If you think so spardason, please consider supporting this idea in my post (name is paraphrased) "making titans a MID GAME ship"

@ seleucia Don't give up the fight! :) If the developers have an "us vs them" mentality then yes we aren't going to get anywhere, and this beta will be a complete farce. It will be plainly clear if the devolopers do not actually increase titan tech requirements, something the community at large seems to agree with. This would be a marketing failure at a profound level. @ warloklord Adding tech requirements is the simplest way t
@ mcintire We are talking about stability issues on IRONCLAD ONLINE (ICO). That is what nightraider is talking about, that is what i'm talking about. The answer to you question isn't known to me. I'm sure its been puzzled over at ironclad games though. Ask them and see if you even get a response :). Its always been a minidump crash fest.
@ sinperium Well if they get rid of strong corvettes for the advent, the advent as a race will be screwed all over again...they might actually have to buff their economy..omg! But if you've been playing sins a long time, you know that the advent won't ever get the love they deserve. The devs prefer them to be relative fodder in the game, except for their tier zero/corvette rush. In this the developers have always intended this to be their "balance". T
But that is what the pros want them to be they want a giant, gleefully satisfying ball of corvettes that chew through everything
I'm not talking about corvettes. They are so fast anyways you can keep them in a relatively tight ball anyways...they should have to be moving or face a penalty that increases damage against them. Fighters and bombers however are completely justifie
Yes Nightrid3r disable those mods!
LOL... YA for you guys who don't play online regularly...MINIDUMPS have occurred since day one of sins release... Nightraid3r is completely right! You have no idea how many minidumps we've experienced. In my 700+ games played i've had at lease 150. A ~ 20% dump rate is completely unacceptable, and no amount of suggesting that "this is just happe
Hmm but things never being intended, yet stay in the game and aren't fixed due to negligence is kinda rediculous. This has found a place in the sins community, and frankly the developers could change their minds about it and find a way to ADD to the game, instead of subtract from the game. They worry about more variables, yet they will have more balance in the game the more things they add. Adding a huge amount to the amount of paths to victory, and then toning down
@ barebalo and Stein Good ideas :)
Hmm not an oversight at all... the game had years of play and this was a viable bit of micro. It had counters, like a kol flak burst or a halcyon TK push, as well as putting a group of fighters in similar formation. This adds to the versatility of fighter/bomber control that was always quite fun. Bombers were slow enough that this was a hard maneuver... I'd say Z axis controls are more of an exploit...not even having an automatically mapped hotkey and all t
@ goafan Exactly, so many simple and interesting techs aren't used because of this. To make these low use techs worth it have them cost like 100 credits and 10 metal or something like that..have them cost proportional to their noticable impact in the game... These could be subtle faction strengths instead of semi useless credit dumps.
Yet the micro you speak of is exactly what happens... You should see what I do with advent corvettes vs a ragnarov :). Micromanagement of corvettes is what makes them such fun unit to use, imo. I've seen many of these "megacorvette balls" that you speak of, and yes they are overpowered at the moment. I have several ideas on how to balance this out while ADDING to the game.
@ volt Yes this is a good idea. /signed
This would make more sense as a tier 1 or two military tech.
To answer your question: Via Advent pressure on the opposing force with their corvettes and tier zero spam. A player under pressure will have a harder time getting a titan. Also, since this will be hard to balance perfectly, keep the in the reserve a plan B for balance, to reduce advent titan costs. Check out my most recent corvette balance thread outlining unique uses for corvettes for the 3 factions here: <a href="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/42
Perhaps advent are the only phase drive capable corvettes? In this way advent make up for their early eco advantage and all the other races can defend against the corvettes...except when the advent move to other gravity wells...oh well! i think i want your moon and asteroid, NOM NOM!
Ah titans are a great idea, and completely doable. For understanding what i mean by "mid game", please refer to this post : https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/421761 Its just HOW they are incorporated into the game. The development decision to say "titans will be a early mid game ship" is more detriment
Ah titans are a great idea, and completely doable. Its just HOW they are incorporated into the game. The development decision to say "titans will be a early mid game ship". This is more detrimental to game balance then anything else, they asked for this knowing full well that they were upsetting the game at so many levels(did they get a new design leader who wanted to make their mark on the game? please god tell me no!). The player base doesn't like the game getting to
@ seleucia ah I agree there, so many techs...like who ever researches lingering presence for advent scouts? this should just be inherent so that scouting is more interesting at the start of the game...
@ seleucia Well this wouldn't be a useless tech, it would be VERY relevant and I can guarentee that i'd be researching it quite often. This isn't so relevant for single player play, but it could be if the AI was ever designed to attack constructors first (to simulate human players). The nice thing about adding new tech into the game is that its easy, and cost effective for the developers to do so, with few bugs. +100 to developers incorporating business m
The war has been going on for a long time now, and the little guys doing all the work haven't had good job security from day 1. Yes i'm talking about the noble constructors that we all know and love, and that we LOVE to destroy as target priority #1. These guys should go on strike from how terrible their working conditions are. So here is my suggestion, now that corvettes are in the game and REALLY threaten the livelihood of these guys, lets have something to m
Here are some good overall roles for corvettes per each race: TEC: Strong mid to late game attrition ship for the TEC, not uniquely strong at anything, worst ship in the game when it is compared to any other ship for damage/cost. At the same time, its fast, allowing the TEC superior economy to directly impact fights from a distance that no other ship in the game can provide them with. Good at anti bomber capability for late game. Tech level 4 on the mil
Hmm i'd rather them cash in on this expansion and really "develop the shit" out of sins 2. Planetary amphibious assault! come on you know you want it...in some form...nukes are so boring nowadays. Planetary defenses were awesome in Distant Stars...Just think of the intricate fight it would require to take or hold a planet with having to defend the planet as well as the starbase... I know i'm crazy, the technology is impossible...yadda yadda. I'm st
@ seleucia Decrease the speed of corvettes and you nerf them the simplest way possible. -Increases the damage they take, they have to be in the danger zone longer -Decreases the dps they do, fewer flyby's, fewer hits -Decreases their ability to be spammed at great distances and still support the fleet effectively. -Makes it harder for them to run away from slower flak ships so that flak become a stronger counter, fighters likewise wo
In general the beam techs of the advent have been becoming more and more irrelevant in the game. First there was the grandaddy of advent nerfs, the illuminator "bug" nerf. Then the bomber spam nerf to capital ships, bombers just did 15% less damage to them. While needed, this really gave vasari capitals an indirect buff and allowed them to really widen the advantage against the advent in a early starbase rush situation. Now with corvettes there i
Just think of it like you are watching a tactical starmap where non-essential objects are altered in size to help you focus on the important stuff.
In my view the planets are the essential focal point of the game. Holding planets, or not can greatly alter the course of an encounter...planets should have more "personality" that makes them more unique. The planets in sins never felt like they were really worth fightin
