So instead, could I create a new building "the tourist trap" that spreads culture? Maybe the building doesn't spread culture, but if we can make ships spread culture, couldn't we make a trade port that spawns trade ships. But these trade ships wouldn't carry any money but they would have a passive ability that spreads culture. Would that work? to make the trade ports produce resources, what if the ships had a passive ability that gave resources? LO

Yeah I saw you post the Star files, but I didn't see the JI. Maybe i'm too noob to figure out which is which lol.
Hey good idea. I can make the cruise ships generate culture and credits! Brilliant! Could you make it so that your culture is negatively affected upon destruction of a cruise ship? I'll let you in on my other idea. I'm making an Empire race. They will mostly have cruisers (in my mod cruisers will be much larger) and battleships as their main fleet. Their frigates will be scouts, colonizers and The Queens Propoganda Machine a
I was also wondering. How come you can't give the star a passive ability like the jump inhibitor? I don't know much about coding, so could you post the ability you have made and right below it the ability of the phase jump inhibitor?
Ok I thought up a new one over night. Let's see if I can stump you hahaha ;) So right now we have trade ports and refineries. Would it be possible to combine these into a third building? I want to have 3 economic buildings. Refinery (refinery ships travel to mines and extract more resources) Trade Ports (trade ships travel between trade ports and bring in more credits, metal and crystal) and Tourist Traps (Cruise ships travel between tourist traps
Sounds interesting
You could make a map where all the planets are 1 jump away from each other. Then the gun can only fire to the adjacent planet. ?
How can I get a ship to produce culture?
Well, if you're good at it, you'll tie up his cap ship when the pirates attack. Then he either has to ditch out on your attack and go get experience from the pirates, or let the pirates eat away at his buildings. And if no one is bidding, you can put a 500 cr bounty. Very cheap to have a second attack on one of his planets. I'd say the pros turn it off because they find it a nuissance rather than less strategy.
[quote who="Shadow_of_Light" reply="25" id="1959877"]first thing you should try is hae a fun game, i made alot of friends this way, even enterd myself a clan.... tough practicly dead now, i learned alot from everyone i now consider a friend MOST fun games are played with friends, it's pretty rare to get the same satisfactional feeling playing with unknowns...., even if you do lose... losing = learning (if u lose the good way "with friends")
LOL just 'cause the pros don't do it doesn't mean it's less strategy. How is it less strategy not having pirates?
I notice a lot of people turn the pirates off. I find it makes the game duller. Less strategy.
I'm thoroughly amazed at some of the models in this game. I jumped on last night for a bit to play as CIS. Some of those ships are so well done! Kudos to your modeling abilities. Does anyone know what causes the ships to lose their formation? I think Eviljedi had mentioned it somewhere, all the ships seem to bunch up into a little ball. At first I thought it was because the ships have short ranges, but even if they aren't attacking they seem to keep very close to one another, li
Yeah I'm hoping to use it in one of my factions.
Sounds like Eve!
I would like to know the answers to these as well. Also, you can browse through this thread I've started and ask questions there too. Maybe you'll find some answers to future questions or be able to help me out. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/329761 Cheers!
I know about that but I don't think that's what he's experiencing here.
Sorry, I've helped to derail this thread off topic. I'll stop posting here. My appologies. I'll download this mod tonight and see how it goes. I tried out the original way back in may, it was pretty neat.
Hmm what damages would they sue you for? They would have to prove that they had a game in comission that was in direct competition with yours. Maybe american courts are different, but where I'm from you can only be sued for damages. So if you made a mod that didn't cost the company any money they really couldn't do much. Something like the halo starcraft mod would because it might affect their game sales. I'd imagine the game they'd be designing would have t
LOL I got news for ya... There is a "Z-Axis" and very much like homeworld you can command your fleets to go above or below objects. Unless they took it out of patch 1.11, you just have to go to your key bindings and give the z-axis command a key. I use ~.
What's Bruce Lee's favourite drink? WATAAAAAH!!!
Yaeh I guess if it might affect their sales that might be grounds for copy right infringement. From my understanding of copy rights though, if you aren't making money off it it's fair game. I'd have to do a little more research though.
I would guess you aren't developing your planets. If you simply colonize a planet and leave it as it, it actually loses you money rather than gains you money. Hover over your credit menu and any planet listed in red will be draining you of credits. To solve this, click on a planet, go to planet upgrades and select the one on the top left. If you hover over it and read it, the icon explains what it does. An astroid usually only needs one upgr
Even if he was, how would he shut down someone's mod? I don't really think it possible.
