I have tested Rebellion retail and the shadow bug is still there, as prominent as ever. I believe the shadow bug has two major contributors to it. The first contributor is that the shadow maps are extremely small. The 'squares' we're seeing are no doubt individual pixels of the shadow map. I thought maybe you could force higher resolution shadow maps in the settings file (Why waste all my GPU power, anyways?), but such is not possible. The second contributor

Updates to that DyiithJhinn destroyer + an upper DyiithJhinn class. /edit I worked throughout the night to get the larger ship close to completion.

I ripped Earth 2160 a long time ago. The interface sounds seem pretty awful. But here you go. www.gameproc.com/meskstuff/deepthroatgazelle/interface.7z I don't have homeworld 2 interface sounds ripped. You can easily find a BIG extractor on the relicnews forums. In fact, the very first google result for "homewold 2 .big extractor" seems t

Yeah, they'd have a very large amount of crew, mostly for manual labor. It's one of the reasons why the Undead became so strong - the Anahn civil war gave Hell massive amounts of life energy with so many deaths. Speaking of the Undead, I believe their ships are coming up in my revision process.

This was actually inspired by a AFF concept art a very long time ago and subsequently got mangled for a million things before ending up this way. G-Bison > That ship would be around the size of the corvettes in the hangar for this ship. Most Warlord battleships this was intended to slaughter were around 300km, with the Patriarch extending close to 600. Its turrets move through massive gravitic rails and would be covered in tons of point defense weaponry.

Turrets are Fusion pulse cannons, and there's also exceptionally large powerguns on the sides, bottom, and front. Flak would be insufficient to harm Anahn fighters. The small turrets are to destroy battleships, while the large turrets are generally used for targeting slower things like battlestations.

The Patriarch was in dire need of both optimization and completion. Its revision is more significant than most of those so far. I'm still working on it, but here's a sneak peak.

Yes. That sounds exactly like how I'd figure it to work. I guess when the game comes out this will be something to experiment with. A colossal number, probably at least 50%, of the guns in Black Sun needed chargeups, particularly all beams.

Two ships have it that I noticed. The orange fire-like attacks of the wing-shaped Vasari titan and the Ragnarov titan's large forward gun. They both have short charge-up periods (the vasari ship takes a little bit to see, I had to pay very close attention, but the Ragnarov is super obvious). If this is indeed a new addition I may become excited.

I have a question to add to the hat. Some units like the Ragnarov seem to have a charge-up period/sound/graphic for basic attacks. AFAIK this was impossible in sins originally. Is this indeed a new addition or do my eyes deceive me?

The Raptor, as a corvette, outscales all Homeworld 2 battleships by a significant degree, but I can't bring the full weapon compliment into sins so I aim to make it as simple as I can get away with. /e Here is another ship in very early stages, the Vanarch. It was one of the new classes of flagships the Royal Family produced when spearheading the second galaxy.

Back in Homeworld 2 like 4-5 years ago now, when Black Sun was first being built as a mod, I used a slightly kitbashed Hiigaran BC someone (I think Axel) had made publicly available. It was used for an Anahn corvette called the Raptor. I have ripped that model out of HW2, refurbished it, and given it new weapons. I've kept it rather simple since it would be a small ship, but it would make use of four weapon types - Rapid-Action Burst Railcannons, Battlecannons, Quad Powerg

The shadow bug is present on many of the vanilla meshes as well. I've taken a screenshot to show what exactly it looks like. If this is a convertxsi bug it is pretty serious. The bug is extremely distracting and greatly diminishes the new lighting engine. It's like the self-shadowing is using 64x64 shadow maps or something for the entire mesh. Whenever the shadows update, e.g. when the camera moves, all those gigantic blocks flic

A lot of things have a pretty significant impact on sins CPU, including particles using things like force effects and the aforementioned mines/fighters. In Black Sun I made a major effort to isolate and find cpu bottlenecks, and ultimately I ended up massively revising a ton of particles, accelerating all weapons, etc. I netted back quite a lot of performance in doing this, and RAM was certainly never an issue in Black Sun, as I had gutted the game's textures and at some points th
