I don't think their insane. I think they made a bad choise when they nerfed carriers with the build penalty. And that's normal everyone makes mistakes and sometimes shit doesn't work out as you planned it would. As long as they fix the problema nd turn the situation back around I am cool with it. But if this game remains a Carrier spam I will not only continue to not play Entrenchement online. I'll just not buy the 2nd and 3rd expansion, for I want
In theory though I agree, mitigation is meant to stop focus fire. In practice it doesn't do a great job. it could also be a factor of how much damage/how many ships are firing at once. i mean, 67% mitigated from 100 damage (per second whatever) means there are 33 units of damage incoming and being effective however, 33% effective fire from lets say 1000 is 330 units of incoming damage per second whatever.<b

As I'm playing right now, I notice that hoshikos will not repair my capital ships on their own. They will automatically cast repair drones on cruisers and frigates but not capitals, I have to manually do it for each one. Kind of irritating watching my caps die because the support cruisers just sit around. Also, shouldn't the priority of repair casting be set to the most valuable ship? I see Dunovs casting Shield restore on a puny little carrier that has full hull while my capital ship right n
Quoting Tkins, reply 2The movement speed decrease for carriers was to stop people from "kiting" which i think is running the carriers around a grav well while the strike craft killed everything else. There is a simple counter to that, build basic assualt frigates. If the player just keeps on spamming lrms, then he deserves to lose.
If assault frigates = light frigates, then yes I agree. <

Sounds pretty good! I like all the changes, I think they reflect the community's thoughts. The only thing missing is to fix the LRF spam that has got a bunch o' folks up in arms. Perhaps a small increase in cost to all LRF's (very small like 20 credits and 5 resources) with a slight decrease to hull and shields? I think Carriers reflect where they should be in relation to other ships now. The issue seems to be with the cost to benefit

Oh I see. There are a lot of people that actually argue mitigation is broken and actually aids focus fire because the healing abilities of a ship will negate small amounts of damage. So since mitigation lowers damage to such a small amount it is often better to overcome the shield regen by focus firing. In theory though I agree, mitigation is meant to stop focus fire. In practice it doesn't do a great job. :(

There are a ton of great ideas so far in this thiread. Super impressed! As for my own suggestions, (the ones I didn't see covered in this thread): 1) Dimplomatic AI AI will try to ally, create good relations, with other players in a strategic manor. They won't just give you missions and ally with you if you complete them. They will try to build up with those players who are stronger,
Tkins: The point of mitigation is to reduce Focus Fire from being The Only Way To Play to being a tactical choice with costs - you can choose to take out a single target quickly, or several targets more efficiently (but slowly). The issue at hand (at least at the immediate moment) is that damage mitigation does not do this. Rather, everything tends to climb to its cap

At the moment I can't see anything. The order of the threads change to show that people have posted, but I can't see anything in any of the new posts in any of the threads.
v1.16 The proposals to increase the powers of carrier capitals and slow LRMs also seem solid. I'm not sold on the reversal of the strikecraft build penalties though- perhaps this could be made an attribute of the carrier capitals instead, so that combat penalties are ignored if one is nearby?
YES! I like this.
I don't think I ever looked exactly at how mitigation worked, just what it means and what it does. but yes, a single or few ships should not result in high mitigation whereas a lot of ships should trigger high mitigation soon, at best higher still than the current max. I also like the idea of the ship under fire penalty, but I don't think it will work. this may make it less interesting to ff on frigates and cruisers, but if you have to
