um... what are you talking about? what are terrans? do you mean TEC or Starbases located in Terran planet Grav Wells? and are you saying that if you purchase lets say a weapon upgrade, its not acutally a weapon upgrade but a trade center upgrade or something similar?
I doubt they'd do the dreadnaught thing - the expansions are intended to be standalone. Imagine the chaos of having a dreadnaught... and no modules to expand.
so what about starbases and anti-structure cruisers? they arent in Original Recepie Sins, but were introduced in an expansion...

okay, let me clarify, i not totally off MP, just MP games vs people i dont know. im actually playing a MP game now with a friend i met on these forums, not so bad... actually got our ass handed to us by a couple of hard AI's which was surprising becuase i can usually beat 4 hard AI's by my lonesome... so yeah, all i was saying is i know that MP can be rough, and im not interested in playing against so-called pros, for the exact reasons sokar specified, but with friends,
as for the culture increasing or decreasing population... it may not have to work that way, you could say that those under enemy culture spend money on foreign products and pay very little taxes in favour of giving money to the enemy player the end result is the same but that could be the explanation. personally setting the tax rate for individual planets is a bit too much micro for my taste, and to be honest, i think the way its done now is realistic. after all, center of pow
So i was just thinking about it, we have a microexpansion for defense right? some people may say combat also, but i dont know. then we have a microexpansion for diplomacy, fair enough, though i have a feeling that we'll also get some more combat upgrades in the next ex pack. so i was thinking... those are pretty much the two biggest parts of the game, either fighting or talking about fighting... so... what will the third ex pack be? some people have post
i would like AI's to form actual fleets. i know it sounds silly, but i have honestly not played a game against a set of AI with real fleets since WAY before entrenchment. the most recent one actually was entrenchment but it was simply 1 advent fleet guarding a planet and standing off from one of my frontline worlds. but i remember playing a map where i fortified a desert world, but didnt have the fleet supply to defend it, so i just fortified it (pre entrenchment mind you) and left, e
I agree with you. It's fun to team up with a friend at play against 6 or 8 AI's, but I'm just not into the multi-player style. I also have to say it's nice to hear from someone who actually tried multi-player and didn't like it instead of just bashing it with no expeirience.
hear hear! and well done to you sokar for actually trying it. i admit i had the same fears, and now ill definitly think twice bef

the reason the pirate ships are based on TEC tech is because we are actually fighting in Trader space. all the planets are occupied by humans, thats why all the local militias have TEC-esque ships. its a bit confusing, at first i thought you had to destroy the militia ships guarding the planet then you go down and colonse an empty planet yourself... apparently there are already populations down there... however new ships and even bases and base defenses etc for pirates would be good. may
The math is correct, fair, and working as the devs intended. However, it is somewhat non-intuitive at first. Yeah Garv, here is nice (extreme) illustrated example of just that.<br
dont think anyone actully had a solution to this, is there any way for those of us who bought retail to download the MP3's? edit: ab-, just downloaded winamp and i can listen to the .ogg files at my leisure! YOU ARE MY HERO! karma to you!

well, im from Australia, i think im about 13 or 15 hours ahead of US EST... that makes it VERY hard for me to play online (funny thing, i actually bought my retail version of Sins in a Los Angeles game shop when i was there last year) i have to say, its not so much the fear of pro players, as it is the cheap, exploiting tactics (exploiting insofar as exploiting the nature of games. i.e. this ship WILL have X amount of damage vs that ship, so im going to forget everything else, sp

braver or more stupid? i think credits should be refunded if you make a losing bid... it just gets too expensive sometimes interesting story. i was just playing a map against 4 hard AI, and one vasari AI expanded into a large neutral system, which happened to be where the pirate base was. once i started kicking ass, everyone was putting bounty on me, it got up to like 20,000 credits at one stage, because even though i lost the bid every time ( i didnt ev
It's not a bug. It's a technical limitation in the AI used for determining the longest chain.
fair enough, but is it (for lack of a better word) fair? desirable?
Allies don't count towards the longest route. I'm not familiar with the map you played, but the trade route is actually the "longest shortest". It's going to choose the shortest route between to planets. So if there were 2 ways to get from A to B, one is 5 jumps and one is 7, it's going to pick the 5. If you want the 7, you have to make sure the 5 path doesn't exist.
aside from that being kinda silly, its weird bec

So, i was playing a game as TEC, research trade links, and set up a trade route. i was playing the map Triumvirate wthout an ally. so i had one of the starting systems all to myself. so i expanded and set up trade ports on every planet and asteroid. after a while i used starbases to expand the route to the two plasma storms in the system. when i moused over the credit income display i saw optimum trade route ran from one plasma storm, out to one of the starting terran worlds, around to a gas
no, i think just like ship abilities you have to tab + click through them
you have to press alt then click on the type of SC you want, if you want to select all fighters and bombers at once, you have to alt click fighters (lets say) then shift + alt + click on bombers im not sure if there is a faster way
