Flibaboua, great well thought out noob questions. I wish I had an army of noobs to teach just like you. I don't know if you can still preorder rebellion or not, but if you can please come online and add "carpetbomb" to your friends list and i'll help you learn the game, and learn the unit counters and basic survival skills. I don't stomp noobies for pleasure, i'd rather have us both get a strong economy so that I can throw things at you and you can learn to

I agree chronobomb. Making planets larger, and at the same time dividing them up into regions that could be programmed to have an orbital assault aspect to the game would be very interesting. In this way movement and combat in 3d space would be made relevant, as you would attack the most vital aspects of a planets surface. Naturally i'm implying that the developers would have to improve the mechanic of planetary acquisition to include using a form of randomiz
hmm take a look at the thread I just made about truce among rogues...i think i've had a good idea. :) https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/421090
I make this suggestion because TAR will be very difficult to balance, yet it is a great idea and adds a lot of fun to the eco spot. It pretty much says, do you want to go trade, or do you want craploads of planets with tactical superiority? I love having these sort of important choices, and would be sad to see TAR go and/or be marginalized to a heavy degree. Edit: I guess I could say in a few words, with my idea i'm trying to simulate the initial outbreak of
honestly the early culture faction abilities for the advent should be made at lower tiers. Lower cost facilities for the advent rebels, and the planetary culture for the advent loyalists. in this way the advent would already be providing pressure against their opponents early expansion into their territory. I suggest for the advent rebels to have their "cheaper temples of harmony" be an automatic cost decrease for that faction not requiring research. Also
Hmm good idea. imo, if income is set to fast the titan should be made at a SLOWER rate, to give players more time so they don't have to worry about titan rushing as much...Titans shouldn't be able to counter early pressure unless the player has a TON of early feed. Why? Because early attacks are fun, and they should be effective if a player executes them correctly, and the defender fails to defend properly... They are easy enough to fend off if you counter properly, forc
Hmm good idea about the area effect boarding party. Retain the high cooldown/cost, but allow for multiple ship capture. I'd say tops 5 ships affected at once, its a bit one sided at the start of the game to have any more ships switch sides so fast. Also, i don't know how this would affect the other support abilities for this ship, ensure that they are also balanced. This ship would be a great anti advent/vasari ship at start.
Oh this suggestion isn't a "z-axis the crap out of the game please" request. This is a request for finer building placement within the established Z axis in the game, so that its not random and looking like crap. I think it would look cool to have a 3x3 -4x4 "wall" of defense turrets protecting your buildings.
A good way to tell is to go online onto ICO and play some multiplayer. Go play some of the pros. What you will need: 1. Tissue 2. Stop watch The tissue is for the tears for your first 10-100 losses in a row. The stop watch is to guage how long it will take for you to get steamrolled. A higher time per game will indicate progress. When you can last 1 hour against another player in multiplayer, you will be well on your way of
The base is 1500 for both diplomacy and rebellion...with the shield techs (4 of them at 5% bonus each), that puts it at 1800...
In addition to seleuceia's reply, the guardians also require tech 5 for repulsion, which costs an insane amount of crystal. Honestly the advent tech tree is a nightmare of high priced abilities.
Hmm i stand corrected on EMP...i was hit by magnetize...lol. I remember now being surprised ages ago by the magnetize interrupt...Dunovs are champs :).
Corsevs, lower antimatter cost for boarding, and lower cooldown... imo.
@ Sagewon Thanks for the compliment :) Yes that shield repair facility should be Military tier 2-3 tops, it should be the early game defensive advantage the advent rebels bring to the game. In this way advent capitals would be less threatened in general and this would go a long way to making them "feel" different then their loyalist counterparts. I would say the biggest help to the advent countering a TAR planet grab would be to have the cheapest planet bombers in the ga
@ SemazRalan early april fools joke, imo. They knew april fools would occur over the weekend, and didn't want to miss out on the fun. :) There is a lot to like about the advent in the new release, we are talking about 1 ability here that doesn't shine like it should, and the potential to have more capital ship abilities work on titans. also, i've had my missile barrage interrupted by only a dunov, after i've activated the ability...so Seleuc
Well that's just bizarre. Detonate AM doesn't work and yet EMP does? Edit - Though I guess it's because Detonate AM also disables abilities. EMP Charge is going to be a massive problem for Advent Titans.
Well EMP also disables ability use as well, for a short time. I would say as it is the developers need to do more with the capital ship abilities affecting titans then they are currently.&n
So a theory that earth has already been found by numerous extra terrestrial enteties and have been interacting with us throughout our entire history just went up a few notches. :)
Quoting sareth01, reply 13 I've got a big wall o' text, I know, i've got lots of free time to type at work. Thanks for reading it. Well if you were directing it at me, it was a little much for someone who already mostly agreed with you. You just find it a bigger deal about your opponent being able to determine its activation, I find it a bigger factor that it won't be used very often. I
well good, because that is the main point :) I've got a big wall o' text, I know, i've got lots of free time to type at work. Thanks for reading it.
I understand precisely how the ability works. What I am saying is that I also know precisely how to neutralize this ability as it is to render it totally useless. Your enemy controls the ability activation. You give the movement advantage to the oppoenent. Your fleet will be at a disadvantage the entire time, because while the opponents titan is using its level 6 ability to full awesome effect, yours is an ability that only works if you mess up, and can be
50% is just a ballpark number...i'm sure it would be balanced to be far lower, for more capital ships. If it was a 5% chance at ability level one, then it increased by increments of 5% per ability level then you would get a 20% chance max to influence a titan. So with 5 capital ships of the same time the titan could be effectively limited in what it could do. To be fair, the game already has this counter in it, 5 dunovs will not only render a titan helpless, it will do s
Capital ship abilities should be able to work on titans. They should have some performance degradation, say ion bolt level 4 would have a 60% chance of shutting down a titan. Also, the efficacy of this ability could be reduced as well, say the duration of the "stun" would be cut in half, or cut in 1/3 It would not be totally reliable, yet it still would have a chance to work. All capital abilities could be balanced against titans this way, instead of
I'd say that discussing this isn't prudent in this forum, because stardock/ironclad is a game company and therefore naturally wants as much control over their IP as possible.
Yes any race seems bland when faced against its counterpart... But it is important for us beta testers to buck up and deal with it because we want to provide useful data for effective game balance. The beta is to improve the game first. Second place goes to us getting to see new content before it is released.
