There is an option in user interface to hide trade and refinery ship icons. Clicking the actual ship by accident then is pretty impossible.

Some mods don't work with every version of the game. If you have Entrenchment beta installed there is most likely NO compatible mod. Check the mods readme file or forum post to find out which version is supported.

Refineries (TEC and Vasari for sure) only affect extractors in the same gravity well and the next. So it's better to build a mesh of them through your empire than clustering all of them on one planet. How far the extraction boost of Advent trade ports that use the resource focus ability reaches is unknown to me though.

[e digicons][/e]
Should you not at the very least get a coloniser and a few frigates in compensation for trying to save your own ass from being ownd
That would be cool! Pretty much the best gameplay improvement I've read so far.

A neat little program that even cleans up after those lazy programs, that leave registry entries or config files on your harddrive, is RevoUninstaller !

What version of the game are you running (Impulse will tell you, or look into the bottom right corner in the games main menu). Now open the .galaxy file with a text editor and check the "versionNumber" at the very top. it has to be 2 if you play 1.1 or later, 1 if you play 1.05 or earlier. Just edit it and save the file (check if the text editor appends .txt after the .galaxy and correct that if needed). :-)

OK, go to System Controls > System > Advanced > System performance > Advanced (I hope this is accurate, since I use a german WinXP version. A screenshot can be found here: drop.io/tqnpund ) Here you should be able to change the virtual memory settings. I have set 2.3GB manually on the partition where the game is installed. I think 1x or 2xRAM-size is good for virtual memory. Hope that helps! <p
Do media hubs in adjacent gravity wells prevent me from taking over planets?
Yes, media hubs project cultural influence along the phase lanes (watch the color change).
I guess it boils down to how do I counter my opponents culture?
By building your own media hubs (don't bother building too much of them in the heart of your empire), improving them through research and so on. Advent can also use their super weapon to deliver their culture to

Hello! I want to try playing both versions of the game. So far I just duplicated the SoaSE+Entrenchment folder. With Impluse I deinstalled Entrenchment from the original folder [A]. Now Impulse shows both versions as available. But when I now chose install SoaSE 1.12 and select the [A] folder Impulse redownloads the entire 700 something MB install package. Any ideas why that is or if my idea works at all? Since both "installations" of the game would use the same AppData/LocalS

Hejhej! I played a small random map against AI and suddenly got the star explorer bagde. I'm pretty sure that: - this happened way after one of my ships entered the stars gravwell (which shouldn't trigger the achivement anyway, since i'm supposed to travel to another star right?) - I didn't research the phase-jump-to-another-star-technology - and didn't find the phase-jump-to-another-star-enhanching artifact Screenshot, .save and .stats

I had minidumps, too. Apparently they are related to texture loading. So after turning the quality settings down (not using "highest") everything worked fine. Appart from the little bugs and glitches you wrote. If it's not too late, try it and save you the time redownloading everything again.
I'd prefer to see it leave the colony under your control, at 1 health and 0 population. That way you still have the ability to build in the system. Losing the colony takes that away, even if the enemy can't colonize it.
I second that! Although I understand the intend to have the planet be no mans land when the colony is destroyed but a SB is still intact.
-Upgrading the weapon systems on the Vasari Starbase seems useless right now as I never see them firing long range missles
I also haven't seen a TEC SB use it's beam weapons :-(
-Weapon Ranges need to be increased on starbases to cover a wider area.
Definitely! I think they should cover at least some 30% of a gravwell! Or keep the current range and allow multiple starbases per well [e digicons][/e]

Where did you safe the .galaxy file? You have to move it to the Galaxy folder in the game's directory (default: \Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ The game will put the map into one of the three categories small, medium or large. No idea how this is determined. There is also a Galaxy folder in \USERNAME\Applicationdata\Local Settings\Ironcladgames\Sins of a Solar Empire\, maybe you can put it there, too. Then the map probably appears in the game under Custom Maps.</

Well, doing a quick calculation in my head there may be some 10 to the 10th power possible combinations of graphic settings [e digicons][/e] Which ones cause a chrash, which ones don't?

Redownloading the whole game again is annoying, since I get only 50kbytes/s downspeed here in middle Europe :-( I usually sync the whole game folder to another drive before updating.

After turning down every graphic setting, the game now works : - ))) "unicatsins" suggested just not using "highest" for textures, which apparently worked also.
