Wohoo, another math geek! People like us got to stick together, that's karma for you [e digicons]k1[/e] [e digicons]^_^[/e]

Yeah, it's right there. Nevermind, let's just hope it'll continue to work and it's just been some weird bug. Thanks for the help though. [e classic]:congrat:[/e]
Okay, probably this question has been answered before (couldn't find it via google and the search function here in the forum is...flawed [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] ) or it's just a problem specific for my system, anyway: is it possible to have the mod correctly activated while playing online with people who might or might not have it? I did have it activated for a couple of games and the effects worked alright but the textures of all ships were missing. I read something here and there about
Your manners are extraordinary. I'm sure people will listen to you now and consider your arguments.
Wow, including the wish that Stardock employees will get cancer will definitely raise your chance of getting help here, thumbs up! And who knows, posting this in the technical forum might've been some help as well. But well, that's just me, and as soon as you read this I'll be a victim of the cancer-curse as well I guess. By the way, Mr. "my comuter is freakin fine, it runs everything", did you try to actually allow Sins to access the internet before starting Sins? J

Yeah, the original .exe is still there. Launch it and play with your avaricious friend who doesn't have 10$ to spare for good old Ironclad [e digicons]^_^[/e]
On Topic: I think several factors come into play here, not only the time issue, but single-player is so much different than multiplayer that some (like myself included...though I play comp stomps) don't want to try because they believe they will get annihilated in the first hour of the game.
You should definitely try out MP! I started playing vs. computers as well, but sooner or later that gets pretty b
This sounds really great. I'd love to help, provided I can do so with my limited skills. I've got no experiences with either modding or setting up a website, though I do posess some programming knowledge regarding C++ and Java. And I am very interested in lore/roleplay, so I'd definitely help out with that! In case you'll need faction leaders I'd be willing to do that as well, though I'd be happy with a normal membership too.
The vanilla version might still have some flaws, the development is progressing via entrenchment-only at the moment. So it's not exactly necessary/helpful to report 1.15 flaws, since they're probably fixed in the entrenchment version already and if dolynick finds the time to update vanilla it will probably be by recoding the entrenchment version and not by changing the vanilla one [e digicons]^_^[/e]
How do you update a mod when you put it out? Do you just delete the old one and install the new one?
Yup.
Look, that all sounds like fun, but it still implies huge effort to make it useful at all. As for the mass disorientation: to make that work there'd a ) need to be the mentioned allied starbase in the same well right next to yours (highly unlikely) b ) have to be the fleet inside the SB range, which would not happen against the aforementioned skilled opponent) Now for the hull/AM loss. Yes, it's useful. But it'd either require you to upgrade your starbas
Yes, the TEC starbase can be extremely useful. But the point is that it's necessary for the enemy to actually engage it. Unless there's a bunch of carrier huddling close to it I can't see any sense in doing so. Just pass it by and attack your target of choice. That is why I never build starbases as TEC, or rather only as a last resort in the hope that my enemy engages it. Vasari SB can move, the advent got a fairly long-ranged meteor strike whereas the TEC...blow up their crappy construction.
You must not expand too fast. Unless your planet has the proper civil uprgrades you will lose credits instead of gaining tax. Furthermore the upgrades are rather expensive, so do not colonize/upgrade a planet which you cannot defend with proper force. Either leave strong stationary defenses at your flanks (including minefields, a starbase and several hangar bays) and expand with your fleet in one direction or split your fleet, in case you got military superiority (which you'd better
If your enemy tends to micro a lot and focus single ships lots of Hoshikos obviously won't do you any good, except for the Demo Bots. However, since most opponents are lazy and they are a good addition anyway as soon as you got the bots, I always keep a dozen of them in mid-sized fleets. Keeps them healthy [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e]
Without entrenchment I doubt there's any better defense than the one you're already using. In case you're Vasari you might want to add Phase Stabilizers and Returning Armada, but even with entrenchment it's tough to completely seal your empire.
Well, if your hard drive is the problem then a retail defintely won't help you..and after you downloaded it nothing stops you from making a backup of your old HD or at least the Sins folder
Well, I feel for both sides. The problem is that most people who pirate a game do so because they've been disappointed a lot by companys with a lack of support and quality (see gothic 3 e.g.). I fully understand how people then say "Well, I won't pay 50 bucks to get a game that turns out to be complete bullsh**". Personally I think it is morally acceptable if someone pirates a game to try it out and decide whether or not to buy it. You're allowed to try out a car as well, lie down on
I have noticed a strategy where the Vasari players just build a SB everywhere and slowly colonize the whole map with them. This strategy has not beaten me yet, because starbases are so expensive, but I can see how attractive it would be, because it is so simple to implement. When you are fighting in multiple systems against an enemy trying to build starbases all over your empire while you are trying to whittle down a big starbase at
Same as with the anti-structure ship it's not supposed to do the job alone. You back it up with your fleet until the sb is "mature" enough to engage the other sb which definitely balances the odds against a fortified position. Plus you get a tech so it builds faster in enemy wells, so do not think it's useless just because it's not overpowered.
Well, I'm still learning about the gameplay, but you should definitely micro the subverters. With 3-4 of them you can permanently disable a huge amount of frigates/cruisers. Generally you should disable autocast on 99% of your units and just put certain unittypes in a group, like subverters in group 4, so you only only need to press 4 + w and target the enemy fleet and after 20 sec press tab + w and target it again with the next subverter and so on. In the meantime your fleet can wreak havoc
Please, each and every free forum software has at least an acceptable search function. It's not like there's top notch programming skill necessary to make it work fast enough (especially not considering todays hardware). Anyway, since we all agree on the broken search function let us tar and feather the DEVs [e digicons]>_>[/e] Edit: You're definitely wrong about the complexity btw, I think you're mistaking it for a sorting algorithm. In a search function the worst cas
The search function is somewhat useless, searching for "build order" e.g. gives you 0 results as well, whereas google reveals multiple threads with that very sentence in the topic...no clue how, but they definitely did screw up there.
Please, Carriers in Starcraft were easy to counter, 2-3 psi storms and they were in pieces. Sorry for the off-topic, but since I'm fairly new to the game and for the moment only read, since I can't contribute anything useful, I'm happy there was finally something I might reply to [e digicons][/e]
