OBEY THE PANTS!
Sinperium
First capitol ship is free--make the cost of that one completely ridiculous. Then there will be only one.
Looking forward to seeing improvements.
Thanks--I was working a bit there and just got this. Glad to know it IS as easy as I thought. Yay!
I have had the same issue with a Vista pc and would like to know as well.
my suggestion was to give each pirate base one ship like the one suggested here. Then the lag could go down form those large fleets.
I just got back after a few days away and read the lip biting posts here and wanted to say this...I will enjoy wheeling the game out and playing with it for some time to come. Stress has made it run better for free and with a great attitude. It's appreciated and I'll use it. As a beta tester I have watched more groups of people pick a game to death thinking they were being shrewd and all that happened is the project gets dropped and they never get asked to beta again.
I hate to say it--and while I like mean pirates--the pirate system dominates the game. They are so powerful that a strategy must be to beat them as much as any player (either through credits spent in Diplomacy or defenses). It's a bummer when trying to establish a balanced map for multiplayer play. There really should be a "pirate difficulty" setting. I'd actually liike to see pirates with a single "monster ship" that when defeated removes them as a serious threat.
I noticed it in the last Sins version (vanilla) prior to the desync patch while testing maps. That was the unmodified files from an online Impulse installation. The game still started and ran. I'll see if I can duplicate it again and post results..
I had noticed when running on debug in vanilla sins that there was a string of "mesh not found" type errors. I wondered why they never caught them. Good job. looking forward to the update. Yay!
These values can also be modded in the planet entity files.
I'd be happy to take a stab at texturing. I work with photoshop and rebuild images and objects in hi def photos for print layout . I have the dds texture plug-in just need to know the specs and formats to save. I also notice there are multiple images per planet type. I've seen your old primer but I am a little vague on some points. If it's helpful, put a step by step for dummies here and I'll start some work using your optimized files. I've got the
Here is the link for a more graphical one with instructions: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/377772 if you are struggling with the interface of the other. Good luck.
I am editing the entity files for standard planets in the game. I won't be creating new meshes or textures as they will simply be variants of existing planets in the standard games. It seems pretty straight-forward what edting various fields in the planet entity files will do and I am sure the GalaxyScenarioDef file will have to be updated with the new types of entity files added. Is there anything else needing references to the new planets aside from these...or anything
No pressurebut do you have a rough idea when the last update here will be ready?
The sound files being pulled out and offered is wonderful as it allows you to mix and match to your taste and it's convenient for modders to have them as a reference all in one spot. I appreciate theb providing of the dd/l's--thanks. I heard a slight drop in each quality reduction as In was listening for it and I suspect as you are caught up in play, the sound level will not be even that noticable--with the exception maybe of some few pieces of music (I'll keep an ear on&nb
I just listened to the two downloads (higher and lower quality) and compared some random files. The middle ones are slightly less in listening quality and the lower end ones just a hair less than that. I suspect in the game it won't be that noticable. I'll give the lower end ones a whirl first and see how it effects the experience. Good work. FYI--my son took his iPod shuffle to school and in science class they did the audio tone test--no on in the class
A little political sarcasm and its a fact. And stating a fact isn't "bias".
I can hear a little s-ing in test 1
That's probably the Vasari ;)
I think it's "Distant Stars" with the colonisable stars and I saw the comment by the guy saying "you can't do that". I know it represents orbiting colonies but I have an additional idea to make it usable in another way. Take a star model and make a "ring world" around it. The size of a Ring World is millions of times the surface area of earth and the next step up is a Dyson sphere which is hundreds of thousands of times larger. Obviously having planets wi
If I had such skills I would help. Audacity also allows OGG importing and exporting fyi. Unfortuantely I am working night and day starting in a few days here (for about two months). Along this same line as the mod for those having performance hits.. I had swapped memory in my pc to get some others going and after doing so, hadn't tinkered with my page file in XP. Today I doubled the minimum aize in my pagefile (I have the memory for it) and Sins loads
Do note though: No one can by law compel you to answer census questions. You are completely free to refuse to answer any questions you find intrusive...while forcing you to purchase health care coverage on the other hand seems perfectly acceptable. Go figure.
Sound is usually pretty compressible without losing much for a pc speaker or standard set of headphones. If that saving is true it is certainly worth doing...or am I mistaken? Thanks for the info. Modding the sounds files is easily done (I have been dying to make Invader Zim sounds the Vasari anyway).
Ok--I have wanted to develop a specific game for years and lack programming skills...is this something a person without a programming background might conceivably use? I realize it's for distribution of games and it ties in with a simple xml type script. Am I missing anything in that?
Your logic is impeccable there FL. Sell a program that got entrnched by being packed with the OS, then charged for, then charged to upgrade then charged for portions of and now tries to take over your pc and becomes obsolete in a year or two whereyou can pony up more big bucks to upgrade. Truly, this is evil.
