Cool Jim, now I know who to credit for the term :). Odd, Star bases are kind of useless to death fleet, actually, since they cost a lot of money to acquire and upgrade, and they then require back up to survive. The AI will eventually consolidate into teams, and when that happens, they will gank any star bases you have. Generally the less places you have to defend in death fleet mode, the better. Plus, the 1.04 update really dropped the amount of resources and credits you get f

OMG this is so hilarious...dear god...
Vasari Loyalist death fleet is definitely the most fun I've ever had against the Sins AI. For those that don't know, "death fleet" is when you rush "Strip to the core", build your titan and then cannibalize your capital, as well as any of the dwarfs and asteroids you colonized up to that point. After that, you are a Battlestar Galactica type migrant fleet. The goal of the game at that point becomes taking planets as you need them, so that you can replenish your fleet. You then
I like Death Fleet too, though I'm going to have to put all AIs on "Vicious" next time, as VL seems very OP against the AI. I play them on big, multi-system maps, and I can simply move my migrant fleet into the star's gravity well, sending raiding parties to any star system I please. Meanwhile, the AIs tend to battle amongst themselves and usually forget about me...all the while I'm getting stronger and stronger.
Posted to wrong thread.
You had something running in the background. Always check your processes via Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Depending on which version of Windows you're running, you can shut most of those processes down. If you aren't sure of one, just Google it. One culprit is often an antivirus updating in the BG. For instance, Avast will cause intense system/Internet lag when its updating. I don't think its Sins related, since I can play Rebellion on my Acer Aspire One Netbook without
Thanks for your impressions, all. Just a few thoughts. Twilight, I should have made it more clear that Conscription would be a passive ability..the opponent wouldn't know when it's on until its too late. This would make attacking the Advent a risky proposition. I don't know how sending in a fleet of unprotected capitals (Presumably they'd be attacking well defended front-line worlds..this would serve as just as much an experience grinder for the Advent,
Awesome tips, guys :) I'm playing as VL right now against 5 hard AI...it was VERY difficult until I realized that the Strip To Core ability did not work through the Egg's Drain Planet -.- I was going up to enemy planets and wondering why it was taking forever to strip a world. Sad, but true. A quick search through the forum set me straight, and now I'm totally mobile except for 1 planet. Me thinks im going to win.
Yep, did this earlier :). The lower cost makes it much better.
That's why it would have a very short duration and a long cool down. It would be balanced with the other abilities. Of course, the devs could nerf it to x frigates spawned as necessary. Its also inherently random, which helps. If no one attacks while the ability is active, the ability does no damage. I did say it would most likely have to be for Sins 2. Nothing is "game breaking overpowered" as long as you counter it with something else for another faction.
By sins 2, or w/e the next Sins expansion will be (ie, Sins 1.75 :P), It won't seem realistic if the TEC and Advent haven't made strides in Phase Space technology. I mean, come on...if we look at the lore (I know, im being a total geek here), the TEC have been aware of Vasari phase lane tech for a long time. This has had to make them curious, to say nothing of the huge advantage the Vasari have by being so mobile. I'm outlining here what I think should be th
Wow, I didn't know it applied to every starbase..that's so OP. It should DEF be an upgrade per station.
I have my system set up so that nothing updates automatically. Of course, in this instance, it was not a good thing.
I agree with the OP. STC should only give metal and crystal. I also think giving the advent the opposite ability would balance things out. Allow them to turn a dead asteroid into either Ice or volcanic planet, but not into Terran. And allow them to gain this ability even sooner than the VL get STC, but make it take a loooong time to complete. maybe buff TEC planetary bombers to compensate. Come to think of it, they could turn the Korsov into a hig
Aha, so I need to update. Thanks! 7500 seemed crazy high..to the point where there's no reason to ever use it. In my current version, the summon capital ship costs 3000, which makes more sense. I'll update, and then yeah, it should be very powerful in conjunction with the Titan. Thanks!!
Not ripped off by the game, I mean..the game is absolutely fabulous. I will join in with others and say that the VL seem a bit OP...but maybe I'm just not very good with TEC and Advent yet. Anyway, I finally saved up the 7500 credits, etc, to summon dark fleet..and..well, it kind of sucks. 7500 for 5 heavy cruisers and a spattering of light frigates? Seriously? What's the benefit of this? Is it just that they spawn instantly? I was expecti
I can do models and some light programming. What I can't do is create races and the heavy programming stuff. I have a lot of ideas though. I am interested in creating completely origional content from races all the way down to abilities and buffs. Here's some ideas: 1. A Dreadnought type ship for the 'homebody' type race that is incapable of hyper space flight but that is extremely powerful (average laser damage 1400), incredibly durabl
I love this mod..unfortunatly the space gates don't work for me at all. I build them and they do....nothing. I can't figure out how to get them to work. I'm playing the mod for Diplomacy. The Atlantis City Ship is truly awesome though.
You will need photoshop or Gimp to edit the .dds files. And the Nvidia plug in. Open the texture files in photoshop and follow Myfist's great tutorial on textures. It's in the main Modding sub forum. It took me a few days to figure out but really it's not that hard :).
Disregard. I see that the radius is directly the same as what we input when we create the polygon mesh. Tip for newbies like me: The more subdivisions you add to the polygon mesh the better the resolution will be.
Wow Fist, thanks a lot. That sounds really easy now :). Do you know how to increase mesh size? I have a model that always exports at radius 9 no matter how much I enlarge it in XSI and I can't figure it out. How do we make capital ship size ships?
In this thread I would like to put a call out to all successful modders to help me go through the process of creating a new race in Sins. Now that I know how to create the models this is the only thing that's keeping me from creating my own mod. So, for anyone willing to help what I want to learn to do is create a total conversion mod. I think this thread would be a big help to a lot of potential modders since I haven't' seen any tutorials for this aspe
[quote who="dolynick" reply="25" id="1779250"]Hi therealjcool, Glad you're enjoying the mod and thanks for the feedback. - the scout ship (reconaissance probe) doesn't have auto scouting ability Thanks for pointing that out. It's an omission and I will add it to the Reconnaissance Probe for the next release. - maybe wanna increase the size of the atlantian city ship? I mean, the model is looking great, but it's supposed to be a flying city. The tiny size
I did try to download this two times actually last week, I kept getting a 'file corrupt' error each time. Will try again, thanks. )
