I know for example how to list an item in my template-- item "Phase:CapitalShip:Colony" is the Phase colonizing cap ship--but as I am trying to guess by the entity files how the starbase constructors and envoys are entered I am having no luck. Anyone out there clue me in as to how they should be noted in a teamplate (for all races). Thanks in advance.

In case you missed it, pairing your mod with Major Stress's Sins Optimization Mod might really help out netbook users: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/378149 . He has invited anyone to take it and use it for anything they like--no strings attached. Really fine work. Very cool to see so many people popping up with contributions. You guys are the future.
I skipped to the end first to see how it died :) Nice tale captain...rest in peace.

I am so impressed by this effort. Fantastic work (just had to say it again). I am installing it now (my first mod) and will use it as a default. Feel free to request feedback as needed. Really looking forward to seeing how far this can go.
Chuck Norris is the Unity. Chuck Norris shaves with a novalith...one whisker at a time. Chuck Norris is what the thing chasing the Vasari is running from. There are no natural wormholes...just tears in space from where Chuck Norris' boots stepped as he walked by. In space, no one can hear you scream...except Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris doesn't bombard planets...he steps on them.
Ever see "The Mist"? That's what happens when you mess with phase space. They opened the door to Cthulhu's realm. It's all over for them now.
Thanks very much. What I meant about the empty slots was if I make a map in Galaxy forge with 150 stars and then over time edit and tweak it down to where there are only 50 of the original stars (and their planets) left it leaves breaks the numbering sequence. So Instead of 1,2,3,4,5... I instead have 1,2,7,24,45...". I just wondered if, like a hard drive, having the "sectors defragmented" in the galaxy map makes a differnce as well--particularly with large changes.
Lol-I am a Christian and mostly conservative and it looks whacky to me--on several levels. Trying to qualify and rationalize spiritual principles with political interpertations is about as stupid as it gets. It's actually somewhat offensive.
I just made a post regarding a map asking about these things. Awesome. I have yet to run a mod--this will be my first. Perfect idea. You are a genius...and excellent presentation here. Please keep us posted as to what you find and do.
I actually was looking at making a mod with a "PT Boat" and I think the simplest way is to add a new fighter class which I will call the "Interceptor". If I can edit the parameters (some I know I can others I am not sure yet) it will do large damage versus scouts, refinery and trade ships and pathetically light damage versus everything else. It can be used in a hangar at a system to interdict trade ships (and accumulate wealth as a result) and to blockade scouts on autopilot (
And I thought this was a joke. What they are shooting for is a "PC bible"...as per their views. Same thing the "Jesus Seminar" does. It's gets about the same result as some of the circular forum arguments you see--just makes the writers feel better and proves nothing. However, some of their aims (after looking at it) are not incorrect. There is a differnce in "translation" and "cultural interpertation". Some of the things they address are valid...but way
I had some trouble logging in and despite having Alloy enabled had to manually set my router port to allow Sins to go Ironclad. that solved all of my issues. There is post somwhere on that. Good luck.
I thought this forum was the Encyclopedia Dramatica lately. I stand corrected :) Good riddance to the trash I say. I grew up in Mississippi in the sixties. Stuff like that gets you nothing but hate.
I would rather play with a bunch of noobs that appreciate the game and have a good attitude than contend with quitters that put more effort into complaining than they do into conscientious behavior.
Bravo! Nice to see sane minds. Why linger in a game you think is dead and don't like and hang around the forums complaining about it? (all respect to the poster of the thread who is actually looking for players and not offering just another emo post).
I am wanting to clean my maps out to avoid overloading cpus and the like and have no idea what runs when. Anyone with any actual insight of the specifics it would be nice to see here. These are a few examples I can think of... Do animations run whether observed or not? (If a player isn't in the system, does the Plasma Storm animation still run as an example). Does AI movement in systems with no players present pull as much from cpu&nbs
And there is nothing to prevent multicore cpus from being embedded either--each with its own cache and memory. The other advantage is the new designs look for processors that can change jobs. They can be formed in groups, operate independently or synchronistically. Essentially, the computer reconfigures cpus as needed, task by task. If more graphics are neeeded, more cpus handle graphics. When the need is fulfilled and done, they go to another task. If a
you know the future is quantum computers right?
Yes quantum computers are coming...we just have to wait a bit. HAHAHAHAAH..a "bit". I crack me up. Boards really are being developed right now for actual release in the next year or so using multiple procesor arrays--like the Sony PSP. Right now they are mainly in some of the newer telephones and I think a netbook or two...but mainboards with mul
Welcome. I'm fairly new myself. The big games can be played online as they can be saved and picked back up later (if you can network and schedule it). Hard to find "pick up" players for a big map though. 150 worlds with ten players might be a little sluggish if laggers or older computers with slower processors are in your player mix. Sounds fun the game you played. I am working on a largish map now--just getting it balanced. Takes awhile to tweak.
Not in regards to the poster of this thread but holy cow Batman, what a bunch of immaturity. You guys who like to smurf--who cares? Smurf is just another way of saying "cheap shot" and "gutless wonder". If you are really so good and your clan is so hot why don't you do the following (instead of slinking around crushing players who don't even know how to play yet and then bragging about it like you accomplished something): ONE --Just tell people it's

A patrol boat could have the speed of a Scout, rang of an LRM and do enough damage to kill a scout with one of two hits--but have the damage modified up for scouts while modifed waaay down for all other ships classes (except for Refinery and Trade ships...which is what Patrol Boats are for in real life). I made a map where you start as a Vasari with only dead asteroids but have a fleet with cap ships and have to try to beat the enemy. I can post it in the maps for you if you want.&nbs
I prefer the adaptive neural net that was bioenginered and grafted during my construction...but hey, that's just me. Your system beats the crap outta mine--I should have your problem. We are very near embedded processors in boards (like some of the graphics already)--I would hold of on a major expensive cpu upgrade. In three years you may see boards with twenty processors built-in that share functions adaptively and will make a quad core cpu look like an old pci ram card f
u forgot the space ponies!
Oh man--that was a horrible oversight. I am so ashamed. I have now ammended my tale to include these venerable beings... It was a dark and stormy night... And it was the advent of a new age. The techs struggled to quantify the new philosophies while the old alien leader, Va , sat upon his space pony and looked on
I have a single core Athlon XP and am not having it as bad as you--maybe the difernt mod elements contribute to it. Try the exact same map one in the mod and one outside it and compare.
