I agree with the sentiment that spamming is not a strategy. You will even notice that in game reviews the strategy games that often get a low score are because all they involve is spamming units. I refuse to spam because its no fun to me, so if thats all online play has to offer then I will happily play against the AI instead. I mostly enjoy the economic and infastructure aspects to strategy games so i tend to focus on those and only focus on military near the end. Thats what I enjoy.

I imagine its due to the Advent. Based on the opening movie the Advent were banished because of their sinful ways and then they came back with a vengeance.
I will try that. Thank you for the tip.
Perhaps you are unfamiliar with what the word divert means. If the guardians are sharing damage so that the original target is not having to take the full amount of damage then the guardians are in effect diverting some of that damage to themselves.
I have this exact same problem. Although I think it tends to happen even faster for me. The only way to get them back is as you said, to restart, but also I find if I zoom in really close then after a few seconds the effects start to show up again to a certain extent. But only while I'm zoomed in really close, like almost all the way zoomed in. I assumed it was a lack of ram but seeing how you have a ton of ram and also have the problem I guess that must not be it. Although I'm
I don't think diverted damage can itself be diverted. So it would either be the diverted damage is equalized between however many guardians are there diverting, or it somehow chooses one guardian to divert to randomly, if all is equal, otherwise if one has suffered damage then maybe the guardian that has suffered the least would get priority on the next diverted damage.
I love semantics. So many misunderstandings occur from people not appreciating the significance of semantics.
Oh I see, well thanks for clarifying that for me. At least I was right about the ships not actually conducting trade. But I didn't know their being destroyed had a negative effect.
Actually Vas is the worst at defending. SB doesnt have area damage like the other two. Repair is at a lack luster 15. Phase hanger ability uses too much AM. You either keep SC dock at all times, due to the fact that if you dont you wont be able to use ability because the hanger will run out of AM fast trying to make SC, or dont make them at all if you want to use the ability to phase sc which u cant attacked if
I've mentioned this in another thread, but I always thought that Vasari were the best. Certainly they are the best defenders of the 3 with phase stabilizers and mobile starbases and whatever the ability is called that their hangers get that freezes all the strikecraft for a lengthy time. What do the other races have that comes close to comparing to phase stabilizers? And the bigger the solar system the more potentially effective they are. I think their biggest weakness is the lack of
Its my belief that the trade ships don't actually conduct trade but are merely a representation of trade. Because of this it dosen't make much difference where they go or whether they even make it to their destination. Either way you still make the same money. Think of how eratic and fluctuating the credits gained from trade would be if the trade ships really had to reach their destinations. But instead the trade network is very consistent with no fluctuations at all except when newly
It works yes, but there is no visual indication of it working other then your resources shooting up faster then normal. In my last game I had upto 6 planets but then 3 AI allied together and pushed me down to just 2 planets and this tech became very helpfull for me to maintain my research and develoment while I "entrenched" myself on my small holdings.
A little more info on the refineries. Keep in mind the refineries effect the planet you built it in and each planet directly connected to that one as well, so long as you own those planets. So even if it is only netting you a small amount in that one planet you built it in, you will notice that its also giving a small amount in the neighboring planets and that adds up. One of the vasari techs that is really usefull is the one that allows you to collect resources from capital ships and
It seems as though this argument between you two started from my comment about using a single cap ship to destroy the defending pirate fleet. To clarify, I wasn't suggesting that you would use a cap ship to only take out the fleet. After all the fleet is the hard part, so if you took the time to take the fleet out I would assume you would also finnish the job by taking the base.
Yeah I would assume as much but regardless of the ratio of multiplayer people to solo people on this forum that dosen't change my opinion about those who are asking questions. I reason that if someone is asking questions about the game, and arn't specificly mentioning multiplayer in their question, that they are more then likly looking for help against the AI since it seems less likly to me that someone who plays multiplayer would be asking questions about the game, inless of co
I'm surprised how many didn't care for my suggestion. Granted I never play multiplayer except for co-op games with my friend, so as for how effective it is against human players I have no idea. But I assume anyone asking for help or advise on this forum is playing against the AI inless otherwise stated. In which case my suggestion of capital ship-only fleets works like a charm for me. Its not intill I have about 8-10 caps that I start considering adding any other ships to the mix. I generally
Yeah if anything I would ditch the frigate factory before the capital factory because the only thing I use the frigate factory for is scouts and colony ships. Other then that my fleet through the first half of any game consists of just capital ships because you don't tend to lose them like you do light frigates so even if light frigates are cheap you are losing money if they get destroyed. Which they often do.
ironically no though you can modify the AI to not surrender as much, it is in the gameconstants file way down at the bottom, you will find the gameconstants file in the gameinfo folder of your sins game, if playing entrenchment then it is sins/entrenchmemt/gameinfo
I looked in the file you mentioned but was unable to locate any line that appears to effect the AI's surrender chances. The closest thing I
I like the idea of adding more depth to the diplomacy aspect of the game. However, the game is currently balanced, difficulty wise, with the current lack of diplomatic options. So I only worry that making it perhaps easier to make friends would make the game easier. I would hope that they add in challenges with the expansion to compensate for that. The tougher pirates sounds like it may be an atempt to maintain that difficulty balance, and thats good. I just hope its enough if thats all the n
I don't think he can really be classified as a troll since it seems as though he truly feels strongly about it and isn't simply arguing for the sake of arguing. I don't see any problem with that. As it happens I wonder myself about how usefull the diplomacy expansion will be since as it is there dosn't seem to be much use for it. However I trust that the devs would see that and try and make it so that diplomacy is a lot more neccesary or beneficial in the expansion.
Its not as though they make reinforcements to replace the defending pirate ships you have destroyed. So really a single low rank capital ship should have little trouble wiping out the entire pirate fleet by simply phasing in and destroying as many as you can and then retreating to heal up and repeat till they are all gone. No doubt you could take a ship or two out before they have even all ganged up on you since they are evenly spread through out the gravity well when you first enter.
I don't know if this would be helpfull to you but I thought I would illustrate whats possible by using my own example from my last 2 games I played, and won. In my last 2 games I was trying to get the TEC civilian research achievement which means zero military and zero defense research. So my fleets consisted only of capital ships with a handfull of light cobalt frigates used as defense since I had no access to hangers of any kind. Even with only capital ships and no research
