, while still retaining the necessary early game advent rush capability. The tech requirements could be increased even further so that corvettes would come later in the mid
@ rovert Yep stardock/ironclad slap themselves in the face with every minidump...They need a battle.net type of framework if/when sins rebellion gets a huge # of sales. Even promising to improve this will go far in making this game a really big hit. Or they could just "build it, and they will come".
Hmm ya dirty's maps should get the recognition they deserve :). Yet at the same time he'll witness what a pain in the ass it can be getting 10ish people the same new maps... I enjoyed your race to paradise map, it would be a good one to show him because of the forced confrontation in the middle...it would get kinda crazy with all the corvette spam. I know you have it all in a special map pack :)
Research victory should require players to acquire artifacts. When it is enable it guarantees 2-5 artifacts in game via planetary exploration. Opponents must hold a different amount of artifact planets depending upon the game size. These artifacts are required for different stages of research completion, Just like how titans are built with their research.
This is done via: Corvettes absorbing titan firepower and debuffing the titan with their abilities. support cruisers + heavy cruisers, + antimatter stealing/destroying/EMP abilities. Fleet cohesion is the key, that or about 50+ bombers can force an unsupported lvl 1 titan to retreat.
and oddski gets a +1 karma
@ OP holy crap thats a lot :) Now i have a good set of gamer websites to use...mind keeping this up forever so i have a website reference list? :)
Quoting sareth01, reply 6 I didn't really get a feeling for how big and grand sins strategy is from the video he posted. Hopefully this will be better portrayed in another match. And you likely rarely or never will. Anything interesting about Sins gameplay comes through experiencing it. To an outside observer, it's really quite dull, like soccer.
Not true, a
its an age thing, trust me once you are 25+ you will be wanting a game like sins. You'll look back at this game when you replay it and be like...holy shit this is pure fucking gold!!!
yeah that would just be him getting his ass handed to him in 10 min. he wouldn't have to complain about a long ass game at all!! lol.
and, i would love love love to see sins shoutcasted. it is like, my dream.
+1 person has this dream as well. I want to open up a video game bar and I want to have sins games shoutcasted right along with starcraft games. IMO, it would appeal to two different crowds and bring in a larger audience
For effective balanced team play using the ICO system: Everyone goes team 10 at the start of the matches to ensure no confusion when teams are picked (Yes just like dodgeball...and yes the last player picked is dubbed the "fat kid"). The 2 team captains choose either team 1 or team 9 (not a rule per se, but ICO has been known to freak out with too many interactions, so its safest to keep server interactions to an absolute minimum...plus its also just good manner
Stardock let us know you care
But when if ever do they get all touchy feely? haha they are a vacuum of open discussion on the forums. @ mechalenin Great post, really digging the visionary aspect you've just revealed to everyone. :) Sounds like how i've always wanted sins to be like online...battle.net but better in concept, fit to sins.
These terms refer to multiplayer matches and how after a lot of experience the flow of how conflicts in sins tend to evolve. Early game - Rush or get a strong economy..or try to do both in some form of "middle style" of play. Easily acquired labs 1-2, possibly 3, early investment in these don't really hamper your match. Going beyond 3 labs is inviting a substantially weaker defense against an oppon
This tech, after research, would show you the real time credit/sec, metal/sec, and crystal/sec of your allies. After another upgrade it would show you these stats for opponents with scout vessels in a world colonized by an opponent. Only that opponents information would be displayed, so it would behoove the smart economy player to ensure that they have a guage on the opposing player's economy by maintaining scouts on all opponents.
yeah if we can just get him to portray the scale of the game i think this would really help the game. I didn't really get a feeling for how big and grand sins strategy is from the video he posted. Hopefully this will be better portrayed in another match. :)
I'm sure hes a busy guy. I'll probably emergency call in sick at work if the game conficts with my schedule.
Wow this is fricken awesome, sign me up for the match bro! +1 carpetbomb. Honestly, having us play a match or two, then have him play the replay so he can see ALL participants would be a really cool way to have him voice over for the match. Having one player's focus is just so limited, and i'm not sure he knows the capability that the playback function has (if it works in beta..i haven't tried it yet). That being said, we should have a game where he
@OP This is convenient actually, i'd rather the carriers don't go into harms way and die. Its an expensive loss and micromanagement of large fleets can get pretty crazy as it is. You should keep your carriers grouped away from the battle for an easy retreat/attack. You may not always want to send them in with your fleet first because they really do need their antimatter. Definately not a bug.
Bluecewe, i was in the game with you as carpetbomb. Its a regular occurence to have games crash, to have players get a minidump. I have always wished for a feature in a game like sins to have a rejoin option, this would be quite a nice addition to the RTS/RT4X genre. From what you've outlined it seems totally doable, but i'm sure that it hasn't ever been justified to the producers.
@ starfallarmada Yet the possibility is there, I will just look at the data and the actions that we can see from the developers in how they modify the game. I never EVER stake anything on reputation because too many people i've met never live up to a quarter of what their supposed "reputation" is. Also, i've been interacting with this company for a while, I also think they are quite good at what they do. This doesn't mean companies don't make mistak
hmm need to get this guy into some actual 5v5's...show him what this game is actually made of. Sure he'll be the fat kid, but he'll be our fat kid.
You might consider limiting the mobility of corvettes to owned gravity wells, so they can't be used to rush.
Or perhaps, the advent corvettes are the only ones that can warp in, and the other races corvettes are planetary defense only.
