The strategies one can employ in this game is heavily dependent on their current situation. Someone that is positioned between two allies is expected (in multiplayer circles, at least) to grab as many planets as possible and go purely economy in order to "feed" their allies (giving credits/resources), for example. It is widely known that long range frigates provide the best damage for cost in the early stages of a game, and as a consequence, light frigates should not be built until th

Trading technologies? Once that happens, I hope we can deal with Advent fleets that have been hardened with the TEC's armoring techologies while utilizing the Vasari's Phase Stabilizer technologies to move about quickly, not to mention their already powerful shields. Then it just becomes a contest of who can come up with the best mixture of the three race's technologies.

The 5x2 menu at the bottom right of the UI correspond with the 10 keys (in the same 5x2 arrangement) at the top left of your keyboard (that is, QWERT correspond to the five buttons on the top row, ASDFG for the five buttons on the bottom row). For instance, if you select a Kol, the key mapping would be as follows: Q -> Gauss Rail Gun W -> Flak Burst E -> Adaptive Forcefield R-> Finest Hour T -> Ability Management A -> Attack S -> (I f

The Flagship designation is automatically reassigned to the next highest capital ship if the original Flagship was destroyed.

I think you're confusing the flagship designation with the fleet leader. A ship that has been assigned as the leader of a fleet will have an icon over it and when you click on that icon, the entire fleet is selected. All that's required is for you to select one or more ships and create a fleet with those ships. The sub-selected ship becomes the fleet leader. The flagship designation, by contrast, is EXCLUSIVE to capital ships and is assigned only when you have one capital ship

All that's really necessary is a few Repair Bays and a capital ship to ward off pirate attacks. Just keep the cap within range of the repair bays and it'll start accumulating experience. Pirate Cutthroats and Rogues (their light frigates) will invariably give trade ships priority - they will ignore everything else to chase down these ships. Sometimes these ships are leading the raiding group, so you may see Corsairs (the Pirate HC) following them, although they tend to go after your o

Returning Armada now requires you to pay a certain amount of resources in order to use it. Each stabilizer can only bring in ships every 15 minutes at level 1 RA, every 10 minutes at level 2 RA.

Is the rework of Adept Drone Anima on the Halcyon Entrenchment Only? I've added two points to ADA on a Halcyon, yet it still only produces the old effect of adding one extra strikecraft per squadron per point. The description of the ability when you mouse over it also hasn't been fully changed - it says it will add a squadron, yet the green text says "Extra strike craft: #". This took place in Vanilla Sins.

Refineries for TEC and Vasari. Advent cannot exploit these extra resources beyond capturing them. Refinery ships visit any owned extractor within one phase jump of the refinery they originate from.
Now, how about some allied racial combos? I think a level 6 Marza, and a level 6 Kortul Devastator would be absolutely devastating, but I've never seen the combo. Fire the Kortul's Volatile Nanites before Missile Barrage. It increases damage by 30%, and as each ship dies, spreads additional damage (150 to everything within 1000 range) thoroughout the duration!
Throw Malice in and very little will sur

Well, losing a trade ship doesn't directly cause you to lose credits, but it does reduce the credit income that is coming from the trade port that trade ship originated from (so, over the time it takes to rebuild that trade ship, you're losing out on what that ship could have made).

Psychic ability amongst the Advent population can be made analogous to height in the world's population. On average, men are taller than women, but not all men are taller than all women. So, applying this analogy to the Advent, on average, women are more psionically talented than men, but not all women have stronger psychic talents than all men. So, it is entirely possible that one man with unusually powerful psychic talents could be commanding the odd crew, though whether this is all

About the possible crewing of each ship... the Advent's Tier 7 tech (called Telekinetic Protection) increases the armor of its ships due to Psi-Tech adepts holding the molecules of the hull more tightly. This would imply that they do have psionically talented crew onboard each and every ship.

Out of all this discussion, there is no mention of the Aluxite Dynasty? The Opening Cinematic does mention this era of humanity's existence, though briefly. The reference goes along the lines of: "When the Aluxite Dynasty fell, the Trade Order suspended its agenda and rebranded itself as the Trader Emergency Coalition." In fact, if you pay attention to the faction names of neutral militia, one of them is called the Aluxian Refugees. </blockquo

Iconus Guardians can be rolled out after three Hostility labs, Repluse after five (not six). There are also home field advantages to take into account: an attacking fleet meeting an equally sized defending fleet are at a disadvantage if the defenders have tactical structures (namely, repair bays) in close enough proximity to the battlefield or they have one or more frigate factories at the planet replacing ships lost in the battle. This way, the defending ships become more difficult t

In terms of military technologies, the TEC is focused on armor technologies, the Advent on shields, and the Vasari Phase Missiles. In terms of civilian technologies, the TEC leads in credit economies, the Advent on culture, and the Vasari on resource economies. However, players with powerful economies will inevitably win wars of attrition, simply being able to more quickly replace losses than a player with a weaker economy. In terms of ship construction, the TEC probably has a distinc

That's not always the case, though it does sometimes happen. I did however have cases where the AI colonized planets, but couldn't afford the Population Infrastructure upgrades so those planets were constantly losing it credits. All I needed to do then was take out the planets producing credits and any trade ports and the AI surrendered soon after.

Just be wary that placing culture centres in grav wells with lots of phase lanes causes the spread rate on each individual phase lane to be very slow (at 5 phase lanes, you're spreading at 2 culture/sec with an unupgraded culture centres).

Repair bays are your best friend against pirate raids (especially if used in groups of 2 or more). These will prolong the lifetime of nearby ships and structures. Aside from capital ships, early raids consist mostly of Cutthroats and Rogues which are countered by LRFs. Later in the game you'll want bombers or support ships when Corsairs (the pirate HC) start appearing.

The AI does surrender if it determines that you have an insurmountable advantage that it can't overcome.

More often than not, culture is used as a means for economic and fleet boosts. Culture that makes it to enemy planets and is able to overcome competing cultures will provide your ships bonuses at their planets as well. Although it happens infrequently, culture has the potential to be used as support on the offense.

On a realistic basis, carriers might cost more (with material to build strikecraft, training crew to pilot them), but as it stands, carrier capitals aren't a formidable force until their abilities get up to scratch.
