I'm also at a loss. Ranking seems to be based on this mysterious "experience" stat and thats about all I know. The stats as a whole are kind of broken at the moment, which doesn't help, making it very difficult to say for sure what does, or does not contribute to experience. Surely it has to be related to some kind of win/loss ratio/streak and what level of opponents your being matched up against.

Warcraft III and Starcraft are plain simple, old fashion tried and tested Server/Client TCP. The game creator acts as the host, all other players(clients) in that game send/recieve information to/from other clients through the host. Clients only connect to the host, not each other. The host must have good upload bandwidth and must have his ports forwarded, the game makes no attempt to work around network issues and routers (blocked ports/NAT). Clients do not need to forward po

Meh, this is a problem that has been plagueing online RTSs for years. "Waiting for players:" was what you could expect to see for about 50% of your game time in Starcraft and Warcraft 3 in public games. People trying to play with wireless connections, their torrents running, a virus/worm on their PC, bringing the entire game to a crawl with constant re-synchs. "I have 2 pr0n torrents seeding and 3 pr0n torrents downloading on my other network cable, it can't be lagging me" is

Strange question maybe, but can you use torrents aqualeris? I ask because from the description of the problem your giving, it sounds like your ISP is blocking Peer to Peer traffic. just_dont_do_it is also correct. Almost everyone playing on Gameranger is using a pirated copy of the game. Their copies are not updated, yours is, thus you get the version mismatch error when trying to join their games.

just_dont_do_it: Its obviously not your connection speed, which SHOULD be fine in 5v5s, but definatly should give you no problems in 2v2-4v4. The only thing I've ever experienced similar to that, was when my router had "Port Scan and DOS Protection" enabled. It was blocking many game packets, incorrectly identifying them as DOS attack attempts. This was in a wide range of games.

SPI firewalls are inherently bad for gaming. The inspection process is slow, which introduces extra latency and even if you can connect with it enabled, it will likely cause lag spikes in bigger games, 4v4 + 5v5. Not only that, may router has an option in its WAN configuration, "Disable Port Scan and DOS Protection". If I DO NOT disable "Port Scan and DOS Protection" and I play almost any game (TF2, Left4Dead, Warcraft III, Starcraft, Demigod) the router flags thousands of packets in

UDP is unreliable, however, the use of Raknet as their UDP library is suppose to ensure reliability (a lost packet is re-submitted), this is one of Raknet's primary features. Router: DG384v4 I haven't tested today yet, I'm at work still, however since my last post, I've not been getting this error anymore. I did have this error since release when running my router in "Router" mode (NAT enabled) and using it as a gateway, BUT NOT when dialing out the PPPoE connection from my PC

maxxy_li, it gets pretty complex, especially in 5v5 scenarios, but fortunatly this can be simplified by one simple law of the internet: As soon as there is an extra hop (an additional step in the route between you and the destination), there is additional lag/latency/ping. So basically, yes, this solution can result in players with not so bad latencies gaining an extra 50ms, but thats a whole world better than not being able to get into the game at all. Depending on the amount

Its an important piece of information for every internet user. Higher ping/latency = longer amount of time for information to arrive at a location, which has adverse affects on realtime applications, most notably games, where packets need to arrive at their destination in as few ms as possible. Generally, any more than 80ms and games come tumbling down, some are more tolerant than others but that largely depends on the type of game. Distance is the biggest factor contr

It started working again for me. Because I've been toying and playing with so many settings (I'm now back to what I originally was), its tough for me to say if its actually a problem with my routers configuration or at my ISP. I doubt its at my ISP, if I dial out from my PC instead of from my router, everything works 100%,. Since everyone is now up and running properly, I'm going to guess that its a problem with my router, possibly with my router syncing correctly with my ISP.

If you honestly believe IE8 is a faster browser, you have somehow fooled yourself. http://www.chromeexperiments.com/ - Basically just a site where web devs put up some "after the death of IE" intense javascript experiements. Try out any of the stuff on there with any version of IE you like and watch it explode, then try with Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Safari.

Double and triple checked again after your response Pomma, still no dice for me, other than that very brief window on Saturday/Sunday where it seemed to be working. I tried mucking around with various options and forwarding various ranges of ports again, and ofcourse, as you suggested unchecking "Specify NAT range" in ImpulseReactorOptions. The strangest thing is, on Saturday when it started to work, I did nothing. I just went in the game to test and see if they were tinkering

Guys, before you get all hyped up. The game was working as well for me TEMPORARILY. Literaly for 12 hours or so, it was working for me aswell flawlessy. I went out for a bit and I'm getting the same issue again. I assume they did something their end, and have now undone it. The beta build patch did not fix the problem, I know because I sat with it for a few hours trying to get it to work. Then suddenly, it just started to work. Now just as suddenly as it started to wor

@Spooky: Can you test something? Go to www.whatsmyip.org . Check if the IP address it reports is the same as the internet IP address reported in your router, normally under router status. I've got a sneaking suspicion this may have something to do with being behind transparent proxies. I tested this by connecting to my work VPN in Europe, which I know is not behind a transparent proxy, and I was able to connect to games and other players. However, this is not a permanent solution for

This patch unfortunatly still did not fix the "Cannot connect to NAT facilitator. Please try again." issue. Emailed all the details to support ofcourse.

Do your bit to advance the web, don't USE IE. IE has been single handedly holding back web advancement for years now because it comes bundled with windows, IE 8 is only a slight improvement. Its standards rendering is still pitiful, as proven by the acid tests. Its a resource HOG, and for all the resources its chewing up, it still is a pitifully slow browser (Firefox and Chrome eat their own share of resources, at least they actually do something with those resources and are blazing f

1. Allow clicking on the minimap to quickly take the screen to that location. 2. Display demigod colors/something to show which demigod it is, on the mini-map. At the very least for teammates, this is crucial for keeping your awareness up. 3. Allowed to to see the mana, inventory and stats of teammates. Yes you can type or use vent to communicate items/stats/strategies/combos, its just far easier and faster when you can click once or twice to get that info. Possibly have icons repre

1. I think this will just divert the action away from the flags until a team feels confident they can hold the flags and sustain the disadvantage. I don't think it will actually end up being all that great for gameplay in the long run, maybe initially. Right now the flags in domination are obviously a hotspot and encourage players to be aggressive, not just sit back, play it safe and farm, you have to go get those flags. 2. This sounds interesting. Often times once the enemy i
