i think culture should mak your ships fight better than if they were not on a planet under your culture influence, this would add more options for defence and offence
Well, that is what culture does currently, just not by default - and that's the problem.

ICO is very prone to disconnecting people on the slightest whim, so it seems, even if they have a decent connection... it's a very serious problem but there doesn't seem to be any sort of solution for it. You could of course try turning off firewalls/torrent clients/PeerGuardian/downloads/uploads etc, but ICO is still very finicky...

If the map is spread-out though and there aren't any decent choke points, it'll probably be quite tough, regardless of race... quickly rushing and taking out one of the enemies is probably essential. If you're a pretty strong player that should be possible to do before the other players start gearing up to attack you - if they are truly "casual" and not "decent" (and if the map isn't quite huge). Later in the game, if you happen to be Vasari, an Orkulus and a PJI (and

You can only register your game on Steam by first buying it from Steam. Similarly, you can only register via Impulse/Gamestop if you bought the game via some non-Steam source. However, if you bought Trinity, you can download the game and future updates directly from Stardock without going through Impulse/Gamestop.

I occasionally see this happen, and invariably it's when I've accidentally hit "enter" and my chat box is up. After I esc out of the chat box it's back to normal for me.

Its most powerful ability is Flak Burst, which can take out very large numbers of enemy strike craft quickly. If you aren't building it for that you'd be better off starting with a different capital ship. Quoting TEC_commander, reply 96hey i always use a kol for openers and it works awe
I mean I've played a lot single player, but can't beat unfair AI though
Spam LRM, set your planets' rally point to your capital ship, and expand and attack quickly. Eventually build a couple frigate factories on more front-line planets and build from there instead. It shouldn't take too long to get ~50 LRM; once you have that, you'll probably easily plow through whatever fleet your opponent's built. <p

Unless you're playing on Point Blank or something, the AI, especially the Easy AI, should take much longer than 10 minutes to get to you. The AI usually takes like 5 to 10 minutes per (neutral) planet it takes. So you really should have a decent amount of time to get started before you have to fight the enemy, if you're playing a 1v1. In larger games (like Random Large or Random Huge) , there are fewer planets per player to go around, but the galaxy radius doesn't increase

Well if you play games for more than a few hours, of course you're going to run into serious problems, especially in large maps. Games aren't supposed to take that long. This is a real-time strategy game, not Galactic Civilizations... that said, minidumps are somewhat more uncommon from how they were before, so I've heard, and desyncs are extraordinary rare nowadays.

It really depends on how much space there is between homeworlds. Unfortunately OP didn't specify which map(s) they play with. If it's standard random-small he'd be best off with a Progen/Seekers to colonize and then getting Illuminators or flak soon, rather than rely on tier 0 when fighting the other player. The less space there is between homeworlds, the more a player should think about using just tier 0 spam and with starting with a carrier instead of a colony cap.

The devs have more than enough on their hands already it seems, but I'm sure you could do something like this very easily with a mod.

Sins is a game which was made for the gameplay, not for the realism. With good reason; people buy the game for the gameplay! The systems are fine as is IMO. If you don't like any of the preset or random maps you can create new maps yourself that look more asthetically pleasing to you if you wish.

One other possibility to beat LRM: tech up to Heavy Cruisers ASAP. A certain player online always goes for heavy cruisers as soon as possible and is actually relatively effective at it, even in extraordinarily cramped maps. Scrap your capital ship factory on your HW after building your free one, upgrade logistics slots, and build a total of 5 military labs as soon as you can and research heavy cruisers. They counter LRM pretty effectively, but take a significant amount of research to get goin
Hi, i'm pretty new at Sins, i bought it when Sword of the stars 2 turned into a debacle, and like it alot more then i thought i would. I convinced one of my friends to play, and, now he beats me every game, with a swarm of TEC LRM's, usually in the first 15 mins. I play advent, generally, but at this point id play waterheaded pony babies if it meant i had a chance in hell of beating him.
Like Goa said, flak are your best bet; they cost the same (research-wise) a
I wonder whether we take cultural effects too seriously. Consider what Vasari especially must be like. It is a time of races cleanly seperated. A time where it is very easy to "run with your own race of buffalo rather than side with the herd of bison facing you". Like china which was closed off for was it thousands of years? In the vasari's case the borders would be closed and racial "survival" the number one instinct.&nbs

Sometimes, even though I'm not very good, I'll play a 2v2 compstomp with someone new and teach therm the value of communicating tactics and strategy for a unified front. In a game with allies, each player has to have a specific role in order for a team to win. I always goes back to this philosophy: "United we stand, divided we fall."
... I've seen
