I thought that when you click once on an improvement, the number that shows up in the circle is the current level of the building. If it isn't, where does it currently show the level of the building? Also, buildings don't start at level one? That seems counter-intuitive.

It's a lot more polished than Civ V was at release. It took two major expansions for Civ V to become a great game, GCIII already is a great game, it just needs a polish. Besides often a bad review is simply because a game doesn't feature some detail that a player wants, it's entirely subjective. It doesn't mean it's not a fantastic game.

Shouldn't the level on the adjacent improvement be '2'...? Or am I misunderstanding how this works?

Reviewers aren't going to give GC a bad review because of MP, which is the absolute least important thing in a 4X strategy game. They see the bigger picture.

The trick is balancing it. I also wouldn't want the AI immediately bee-lining for every planet on the map. But they should explore and expand.

Right now it goes back to full zoom-in if I leave the main screen (to go into a planet or the research screen for instance).

Mine are already .png with transparent backgrounds but are smaller than 1920x1080. I love gimp, but I have PS anyway. question, if I make the portrait 1920x1080, won't he or she completely cover the background. Or do you make most of the image transparent, with a smaller character in the middle? thanks.
