Just got myself a super gaming rig with 8gb or RAM and a GTX580 from MSI! Too bad, I cant convert .entity files to .txt files using Harpo's converter or by manual conversion. Mods like distant stars also crash my game when loaded. Tried to run in compatibility mode too. Anyhelp?

I put my files in the Mods directory, when I press Convert, the whole thing appears to be loading but nothings happening.
This is not working for me. Im on Win 7 64bit. Its funny, I could do it on win Xp 64bit, but now I cant. Anyone can help?
Hi I just installed the game again and im at a lost about how to convert my .entity files into something I can edit. Or is there a .entity file editor already? Harpo's didnt work, its for .bin to .txt right? Didnt work for entity. Anyone wanna help?
I usually play about 4 players in a 50 planet map with about 4 systems? It gets quite laggy from mid game and nearly unbearable late game. Im on a 1650 x 1050 res comp. I think i should reduce the no. of planets or the system size or gravity size or something? Should i also reduce my fleet sizes to something smaller?
I fired it at a enemy's planet a couple of times, i built 2, fired both but nothing seems to be happening, whats supposed to be happening and what should i be noticing?
Note: Just mod them down... I modded my pirates into crappy shingles so they still send in sizeable fleet that gets destroyed like fleas by a starbase. But an unguarded planet is a huge mistake.
Its a fun game, but the AI isnt really too smart, i held off a TEC attack (by unfair AI) with 4 Radiance Capital ships that were supported by 3 repair platforms and 3 Antimatter regenerators. Also, im getting kinda bored of the game just after a week, how do i keep the fun up? Playing bigger maps aint the solution, game tends to lag up like mad. With a 3-4 player map, i get to send fleets.
Dude, if u want , msg me and ill tell you how to mod the heck out of them to make them gimpos.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE YOUNG PADAWAN! What i do is make my own maps and start off with a RIDICULOUS amount of money.
I also want to know like the range of mines , the damage and the range at which they start homing in on targets.
I wanna know what they are, how far from a target will they home in? Their damage on hitting a target etc etc. The dmg states 150 and 1500, im not sure what to believe (and it says that in game, it has 2 dmg notices)
I believe some people use black magic, but i find harpo's utility far more faster and safer without the risk of losing my soul.
From my own experience: Some files are already in text (e.g. Game constants) so no worries. In other news, try to covnert diplomacy / entrenchment / vanilla in seperate folders. It makes it far more smoother that way. As a precaution, i have 3 copies of the gameinfo. One binary is in the installation folder, for the game to run. Another is backup in case my mods screw with my game info. The last is a converted te
I was messing ard in Galaxy Forge and i found out i could put 2-3 wormhole lanes into 1 siingle worm hole. So does that mean that entering one worm hole and randomize the outcome of the where u come out?
Apaarently its 2 successive researches on top of the ones they currently have. So they get to arrive in your face with a cannon thats upgraded 20 times. I modded mine to never research anything ever but gave them 440 supply. 800 supply lags the game.
My ships are heading out WAY out of their planets gravity wells. It started when a pirate raid came, and the pirates flew off out of a star bases way. It then started going into a phase lane and after a few minutes, it seemed like the pirates were in a phase lane but they were actually travelling way out of a planets gravity wells into plain ole dark space. Anyone knows whats happening or whats this caused by? I think its due to the radius of a system
Funny thing is, only the cpu does that and i cannot move my units into dark space, but they can actually go by themselves into dark space.

Maybe both.
I play large maps with rather high detail. It gets quite laggy on a 25000 area map with about 80 planets and 7 players. and 3 pirate bases. and 4 systems. Anyone know what to do to get the most out of performance or know what eats up performance? E.g like do ships or planets eat more performance? does map size matter etc?
^ not true.
You know, i kinda thought like what u said Moose. And i grew kinda sad thinking that the big parts of my life might actually grow smaller in comparison to other things. But i know what you mean and i think you're right.
Ok i want to edit some stuff, but dont know where to look. Things i want to edit are: Phase jump speeds Phase blocker (time of phase start it increases it by)
O ... back to my original purpose for coming into this forum. Quick tips: Adjust galaxy size affects placement of planets, a small galaxy puts your planets on top and below one another, its pretty cool but looks funny. A wider galaxy automatically stretches things out, making phase jumps straighter and more horizontal.
