And I thought this was a joke. What they are shooting for is a "PC bible"...as per their views. Same thing the "Jesus Seminar" does. It's gets about the same result as some of the circular forum arguments you see--just makes the writers feel better and proves nothing. However, some of their aims (after looking at it) are not incorrect. There is a differnce in "translation" and "cultural interpertation". Some of the things they address are valid...but way

I had some trouble logging in and despite having Alloy enabled had to manually set my router port to allow Sins to go Ironclad. that solved all of my issues. There is post somwhere on that. Good luck.

I thought this forum was the Encyclopedia Dramatica lately. I stand corrected :) Good riddance to the trash I say. I grew up in Mississippi in the sixties. Stuff like that gets you nothing but hate.
I would rather play with a bunch of noobs that appreciate the game and have a good attitude than contend with quitters that put more effort into complaining than they do into conscientious behavior.
Bravo! Nice to see sane minds. Why linger in a game you think is dead and don't like and hang around the forums complaining about it? (all respect to the poster of the thread who is actually looking for players and not offering just another emo post).

I am wanting to clean my maps out to avoid overloading cpus and the like and have no idea what runs when. Anyone with any actual insight of the specifics it would be nice to see here. These are a few examples I can think of... Do animations run whether observed or not? (If a player isn't in the system, does the Plasma Storm animation still run as an example). Does AI movement in systems with no players present pull as much from cpu&nbs

And there is nothing to prevent multicore cpus from being embedded either--each with its own cache and memory. The other advantage is the new designs look for processors that can change jobs. They can be formed in groups, operate independently or synchronistically. Essentially, the computer reconfigures cpus as needed, task by task. If more graphics are neeeded, more cpus handle graphics. When the need is fulfilled and done, they go to another task. If a

I crack me up. Boards really are being developed right now for actual release in the next year or so using multiple procesor arrays--like the Sony PSP. Right now they are mainly in some of the newer telephones and I think a netbook or two...but mainboards with mul

Welcome. I'm fairly new myself. The big games can be played online as they can be saved and picked back up later (if you can network and schedule it). Hard to find "pick up" players for a big map though. 150 worlds with ten players might be a little sluggish if laggers or older computers with slower processors are in your player mix. Sounds fun the game you played. I am working on a largish map now--just getting it balanced. Takes awhile to tweak.

Not in regards to the poster of this thread but holy cow Batman, what a bunch of immaturity. You guys who like to smurf--who cares? Smurf is just another way of saying "cheap shot" and "gutless wonder". If you are really so good and your clan is so hot why don't you do the following (instead of slinking around crushing players who don't even know how to play yet and then bragging about it like you accomplished something): ONE --Just tell people it's

A patrol boat could have the speed of a Scout, rang of an LRM and do enough damage to kill a scout with one of two hits--but have the damage modified up for scouts while modifed waaay down for all other ships classes (except for Refinery and Trade ships...which is what Patrol Boats are for in real life). I made a map where you start as a Vasari with only dead asteroids but have a fleet with cap ships and have to try to beat the enemy. I can post it in the maps for you if you want.&nbs

I prefer the adaptive neural net that was bioenginered and grafted during my construction...but hey, that's just me. Your system beats the crap outta mine--I should have your problem. We are very near embedded processors in boards (like some of the graphics already)--I would hold of on a major expensive cpu upgrade. In three years you may see boards with twenty processors built-in that share functions adaptively and will make a quad core cpu look like an old pci ram card f

I have a single core Athlon XP and am not having it as bad as you--maybe the difernt mod elements contribute to it. Try the exact same map one in the mod and one outside it and compare.

I'd like to see "torpedo patrol boats" as well--cheap ships that are as fast as scouts and excel at downing them (and perhaps trade/refinery ships) but have little armor, shields, hit points or other capabilities except maybe some small anti-air fire. Would be nice to sstop autoscouts from passing a system with a small, cheap garrison of PBs. Destroyers ould be great. Frigates have essentially replaced them in modern navies now. What would you

Use maps with smaller numbers of AIs (maps with ten AIs can make ten main fleets). Also, keep pirate bases in mind--lots of them are just like lots of players--they use a lot of resources. Large maps with lots and lots of worlds take more pc resources as well. Open a large map in Galaxy forge then zoom in close and see how slow it is. You might try making some small maps and adding/subtracting pirate bases to get an idea of what point your comp gets too loaded. Don't run o

I play single player with it off and I almost always get envoys--but I think they come only aftr you have moved your relationship with them into the positive to a certain degree. So you won't get an envoy from a group that hates you.

All of the "real" players who are leaving have nothing at all stopping them from playing the vanilla game or Entrenchment with all of their same old friends they have always played with. Most have oft said they prefer playing the pros and not the noobs so the only issue for most of them is really they are leaving. I think most are simply bored and are hopping over to the next game they will play for a few months and then drop--just fishing for some notic

The "Labs" template for Voruk's has never worked for me. The map itself does as does the other template in it--but in all the time I have played it, the specified "Labs" spawns have never shown. I may be mistaken but I am thinking Voruk's is the one I used initially to specify a specific race start and the map would not function. I'll go re-experiment with it and see what happens. Thanks for the response. I'll post my results here.
