Beta vs Final has too many changes to reasonably list. Beta 4 is about 4 months old now, and a lot has been added/tweaked changed. Of course there's the third faction (Advent), but there's also a lot of performance improvements, graphics tweaks, drastic UI improvements and more. And of course tons of balance work. Take a look at any of the semi-recent screenshots for a visual comparison. Come next week, you will be very happy with what you see!

#4: Power outage this morning that affected a large portion of SE Michigan. It's really very closely related to #2 though...
The master that gets sent to the manufacturer isn't actually gold, that's just a turn of phrase. :)
1. Organizing the hotkey list is on the list, as soon as we get someone to volunteer for some serious monkey work
I actually have an organized list from when we did up the hotkey card for the CE box. I'll go through the list to make sure nothing was changed since then. Unless you're talking about coding monkey work... that's a bit beyond me ;)
I will check on Monday morning for complete details and get back to you with the definite right answer. EDIT: It appears I was wrong. At the time, the CE is only available for purchase from Stardock. My apologies *glares at kosc*
If you want all the CE box goodies without the $15 shipping, try your local BestBuy, EB Games, GameStop or Walmart. The digital distribution version of the game will come with the manual in PDF form, but it won't have the hotkey card, art posters or soundtrack CD.

What was the size of the file? We have a very small file size limit.
Has anyone given Cedega a shot? I used to kick that around a lot when I was mostly using Linux back in college.
I've received a number of complaints about this thread... As a cat owner, I know how devastated I'd be if mine was killed. Try treating the subject with some respect. Imagine if a pet of yours died, how would you feel? I'm really sorry multi :(
Really? That seems odd... definitely some potential for legal issues there Kyro (given that the end-user might take the boxed copy if ordered and re-sell it to someone else...)
Not really. Look at the games that have serial number activation. Any Battlefield game, Guild Wars, Hellgate London, MMOs etc. You can only link the key to one account, and the accounts aren't transferrable. It's a pretty normal deal now with games.
Sometimes the IC devs make an appearance too. So if you're itching to chat with any of the IC devs or any of the folks on the Stardock side of the game, IRC is the place to go. The IRC channel was a great place for folks to look for help when Beta 3 started, and with a new patch coming today, I'm sure there will be a lot of questions. Real-time help is always the best </

Did you completely uninstall the game before updating to Beta 3? This includes going into c:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\ and deleting the Ironclad Games folder. Install Beta 3 again after that and let me know if you still are having the issue.
Yes to both of those
For the sake of everyone here who actually intends to pick up the book and read it this coming weekend/week... DO NOT POST SPOILERS. Sincerely, Your now disgruntled site administrator

your right the reason they chose that spot was to make it even harder for the Persians to get through them. as i said better trained and better equipped. Yes, but they were also able to exploit geography in a way that isn't possible in space. It's where your analogy broke down with a space-based war game.
A note about 300, they were also defending a very narrow passage that meant the enemy could only have a small number of their units in battle at any given time. If a passage is 10 men wide, the enemy can only have ten or so of its men in combat, so what you're doing is negating their superior numbers by turning the larger conflict into a series of smaller force battles. If the Spartans had engaged the Persian invasion force on an open battlefield, they would have been slaughtere
If you preorder before beta 2 starts, you will be given access to the beta when it begins next week. You should get an email saying your payment has been processed, at which point you'll have access to the beta. You can download it immediately, or wait weeks. Once you have access, it sticks. You will also be in all further beta phases. As for downloading it, you will have to use Stardock Central, our distribution and update management software. Once the
The new site going to have new forums? Same forums, with a few visual tweaks to make it fit in with the new site.
on the tactical level, speed is fine as-is. but in the grander scale of fleets, its way too slow. Positioning your fleets and defenses is a key element of strategy when you're dealing with a large Empire. You have to make choices about where you place your forces, to optimize protection and the ability to react. It's also a danger for anyone who spreads out too far too quickly, you can only effectively protect so much space before you sta
