IskatuMesk, you are truly a master at making those particle effects and meshes. Well, at least in my opinion. They looked great at the end of your video, and I didn't even notice any lag (which was very noticeable in Salvation). Glad that everything is coming together, however slowly. One question, though - and I apologize if I don't know how to spell the names of the races - the Anahn ships seem to only have one texture that is on every ship on every surface. W

Just a thought.
I agree with you - I think the devs need to take a look at all diplomacy, not just the pacts. Just one thing that I think would help tremendously would be to lower the supply required to construct an envoy. I think it is 8 right now (I am not sure) but I think that making it 4 and po
I would really like to know why Yarlen and the other devs believe that phase missles as they are right now are not a balance issue.
I have, and I find it a bit disappointing - they should know to do this, especially for high-value planets such as Terran or Desert. But possibly it is just about impossible to code and that is why it has not been done. The AI will also never use Wail of the Sacrificed as Advent Rebels or Stripped to the Core as Vasari Loyalists. If they AI could be programmed to use these later, it would be great, but as far as I know the devs have no intention of i
@Bilun - The culture bonus is a percentage increase of what the planet is generating currently; with the total amount being determined by planet type (i.e., Terran and Oceanic are better for social specialization, so can be upgrading further than say a Volcanic). The max culture bonus is 100%. @Ibnpatuta - No trailer is planned, but we'll post some screenshots on the site once we finalize the planet textures. @
Yarlen, just a quick question, or really two. Will there be a trailer for this new DLC (Forbidden Worlds)? And will you post the screenshots to the Media section of the website? Oh, and if you ask me, the next DLC, if there is one (and I hope there is) should focus on culture. And maybe also have some new character portrait sets. That would be amazing.
I think kbeast007 means that they get 10% more time on their missions on the second tier of titan research. I don't really think the goal was to be exciting, it was just to add a bit of benefit to researching the titan build levels other than the ability to built your titan 25% further.
I am so so so so excited for this... I have felt for a while that the Explore part of the 4X in Sins was a bit lacking, and this DLC not only addresses but completely overhauls that system... Thank you, Yarlen and Stardock and Ironclad too if they are not too busy creating their new game. I will most certainly purchase this. To many more Sins Rebellion DLC packs! That is fantastic, Yarlen. And I don't know why I have waited so long to post my opinions about this update, but on the whole it looks great. Amazing to see that you are not only adjusting balance but coming up with new and interesting ideas (the reworked artifacts, titan research benefits) at the same time. Oh, and by the way, I love the new planet textures. Will these completely replace the old ones or will both the new and the old still be in the g

Oh, and in the next Sins I would like to see... hmmmm... a campaign. With live-action cut-scenes, and Vasari costumes. Especially Vasari women costumes. Wouldn't want to miss out on such an important aspect in the drive for more explosions.
I too feel like joining in the fun. And when I said that I like my Sins "on the rocks", I did not mean watered down. I literally meant "on the rocks". No ice, no water, just Sins.
You could make an ability for a command ship, as ability slots on ships are not that readily available, to do the opposite of heal. Attach the weapon effect to an ability point on the mesh and boom, your command ship drops the shields and fires a couple torpedoes into the bridge. I also would not recommend auto cast for that one, although, the ensuing havoc would be hilarious to watch. <br
Ah, but you see, it is different to self-destruct than to command your entire fleet to destroy one of their fellow ships. Self-destructing, it, well, just doesn't have the same sick joy to it. It doesn't make me feel EVIL. But what if there was an ability that turned the selected ship neutral, so that your ships could attack it, that would be ideal. Because not only would I get to tell my ships to fire on another one of my spacecraft, but that spacecra
I love to do it in Command and Conquer. It's just fun to make up your own storyline sometimes - say that your fleet fights a battle and is completely destroyed except for one capital ship. But you, being the evil galactic ruler that you are, do not allow retreat. It is cowardice, and cowardice in your crew means death. You tell all of your other ships at your homeworld to attack the badly beaten capital ship as soon as he arrives. They quickly eliminate the cra

The answer is in the cube though so its going to take awhile to dig it out.
Maybe he's referencing Hellraiser. Or Transformers. But please not Transformers. Are there any cubes in Sins? On ships, structures, anywhere?
To me, the back story and lore would be more important than having a fun and challenging campaign (simply because there are already so many fun Sins maps, but no back story except for the little description of the map, the description of the sub faction and what is found in the intro video and manual). But if it was possible to have both, by all means, both is better. I would actually prefer if the campaign forced me to play
Does the success of Rebellion and Sins of a Solar Empire as a whole mean that we will be seeing a sequel sooner rather than later? I hope so, but I would rather that Stardock and Ironclad take their time on the next Sins (not take a long time to get around to it, take a while to make it great). But I think Stardock has truly learned from and will never repeat the debacle launch of War of Magic again. I am very glad Stardock did well last year and
Finally! An update on the next update! This makes me happy. Thank you Frogboy. It is great that probably alongside balance improvements the graphics of the game are also being enhanced.
From what I saw, Salvation was not even close to a failure, but if Retribution is so much better that when it is finished it will be incomparable, then by all means go on saying it was a failure. That screenshot is beautiful, IskatuMesk. I have only begun to look at your models recently, and to see them textured and shadowed is simply stunning. You are one of the few that set their bar for quality so high.
No ice? I like my Sins on the rocks.
I will keep track of this until 2014 and even afterwards. I would have loved to make a movie out of Sins myself, but I doubt I could do it justice like you could, IskatuMesk. I look forward to following this project in the coming years. Just don't give up, please, I already had to deal with the sudden and sad death of Dawn of Victory. I just discovered Black Sun Salvation from this thread, watched a bit of it, and will finish i
I was just playing Sins the other day and I noticed the Rankulas had these same markings all over it. And the Nanite Swarms actually do use the texture - it is just really, really tiny. So maybe this is just a style thing on the Rankulas and its swarms? Or maybe the ship and the swarms are the answer to what is chasing the Vasari. I hope for the latter.
