i like phase lanes but would like it to be more 3d in its approach to map creation rather than the current 2d flat map. a limit to the number of planets per star would also be good
Frankly have no intention like most others of playing online cause i dont want fast speed charge a fleet at someone's homebase as quick as possible games, how many online games ever make it to full research?? how many people use the same tactics time and again. Not for me. It's really not as bad as what you think. Hundreds of other people have figured out how to play online, so why not you? Are they just smarter and bet
never played online have all versins including diplomacy- play longer games via a virtual lan (300+ planets before now) with my brother where we enjoy 2 hrs a night of playing (doesn't matter if i have to work or something cause we can pick it up whenever) for a couple of months, not had a desync except for problems with internet connection generally. (can be slow though late game 2/3 fps is normal for that stage) Frankly have no intention like most others of play
actually if you look at things like star trek voyager - trading essential parts of tech is not done, therefore the vasari woulkd be unlikely to trade their phase milles or gate tech.
Lets cut to the chase here, Agent thinks that the clan members acting badly and without reason, Greyfox has no problem with what they did because that is the choice he can make. No amount of postulating by either party will either change position or the fact that this stuff goes on. people have to make up their own mind and it would be best for all concerned to let this die its death as it just reinforces the positon to people that online is not the place to go. <p
it seems to me that if you want to stop crap like this happening then in your game title you make it clan only or explain when people join that they will be kicked if someone else comes online, dont leave people hanging for 20mins then kick them. personally it is no wonder people don't want to play online with this game. there seems to be too many people ether smurfing cause they can (that should have been stopped at the start by Ironclad tracking your name, how many games you played,
While i agree that some tech sharing is a nice idea it will cause the rush to get the best design fleet out there i remember all the calculations that went into Stars! sheep and fleet design . The only way you could implement tech sharing is to make the races have different benefits inherently (such as what worlds could be capitalised i.e. Advent couldn't colonise volcanic worlds but get a huge bonus for desert world types that allows their culture to spread at +50%)</p
i personally normally carry 4 raptures (in a mix of 16 capitals) alongside 3 of everything else. The ability is okay but can easily be scuppered by disciple vessels with steal antimatter which can leave you badly outnumbered as you get just 16 capitals to take on other fleets which can have a number of caps as well.
I know this is still happening post 1.0.4 entrenchment I thought it might be the host who only has 2gig getting near his memory limit but it happens if i load a game on my own once I get past about 1hr I am down to a 30 frames/sec form 60+ and then 2 hrs in on a 5 player (4 unfair ai + Me) map i can be down to 8 - 10 frames and then you hit random slowdowns when zooming. I have tried altering the graphics and this makes no difference neither does using it on a 64bit win
I like the ideas but I really would like to see a better AI for late game (could we have scaling where the AI gets buffs at every 1hr or so into the game whereby they get extra credits or crystal etc. as it seems that once they have attacked on unfair and I repulse them then the game just turns into me chasing them back through their planets and they just constantly retreat. Thanks for listening :)
a diplomat ina ship that travels to make deals and affect the other factions. remember star wars and that envoy ship that got pulled in in the first scene? "If this is a diplomatic mission then where is the ambassidor!"
great reply pity the misquote should have been "If this is a consular ship, WHERE is the ambassador?" it is the line before where the capt
@ #6 how is it an odd question? yes it might be a typing error but it is notlike the person came in and asked who was the dufus who can't label the game correctly (which would be slightly antagonistic to say the least) One of the problems all such game services as ICO face (and i occurs with them all) is the complete lack of understanding towards new players. I remember back when I started playing FPS's online (quake and such like I feel old...) if you didn't know the maps inside out
in research terms this sounds similar to a games called Stars! I used to play (yes I am old :) ) whereby there was 6 research options (energy, weapons, propulsion, construction, electronics and biotechnology) This meant that there were a number of strategies available to the different races. If you gave the three races differing levels of research ability then this might encourage a more diverse research policy in mid game whereby some people rush for weapons others rush for eng
as i asaid DOW did it well in that there was an option to specify initial build plans and then you could manipulate what the ai saw was as the strengths/weaknesses of each race's ships against the others so for exaple. if you built more capitals they would focus on anti capital ships as they knew what the best options was. not to worry was only an idea. as i find the AI can not handle even on the top difficulty the end game as i can outfleet them especially if i p
neterw Thats a greaat start but is there a way to prioritise specific ships say guardians over illuminators or Rapture over revelation? Thanks again
Hi is there any way to tell the AI which ships to build and in which order etc as well as which researches are important. It seems that while playing they make some strange choices. Such as not reinforcing starbases so that i can massacre there's easily (they also seem to not do well with defenses and other upgrades) When i played Dawn of War you were able to tell the computer via a script thing what it should be doing in terms of initial buildings etc. </
the multiple rapture technique is always fun, especially against tec as you can just collect the repair/carrier ships amd have huge battles (kills ya framerate though as you get stupidly large amounts of ships in game) Against the computer AI i ended up with 8000 point fleet (I only had 1400 of my own ships). but at 2 fps the game was taking forever (finished at a count of 19hrs) plenty of saves required.
in the lan screen you need to type the 5.xxx.xxx.xxx number that hamachi uses for the player who creates, just clicking on the person's name doesn't work, desyncs are likely an internet connection issue, i noticed that desync's can occur when my noise margin goes a bit awry
