Sad to see that there are members out in the community that will operate this way; especially in preying after a smaller but successful game company. I will think twice before supporting Rebellion Developments (even when they are throwing SE games on Steam for Free) I'm in Vancouver, where I believe you guys are based, and have been playing Sins it first came out in 2008 as well as Rebellion. I am going to pretend my proximity makes my vibes of support stronger. Hitting that abili

This beta has lasted quite a while. Any word on when the next full patch is being released. Had Sins on a shelf for a bit. Came back to it doing a comp stomp with 3 humans vs 1 unfair and 2 teams of 2 Hards. Was one of the most interesting games I've played. Unfair put up quite a challenge but caved under 3 human players. But by the time we got to the other star system with the 4 hards, they had built up so many defenses that we were at a stalemate for a while. Also didn&#39

I was so glad to see the introduction of random events in SP. I had seen the topic come up on the forum since Sins first came out circa 08. Adds a certain new level of immersion into the universe/gameplay Anyhow, new random events. Honestly, I haven't experienced all that are currently programmed, so I might be treading on existing ground, but it would be cool to see: 1) Nano self-awareness. Your nano tech gains a collective consciousness and goes out of con

Hey Team, My understanding, at the time of Forbidden World's release, was that content within FW would provide clues about the the Vasari's nemesis. I've played the DLC for a while now and didn't find anything explicit. Same with SP. Am I missing something, or are we still waiting for that. I'm interested to see what will come of that especially as it is references in the opening cinematic for Rebellion.

I really don't see a difference... the skybox is clearly more detailed, and the ships have a bit more polygons, but then again, sins has way more ships on the screen. I also never got to play haegemonia... I bought it, and then it didnt work... so I returned it, and I think that's actually how I came ac
Quoting SargentAla, reply 100You mean like a solar flair destroying half of your fleet passing by the star? Or a black whole actually sucking things up and crush them because of its gravity and mass? There is actually alot you could do with events like that... meteors randomly kill off some of your population, rogue asteroids get captured and now there's more resource asteroids, c

With respect to the comments regarding balance issues and the delay of the Vasari addition to the Beta: Keep in mind that current balance changes being made in the context of the Development side using all three races not on the beta side with just two. Any suggestion that a rebalance is erroneous has to be placed in context of a race that we haven't yet played with which but the devs have. So, for example, a buff to Big Red might make much more sense once we understand what the Vasari ar
Actually, I seem to have gotten it to work. I can't just load the game. It will crash immediately. But if I clear the active mod text file then start up the game with the Mod inactive and reactivate it in game, it's fine. Not sure why that makes the difference.

Sweeeeet! Great to see cinematics added to the Sins Repertoire. Definitely adds a new flavor to sins in general. Epic! Really looking forward to Rebellion!

Sweet. The AI progressions from Vanilla to Trinity were already a quantum leap. I remember playing diplomacy after a few updates and having the AI run a two pronged attack against me, test weaker defenses etc. They still sometimes will fly straight into an Argonev however. I am looking forward to an ever smarter aggressor in Rebellion.
The embassies are now what directly improves your relationship with other factions. Its the envoy cruiser's job to build the embassies at neutral or friendly planets. As an envoy can build multiple embassies, basically you can now potentially go through an entire game with just one envoy cruiser and still max out your relationship with all of your allies. It also frees up room on the envoy for many more interesting ways to exploit you

Really? No phase drive effect? That's one of the best parts of the game! ;) Anyhow, Aplos. I like what you've done with the game and the website for the mod is really well done. Are all the graphical updates self made or are some of them combinations from past mods like volumetric explosions and celestial bodies? I am going to give the maps another go. Again, not what I am used to. I like the fact that if you have players who decide to jus

I have really only been playing Distant Stars as mod for Sins and I thought it was time to try something else. Few thoughts. The new research items aren't overwhelming but seem really creative. Definitely stoked for Titans. We'll see how that turns out. Not sure how I feel about mobile starbases. I thought that only having one move was interesting. One thing I didn't like about DS is that it was advertised as "doubling the research" but really all that

So, in the past, when conversations came up surrounding optimization of Sins and late game lag, there were always observations regarding RAM usage limitations and multi-threading. The general sentiment, as I understood it, was that while Sins could be further optimized (TSOP) and further updates (most recent versions of Trinity/Diplomacy) the changes to the engine that would allow RAM usage beyond 2GB or multithread were not possible. The most recent interview posted on the Sins mainpage rega

My main concern is the limitations of the engine. I'm not a game programmer, so I am assuming that everybody knows what they are doing. But the current engine already seemed pretty maxed out given late game lag even with the most recent performance improvements. Even very powerful systems seemed to have little advantage in making the game run more smoothly. Given that there is no 64 bit or multithread, I am wondering how the new additions are going to sit on game.

Just taking a look at the wiki page and the front of the forum. The mods listed that combine together to form DS are listed by sound mods, graphics mods, and object mods. Which mods go into changes to the research tree? (obviously some of the objects since new colonization options are made, but specifically to changes in levels of mining, shields, hull etc) Cheers

Hey Stardock team. Just wanted you to all know that I just bought a new gaming notebook in anticipation of Rebellion. This is the second time I've upgraded my laptop, pretty much just for sins. To the rest of you on the forums. I have a project I'm putting together in light of the final space shuttle launch this July 8th called Chasing Atlantis you may be interested in. It's a short documentary road-trip-style film I'm doing with an indie film

Hey Team, So yesterday a buddy of mine and I were jammin on a game and part way through, we realized that we weren't both playing in the same instance of the game anymore. It said we were still connected and if I pinged a planet, it would show up on my friend's screen, but the events happening in one game were not what was happening in the other. It was like we were both in a mirror universe of eachother. If we saved the game an reloaded, it would reload the same way w
