Thank you thank you thank you thank you guys!! My model is showing up in-game now :). The only problem I have now is that my capital ship is tiny (radius 50) but im sure I can figure that out on my own. Here's a list of all that I did wrong for someone else's benefit: 1) I did not copy my textures into the mod's texture folder 2) I saved my normal file with the "normal" option in the Nvidia plug in instead of DXT5 ARGB 8 bpp interpolated alpha 3) I did n

Ok, so I ran the game in Dev mode (don't ask why I just now thought to try) and I get this: Can't extract image info from file.......nm.dds Which tells me that the problem is the normal file, which begs the question of what the proper protocol is for saving things with the Nvidia plug in. I mean it gives you so many options...

Hmmmm..well I made sure to freeze the model this time and it still renders my model as all black in-game :(. I don't know what it could be unless there's some kind of error in my texture files maybe. It finds all of my null points fine and I have the textures saved in the 'texture' file. I don't think it's a model specific error..I've made two different models using the same textures and get the same result. I checked my mesh file against a mesh file in the mod im

Hmmmmmmmm thanks a bunch guys. Superzero, I checked the file but it did get the textures written in. I DID forget to put the textures into the texture folder but it still shows as black in-game. Model contained no exotic polygons. Myfist, I probably did forget to freeze it and am making a new test model to see if that makes a difference. Thanks guys

So after about a week I finally got a model imported into Sins (Yay!!) so I went to look at it in-game and its all black with no texture at all. I have my .dds files so I don't know what it could be. Any ideas? Oh, and I keep getting "Vertcies check sum" error when converting too. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks again Suer Zero. Turns out it was my fault. Hehehe. I was working in SoftImage 2011 and not the MOD TOOL. Apparently I didn't get the signigfagance of the term "MOD TOOL" in the name. Man oh man that was 2 days wasted. Now I'm going to do some mesh file swapping and see if she comes up in-game. So for anyone else who has 2011 heed my warning: only the modtool's file system is compatible with convert.exe

I tried deleting the extra Material that I had ("not used") but when I do that I get this error message in addition to the first one: "Valid material not found for polygon list: Defaultlib.material" :( It's like the phong that I have in there isn't legitimate or something.

Hey guys, I' ve been trying to import a simple model into Sins for a few days and can't get past this road block. I have honestly done everything I could think of. Upon exporting into .mesh format I get this error message from Convertxsi: Phong Shader Not Found In Material: Default.lib.scene_Materia This is really weird to me. Everything seems to be connected properly to my untrained eye. I'm uploading a screen shot of

Hey guys, does anyone else get the "Failed to save before failure" error when they try to export in .xsi format in the mod tool? Is there a work around?

I create a folder in my c drive called "Convert" the

Oh, but make sure you rename your weight maps so you know which is which later . [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] This Federation model is almost done now.

You can also use them to paint a texture onto an object in a seperate layer. ->Add Layer -> Properties-> Weight Mesh ->Click on the the second box of your layer and then click on 'map look up' . Select the map that you want to paint on. It's great :). I still don't get UV though :P. I don't get the Phot

Hey Super. Yes, it covers the entire object that I have selected. Okay, so I think my current problem lies in the fact that I havn't been painting with weight maps...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'll put it in example format. (Thanks for your help BTW) On my Fed star ship model I have applied the hull's basic skin in layer 1. I have 2 other layers. The first is the Hull's armor plating and the other makes the hull appear as if it is red hot. Now,as I'm sure you have surmised the second two are layers that I want to apply selectively, ie, only in certain parts of the hull. This is what I do not know how to do. I can mix the lay

Thanks I'm checking them out. I'm still really lost on UV but I'll get it. Is there any way to apply a texture to a group within a polygon but not to the whole polygon itself? When I try I get a message that says something like "Present can not be applied".

Wow..this tutorial is pretty useful too: http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/xsi/noesis_xsi/painting.html It was in my bookmarks. Someone from here posted it origionally but I don't know who, sorry. When I find out I'll give credit here. This is really cool...my pen tablet tells it how much pressure to apply.
