I would like them to have a hybrid of all 3 races' techs with respect to SB's as it would show how, maybe, they purchased the techs on the black market.
Well, they are still pirates, and as such they would probably fit the weapons to suit their needs better. (More brute force is one of the current pirate "trademarks" in SoaSE, no shields etc.) The pirate units could be based on existing vessels, but modified

One way would be to make the Pirate base some sort of half-planet/half-starbase, as it actually is (visually at least ^^) a base built into an astroid. (And asteroids counts as planets in SoaSE so...) So therefore (these could be upgraded as the threat levels increase as well) it would be nice to see that the base itself had some defensive or offensive capabilities, such as hangars, weaponry, etc. etc. As said, these capabilites could increase as the threat level grows. Also,

Some more frequent actual beta updates can be neat too, as the devs get feedback on the changes they do. We're testing a beta which they probably have reworked quite a lot over the weeks. (In part to the massive feedback, one would assume...) So a beta update before release would definately help testing the game out anyway :) Other than that I don't really need any dev diaries and changelogs if we can't test them anyway, I have full confidence in the developers :) (Although, as s

You guys have got more coming :) You've recieved Strategy Game of the Year 2008 award from PC Gamer Sweden, so a grats on that as well as all of the others, job well done! :)

Or maybe it was only on the original release and not the north american port. Tages is pretty recent in comparison.
In the EU version it's TAGES (plus some custom triggers) at least :) The NA version should be the same, while the Russian version most likely had Starforce. The TAGES version had some interesting copy protection measures as I recall. (I work

Darkstar One uses T.A.G.E.S., not Starforce :) Just FYI. It's decent, but Freelancer is much better in every aspect, and they're really similar. (Plus the DS1 story is quite ridiculous tbh ^^)

There's one word that do it for me; "Homeworld" - the cinematic feeling in that game makes me get huge shivers down my spine. The black/white cutscenes... everything is just so right. That and Cataclysm deserve to be played at least 10 times through. :) Freespace and Freespace 2 are also classics, damn good actually, with innovative and definately lasting gameplay. The X-Wing/TIE Fighter series, if you have a computer that can handle them (486 ftw ^^) are also sweet. I

Relic was also early, CoH for example has no copy protection at all, and in later versions (2.300->) also employed the online patching (with a login or cd-check as well though, but earlier versions had none of that). So way to go, Relic/THQ! This is making buying the game a whole lot more fun! (Have had it pre-ordered since October, but well... ^^) Developers should learn that the GTA IV approach is definately not the way to go, a big kick in the head to R* for that big
I've thought about locking it more than once. [Much more so today as the attacks have increased] but have not because while arguing poorly the responses have (for the most part) been interesting and informative. If another potential user stumbles across this post, for the most part they will find a possible misconception with good responses. Other than punishing epiclulz (who could create a new post) what would we gain? <br

Why you should read the EULA? BECAUSE YOU ACCEPT IT WHEN YOU INSTALL THE GAME? - you can't come complaining if you do not know the contents of it, or even less accept them. That IS the way it is, and you can't turn that around no matter how much you try. And don't come here saying you shouldn't obey laws just because they don't fit with your ethical views. For the record, I haven't recieved a dime from Stardock or IC, you see, I pay them for a damn good g

Alright, first; "supposedly 500,000 owners" - why should Stardock or any other party lie about this? I think they know a little bit better than anyone else how many bought their game. (By the way, I never play SoaSE online, and never will, due to the fact that a good game takes several hours, and I only play MP for that long at a nice LAN party - there, that said.) " Red Alert 2 gets 3x that in a day and its like 10

Oh my gosh... Epiclulz, first of all; get some knowledge of marketing laws, the supplier of a product has no obligations whatsoever against a second-hand customer, all those are towards the direct buyer of the product. (This applies not only to games, but to most other things as well. - I work in the PC component business, and have quite some knowledge of this, denying second-hand customers warranty of a product someone else bought. That is because the marketing laws in affect does not mentio

I'd actually say; more research, and it would be nice to see some exclusive options as well (ie. research option 1 and you wont be able to research option 2). I'm all for customization ^^ So I see really no negatives in another research tree :)
I have to agree that this game should have multicore support; you can exactly have "epic" scale games on just one core. I usually play with 11 hard AIs with about 250 planets - it slowly starts to lag more about 2-3 hours into the game. How hard it is to rewrite a program to support multicores... I don't know... might require a major overhaul so devs probably won't do it. One solution for this, that helps a lit
And don't say that you can't use many capital ships effectively, I despise frigates, and only use them when necessary. (As little as possible in other words.) - Some level 8+ capital ships can take on a lot of foes. Have you tried this against anything other then AI? Unless you have a lvl 6+Marza in your fleet, frigs/cruisers will own a cap fleet, especially since it is hard to get lots of cap to high exp levels as they share the exp.....

Just a little bump for more added and updated bugs, please add any notes or other stuff regarding these if you have :)

I must say I disagree on some points; 1) A fully upgraded (armor) starbase is quite strong. 2) Please, do not make it mobile, these things are made to be bases , a base is usually meant to be somewhat static. Increasing the limit of starbases in a gravity well from 1 to 2 would be far better. (There should be some drawbacks though, to stop this from becoming impossible to beat - such as they take up all the tactical slots or so.) 3) A built-in phase inh

Due to the fact that this will mention several bugs and opinions I'd rather make a new thread than look up all corresponding threads in the forum, make what you want of it :) Bugs: 1) The Akkan class vessel sets auto-colonize as you give it move orders into unknown systems, not known if this occurs for other races' colonize-able ships aswell. This is (as I found out when using more ships along with the ones able to colonize) a problem that the game prioritizes t
