10 Arcova vs 5 Javelis This is one that I've been wanting to try. It's unconventional yes but can you guess what damage type scouts have? That's right..... Anti-Light. The Arcovas in their numbers can actually burn down a Javelis surprisingly fast and win the fight with 4 left alive. Of course they are still not as effective of a counter as Flak, but hilariously they do counter the Javelis quite well on a per-supp

Flak frigates deal Anti-VeryLight damage, which makes them a hard counter to Fighters. They also work as a soft counter to LRFs and Bombers, so mass flak is decent when an opponent is massing LRFs, SC, and Corvettes. You can try to use them against heavier targets, but it's micro-intensive and slow to defeat heavier ships.

Alright, thanks for the replies. Back when I was playing regularly (Late Entrenchment- Early Rebellion), there never seemed like there was a focus on the new caps. What changes have their been in capital ship choices? It used to be really Carrier heavy; so I'd typically run AkkanxSovaxSova for AkkanxSovaxMarza as TEC.

I haven't played multiplayer SOASE for a long time; really stopped around the time Rebellion was released. I've started playing again, and one glaring ship I've noticed was the Rankulas. Unlike the other two races' new capital ships, it doesn't really fit a unique niche in a fleet. The Corsev looks to be a decent early game alternative, while the Discord provides much-needed (If Antimatter intensive) AOE and overall fleet support for the Advent. The Rankulas... really does
Matyrdom does 250 damage per ship. Multiply that by 20 ships and you get 5000 damage, which is enough to take out a mid level starbase. 0/10 Goa, make sure to get some trolling tips from Seleuceia next time.
Matyrdom is affected by shield mitigation, so that 250 damage gets severely reduced. A swarm of Matyred Seekers won't deal that amount of damage.

That TEC Starbase is probably fully upgraded. Fully upgraded Starbases are a pain; you should rarely engage one head on. For Vasari, an upgraded Orkulus is a good way to fight Starbases, along with swarms of Bombers. Capital ships have pretty low DPS for their supply costs, so don't rely on them to do much fighting. Once you reach a critical mass of Bombers (80-100), you can park them on the base while your fleet stays out of attack range.

The easiest way to improve is by playing more online. It's rough, but losing is still fun! ^_^ You can't really choose to be in a particular position, so you have to know to play every role. Even if you get stomped, you can find ways to support your team. For team chat, type "/a" minus the quotation marks. For autocast, generally frigates can be left on autocast, while I prefer to manually cast capital ship abilities. Also, this guide by Raging Amish is old, but gives a good i

Your's is one of the few SHIPs I've seen without a Technic frame. I definitely can't wait to see the results of your frame; it's innovative! Keep up the excellent work.

This gets me extremely excited, both as a fan of SOASE and Lego. I'm refining a SHIP right now, but your's is already more impressive! What type of Technic frame are you planning on using?

Well, now I do feel silly. ^_^ I've had very few opportunities to play Rebellion, so I wasn't sure if that was the case with the Pirate sound files. I usually play TEC anyways; very little advent. I'm a moron. XD Anyways, the Advent SC On Creation files are still interesting! ^_^

4 Replies 17,252 Views

While looking in the Sounds folder of Rebellion, I came upon a few interesting sound files that I believe are not actually used in-game. The first two sound files relate to the Advent SC- both have a unique On Creation sound file, which is unused. Vasari and TEC SC lack these sound files. Both of the files are present in the original Sins game. The second group of files are extremely interesting. I'm actually not sure if they're used in-game, as I've had very little time t

Pacts used to be a lot more important in early Diplomacy, when they were faster to get. Now it's just too time-intensive to bother. Also, TEC econ players loved the Neruda and its old credits-generating ability before its nerf. :(

Thanks guys. I actually didn't think of this idea until this morning. I figured that one of the most neglected areas lore-wise was the Diplomacy expansion. All three sides had envoys for about ten years. Even the Vasari would learn after dealing with the same groups for such a long time. ^_^

The damage is damage per second. For Vasari, you normally want to upgrade phase missiles, as they give the best overall DPS boost due to negating shields. Your Kanrak Assailants, Strike Craft, most Capital Ships, and Corvettes benefit from them. Try to boost them first. As phase missiles upgrade, they negate shields and shield mitigation, which effectively causes a flat damage rate to the target's hull. This is effectively the biggest damage boost in the entire game! In tim

So, with the Loyalist/Rebel splits in Rebellion, each faction obviously had reasons to split. TEC split due to differences to restore their empire- the Loyalists wishing to retain their remaining territories, and the Rebels using their fleet to reclaim their lost systems. The Advent split do to some sort of philisophical difference; the Loyalists being hardliners and the Rebels believing the Unity to have a far difference purpose. But the Vasari's reason seems a lot stranger. Why would th

Maybe the Vasari were wiped out by a time warp that sent a future alliance of Vasari Rebels, Advent, and TEC to Kron. A Revelation Battlecruiser used Dominate on the remaining Vasari ship, which explains why they were so loony. It'd be hilariously ironic. EDIT: Or the empire never actually fell. A Space Troll appeared at Kron and just decided to scare the colony into fleeing the empire for the lulz. You mad, Vasari? [e digicons]:troll:[/e]

Also, the information on the tech tree for the Shriken and Stilat Corvettes are reversed. Shriken says that it increases damage output and Stilat says that it damages ship engines, when the actual abilities are reversed.
Edit: Orgovs are like the best anti structure unit in the game. They do the most damage and have the best range. 10 of them with a supporting fleet (Which makes up the rest of the cost compared to the Star base) will either push it out of the system which means you won or kill it, which also means you've won.
Ten is not enough to do anything, you need at least twenty of them to avoid the Orkulus just popping them all.

Because we needed this topic. I'm still getting used to Rebellion, so I'm definintely not as good as I used to be. Here's an upload of a recent 4v4. My team really got stomped early, and we all agreed it was stacked in favor of the winning team. Most of my team were new, with one guy having this as his first round. Regardless, it was a fun match, and really shows how effective Flak is against Corvettes. <a href="http://www.filefactory.com/file/415npsdtk7vp/n/TEC_4v

Ogrovs aren't a particularly good option against Orkys anymore. Ten won't do anything against an Orkulus before they all get annihilated. Against an unsupported Orkulus, you need at least twenty Ogrovs to handle it. The problem is that a fleet-supported Orkulus is unstoppable. Either you're completely wiped out, or the Orkulus is taken down with your fleet. Replacing an Orky is a lot cheaper than a fleet, too; the Vasari player will have lost a lot less fleet supply's w

When you highlight an unexplored planet, it's referred to as "an undiscovered world." It needs to be capitalized.

2 Replies 5,626 Views

Back in Diplomacy, a double-Marza rush was fairly common; once you got both to level 6, dual Missile Barrage will wipe out any frigate or cruiser. Though double-Vulkoras was more common to sweep planets, you'd occassionally get dual Marzas with Raze Planets. Double cap starts were really common before Rebellion. Corevettes just sweep this option off the table.

So, I watched the replay. Honestly, that 5v5 was really jacked up. The other team got completely screwed by Yellow. Also, your guy's green ally was completely awful; he only had his HW for the first half-hour of the game, and never upgraded his planets. I was cringing just watching him. He had one of the best trade routes I've seen of any random match- eight planets in a line, most of them deserts. And he completely ignored it! Otherwise, it was really fun watching Pbhe
