That and check your orbit radius as well, that puts stuff further out away from the star.

I recall one of the maps in Darvins had two distinct sides, a 5v5, where there were a few nice chokepoints dividing both sides. Something like that would probably be good for Diplomacy. If I can get galaxy forge working again I can work on some new maps, and perhaps with a little help from Darvin we can get a big map pack out and try and distribute the crap out of it.
Its an interesting change of pace to have a few of those neutral colonies scattered around a large map, or littered in an unoccupied system, or sometimes its cool to have them on any terran or desert planets in the system so someone cant just waltz in with a colonizer cap and nab the most valuable of worlds, throw up some turrets and leave. Mbaron, check out my guide for custom map designer tips, its stickied in the mod section of the forum.
I think we're really going to need some custom maps designed specifically for Diplomacy
Do I smell another custom map pack coming? [e digicons][/e]
Well Klassen you aren't entirely incorrect, rather far from it. Its true that many of the diplomatic features really shine in FFAs, but there are still many features that make a rather large impact on locked team games, more specifically pacts. In team games, while the early game remains very similar to the old way (with the obvious exceptions of researched feed and increase speeds) pacts really come into play in the mid to late game, and can have a huge impact on the outcome. Agreed, I would have certainly gotten tired of playing this game a year ago if it weren't for the Online experience. 10x more challenging and 10x more fun.
2 Marzas also do the trick nicely. Though not as effectively
I like the caption under the photo of the fat guy in his underwaer saying "this is what Real heroes look like". Yeah that last bit about ads is quite disturbing.
Definitely play regular (AKA Vanilla) Sins. Its an exectuable file and it should be in the start menu with Sins- Entrenchment and Sins - Diplomacy. Dirty Sanchez advice for starting out will get you going. Most importantly though (a mistake soo many new players make) is underdevelopment tax. If you mouse over a planet and where it says "Tax" is red, it is taking money from you. To correct that make sure the planets infrastructure is upgraded. It took me several games to figure out that red =
Played a sweet 3v3. Pacts are friggin cool as hell.
I broke down and ordered it. I sure hope I like it and find it to be worthwhile.
I dont think you'll be disappointed
Its actually not like that at all. Faster income (as well as faster build speeds) allows you to respond faster to threats, but doesnt necessarily mean you don't ever run out of money. I've found that the increased income allows you to actually build an economy while your expanding, and then quickly switch to military when confronted by a nearby enemy. Faster resource rates doesnt change the fact that better economy = stronger military, especially since it effects all players exactly the same.
Hey Dirty, I can see how it that would be a little offensive. I logged onto entrench last night, got a little excited that there was a game up, only to find that it was someone telling me to play diplomacy. i had just came from diplomacy where there were no games up. Usually I go check diplomacy for games and If I dont see any, I log on to entrench. I'm sure if I had a little patience I could get one going on Diplo, but I often don't. Im hoping that the Diplo community will get larger
I try to, but if I get on diplo and dont see any games available, I go back to entrench.
IVe been playing both entrenchment and diplomacy online. During peak hours there are enough players on both servers to find games, and non-peak hours still have a decent amount of players on entrenchment. I played a 2v2 at 6:30am EST this morning on entrenchment.
Every now and then two lone opposing caps will end up in the same gravity well. It can happen sometimes. If the opposing enemy capital ship is a high level Vasari Evacuator (the Egg), then you should probably run away unless you have a Radiance (which will remove the Egg's ability to fire nanites).
Ok, it happens, not very often, but on a rare occasion. Who do you think would win though, a lvl6 egg or a lvl6 desolator. Or how about a lvl6 egg and a lvl6 Duno
Disintegrate. It damages shields, hull and AM of target unit and restores the shields , hull and AM of the devastator. It was semi recently buffed and is now pretty decent, though its utility in general was never very good. Kind of a glorified egg nanite bomb. Don't get me wrong 1v1 its one of the best cap ships and would certainly stomp its TEC and Advent counterparts of equal level, but when do you ever have caps fighting 1v1?
Vasari are masters of phase space. With their phase missiles, No ones capital ships are safe. They are by far the most dangerous faction to expensive ships and structures. The devastator isn't the best siege cap per se, but is certainly nothing to scoff at. IMO it is better than the marza at lower levels, but is overtaken by the Marzas power past lvl 4. I know many people who like to do Devastator rushes, where they get two devastators as fast as possible, sneak them behind enemy lines and de
I disagree. Anyways, if its telling you you need to upgrade to Microsoft framework 2.0, then you have a very old version. You can download Microsoft framework 2.0 HERE . Once you get that updated you can download Impulse HERE . Then register your CD Key and impulse will tell you there is an update available for your game. Impulse will also let you know every time there's an ava
Learn to spell before insulting people who are trying to help you.
For practice: Play SP with setting on all fast, then hit the + button next to the "name ship/planet" button, it will set the game speed to 2x. Its a little faster than most MP games run, so it will give you good practice at reacting and moving quickly. It may also be useful to increase the zoom speed of your mouse wheel, or get used to using the caps lock key to zoom in and out.
To my recollection, docking booms doesnt stack. But thats what you get hoshikos for. Docking booms heals for 15 hp/s for 60 seconds, which isnt a whole lot, BUT if you add hoshikos on top of that you can heal more. Docking booms also restore AM on nearby units, so that added in with the stars AM regen bonus, mean your hoshis wont be running out of AM anytime soon. So set them to "attack local area only" and they'll weave in and out of your starbases, patching them up in between and during wav
Don't worry about taking a long time, my first games did too. They didn't get any shorter until I became much more familiar with all the games features. I'd recommend reading this https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/374670 It will help you get better acquainted with all the nuances of the game, and you'll be stomping comps in no time.
I haven't had any problems with the desolator in either entrenchment or diplomacy, and I use it quite a bit.
The civilian ship safety act I feel is more useful for the following situation: You build trade ports. You have a trade agreement with another empire. Your ships must travel through militia occupied planets to reach the other empire. To help protect the ships as they pass through those territories, you research civilian ship safety act. This isn't an uncommon scenario, but the usefulness of the tech varies based on the map, and its effect
Or if you're in the eco spot, your frontlines are at a standstill, and you run in and crush their eco spot and win the game for your team. I like those too.
