The Akkan always struck me as the weakest capital ship in the game. It puzzles me then to see that decently skilled players are consistently picking it as their opening capital ship. I understand that having a capital colonizer speeds up expansion, but it never seemed justified to me given how little firepower the ship possesses. Then again, I haven't really used the Akkan after patching, so I suppose it could have been buffed. What are people's thoughts? Why would it be smart

I've been trying to keep an open mind on reading this. My initial instinct is to say nerf the damn thing, it's ridiculous, but the points about needing it versus superior fleets from other races do make me pause for thought. Dolynick's points, on the other hand, seem to be the most well-reasoned so far. I've yet to see any convincing breakdowns of why the Marza should have such unconstrained potential when none of the others do. In game, I've seen TEC players do fantastic withou

Hey I just wanted to lend my support. I think this sounds pretty badass. Is the site going to progress map site (where updates on territory changes are posted) going to be made public for spectators? I'd love to get involved, but I seriously doubt my ability to consistently commit time towards it. Also, are the respective factions only going to play a single race?

Reply to Tech Question in Strategy
Yep...sometimes people who are in a serious pinch research the colonization techs, then scrap the civic labs to get a needed weapons lab built.
Didn't know that. Thanks everyone for the replies, it really helped.

Normaly, exploding ships do NOT damage others. The kortul's nanite ability, however, DOES make exploding ships damage each other. This is the ONLY TIME that they will.

If a player loses a lab, does he/she lose all technology associated with that tier? For example, if I have two temples of hostility and I research tier two shield upgrades, will I lose the upgrades when my opponent destroys one of my temples? Likewise, if my vasari opponent researches a tier three resource upgrade, will he lose it when I destroy two of his viturskas? By lose, of course, I mean lose access until he rebuilds the lab.

If you're playing on windows, push Alt + F4. Just kidding [e digicons][/e] Everyone has pretty much covered the chat, but I would also suggest having fun renaming ships and planets when you can afford the chance. This gives you a good way to have some fun even if you are losing. Case in point: Last night, before we started the match (2v2), we had a discussion about smilies since I didn't know how to make the crying smiley without clicking on some icon. Later in

Rezonator I can definiitely relate to what to everything you mentioned in your post. You sound eerily similar to one of my friends. To my knowledge, however, he has not played Command and Conquer so that rules out that possibility. I just started playing multiplayer myself and I was seriously put off by the illuminator spamfest I saw. The nice thing about sins though, as I discovered, is that despite how annoying it can be to "have to" create a certain unit to counter another, the way

Things I liked from previous posts: Fix pathfinding Auto feed ability to send continuous resources to teammates Team placement for maps Make managing versions of game easier Players can give other players/AI missions Ability to make treaty simple demands (eg don't put your warships here or we have issues)
If you're having trouble with a Vasari player... well... actually, what does his fleet look like/is composed of? (^) Koda0
His fleet contained a mix of all his available ships. 5 or 6 overseers, 4 subverters, at least 10 assailants, 6 skirmishers, 10-12 sentinels, and 5 transporters with nothing but fighters. Now, a huge part of the problem, I realize, is that I let him outnumber me. I had about 6 aerias, 12 illums, 10-12

What's the best strategy to take on late game vasari with fully upgraded phase missiles? I've been playing 1vs1 with my friend on a large map. In the handful of games we've played, I've consistently won the initial encounters, but then he regroups, techs up, and slaughters my forces. Should I simply mass more of the core fleet (illums, carriers, flak, guardians) or should I start to focus on daestras more? (I'm using vanilla right now, looking to upgrade to entrenchment after
