[quote who="Vozlov" reply="5" id="2997878"](TEC) I now have a fleet of a Capital main battle ship, 6 frigates and some heavy close range cruisers. I'm in the process of making a second one of these fleets as it seems pretty effective at beating down their main force. My second fleet is the long range support one, made up of mostly missile frigates, undecided on a capital ship for it. My last fleet has a Capital spacecraft carrier and a few smaller carriers, kept way at the back. I also ha

[quote quoting="post"]The problem I have though is that once I've taken over a neutral planet and wiped out the resistance I immidiately start getting pirate convoys launching off to come attack my planet. I need A.) Weapons to deal with them. They have no shields yet nothing I have seems to put a dent in some of them. B.) More ships. I've taken over one or maybe two planets and they are assaulting me with a force of over 12 ships! Do I need to be bui

Now that I think about it, it would be quite interesting to see what would happen if LF were buffed so they had an 85% or 100% damage modifier against capital ships (instead of 50%), while at the same time the LRF damage-vs-cap modifier was reduced from 75% to 50% or so so that caps wouldn't be made even more (relatively) fragile by much. At the moment LRF are the general-purpose offensive unit when there are close nearby enemies, and because so many players spam a whole lot of LRF as soo

This could throw balance out the window in other regards, but it honestly might not since LF still get shredded by LRF. (That, and I've always wondered how the thing that is made to take down heavy armor is less effective against heavier armor than som

I was playing a small 2v2 comp stomp the other day. We had the upper hand but were unable to finish the game, stopping after about a couple hours. I then looked at the replay to see if there was anything that me or my partner could have improved on. The beginning of the game was completely normal, but after about 45 minutes in, something very weird started happening. In the original game, the AIs were almost completely focusing on attacking my partner, while I was saving up funds. But in the

It's not much, but if you made SC sensitive to it... You'd make enemy SC die in droves, meaning that all the Sova would be doing is sitting there stealing some of your income. The main thing after all that prevents strategies isn't the counter itself. It's the threat of the counter. If people

Later on (if my opponent continues to spam LRFs), I would mix in heavy cruisers, and possibly build more carrier capital ships without neglecting my own armada of LRFs. A mixed navy usually proves superior t

Reverie can turn an enemy capital ship from a dangerous ability-user into a useless brick for the duration of the battle and even longer, if Reverie is L3 (which it should be if you're using the Revelation, the other abilities aren't worth prioritizing). Doesn't that sound useful? If an enemy fleet is retreating and you have a lot of antimatter left on your Revelation, use Reverie on an enemy cap, turn your fleet's auto-attack off, and manually attack the remaining ret

Basically, I think it should be empire based and not planet based, and then reduce the embargo to levels around 10%-30%. This way, it doesn't kill you early game, and as the game advances, it's value increases. Perahps there would also be away to scale it based on the value of the planet c

Research for shields and armor might help you frigates last longer in a protracted fight but I think my stategy would be to lure the enemy fleet into a ridiculous number of defenses and while they are chewing on the hardened platforms sniper them with my

I've been playing multiplayer off and on for about a month and have become pretty decent at it, I think. Some of the players online don't seem to be all that friendly to newbies, unfortunately (most of the others have been playing for years), but I'd love to play and share the tips I've learned! It can be hard just getting started when nearly everyone you play is leagues better than you. Best way to reach me is by PM, I check often.

I posted this in another thread and wanted to give it a bit more attention to see what others think of it. If your enemy has a whole lot of LRF in the early-middle game (100+ supply worth, which isn't uncommon), is it still worth building any LF if they'll only survive for a few seconds each on the battlefield? Or, so that they would survive long enough to deal some damage against enemy heavy armor frigates, would it be worth building more than a few, meaning that a greater pr

If the AI is focusing mainly on heavy cruisers, capital ships, and carriers, you might want to focus on mostly carriers with bombers, plus flak. As long as you make sure your bombers don't run into Phasic Trap, taking down the AI's fleet shouldn't be that difficult. It'd be easiest if you can get to fight the AI in a neutral or friendly gravity well, where your carriers can just perch on the edge and bomb the enemy's HCs and caps with inpunity. The AI just doesn't know

Given the current balance (unbalance?) of relative faction strength, I don't think TEC should be buffed, even in an area they're relatively weak in, such as late-game. If they haven't beaten or sufficiently suppressed their opponent(s) by then, then the TEC player deserves to play at a significant disadvantage in exchange for the advantage they had at the beginning of the game.

Ever since the website update, every page is taking 5 to 10 seconds to load in Chrome. As in 5 to 10 seconds at 100% CPU. It was pretty bad before (took a few seconds) but is horrendous now. For some reason Firefox doesn't have this problem. I have heard that the problem is related to a bug Chrome has with Webkit and the background image, but unfortunately Chrome Adblock cannot block background images. Also, when I mouse over a reply in the forum, CPU usage goes to
