I have been playing TL again in the last few days again and I have come to the conclusion that ankylon is still pretty much useless at any level vs a smart opponent who ignores it. However, novaliths were quite useful. You really just need 2. If the opponent backs off for a while because of your starbases or whatever, you can get 2 up quite easily for the price of a titan. This will cause far more damage than an ankylon ever will. This alone redeems TL in my books. I wil

I should rephrase my previous statements: Have you often seen TL win through the power of twin fortresses? This is not a common scenario by a long, long shot, nor is getting novaliths out when your opponent has a fleet that can just bypass starbases. We should not be saying these are TL's strengths, because these address extremely rare situations that mostly wont occur in actual games. TL needs practical solutions, stuff that counters common early game items. I'd still say buf
Twin fortresses Novalith High level ankylon w/ inspire and impair How many times have you seen these being wielded by an opponent? I, for one, have never seen twin fortresses used against me. I have never seen a lvl 6 ankylon that someone else owned I have probably seen novaliths used against me about twice Sure, you might say that I havent played enough games etc. etc. (believe me when I say I have pl
TEC Loyalists are currently still underpowered. The fundamental playstyle of TL doesnt work. Let me explain. Its early game, 10 minutes in. You and your opponent are facing off. Each side has the regular 20 or 30 light frigates. So you go starbase, they build another 20 light frigates. They ignore your starbase, run around your backworlds blowing up labs/extractors and bombing your planets. You cant do anything cause you have a weaker fleet So, you must go light frigate spam y
It seems nowadays if you are TEC or Advent, it is preferable to only use two units in the early game: Light Frigates (Cobalts) and corvettes. This is because it is cheap and counters everything well. Usually these are build in 50/50 ratio at the start, then changes to counter what your opponent has. The goal is to overwhelm your opponent in low tech stuff quickly. This kind of fleet is good against a human player but bad against AI.
I've almost always played with fixed teams on which means we get the trade agreement by default - but I haven't noticed a difference to my trade income. Next time I play I might look out for this. Also, I gotta say TEC pacts are the best in the game. Trade, missile, armour and supply pacts are all great
What is the point of getting a trade agreement other than a boost in diplomatic relations? Do you get some kind of trade bonus, or do their trade line count towards your max trade line if you link up?
Quoting DA_YAZ, reply 26I had the pleasure of playing TL in the game Goafan described above. I actually happened to have recorded that game. I hope you don't mind that I put it on YouTube. I know it's not as good as replays, but at least these don't become out of date with game updates. And you can see just how bad my management is!
Thanks for posting Goa. It was interesting to see the game
Hello all, I had the pleasure of playing TL in the game Goafan described above. I would like to contribute my thoughts to how that game turned out and clarify some things I think are important. Please bear in mind these are my own thought processes and are subject to significant pro-TEC Loyalist biases. As Goa mentioned, we each colonised half of the map. I proceeded to build my twin fortress along my frontline and my t
I have bin playing sins of the solar empire rebelion for a while now but i just cant seem to find a faction that feels right for me. And i love this game to death. So i really want a favorit faction(a weakness of mine) to play with. My playstyle is: Small armies, Assasintion, raiding, hit and run, scorch earth etc. The one thing i try to avoid is a straight up fight. I d
Yeah that's the problem with the Ankylon, at high levels its this awesome ship that makes all your other ships even more awesome, and it can laugh off focus fire from like 6000 enemy ships, but before that its just like yeah.... I'm a large ship! And am hard to destroy!... and I can apply a marginal damage reduction to friendly ships, and disable abils for like .1 seconds! But if you can max out group shield and Disruption Matrix you can use
Quoting Rovert10, reply 28 Quoting ARESIV, reply 27Not to mention that most people will hesitate to attack a single upgraded starbase..... especially for TEC with Big Red Button... so they will either avoid it or bomber spam it into oblivion. If you build 2 Starbases... they are most certain to bomber spam both starbases away.... it just takes a few more min
Because since our titan has no aoes and we cannot win battles outside of our grav wells, whats your strategy for winning? What do you call Disruption Vortex? True its great strength is in disabling titans, but it will pop frigates eventually at high levels. As I see it, if you're going TEC Loyalists online you should see your role in economic terms, using your inherit TEC economic prowess to ensure you keep a s
I used to play single player a lot too. Then I got pwned at online. That said, you're right about the titan. It comes in handy sometimes, and probably won't ever die so you dont lose your investment. I just find caps to be more useful abilitywise than ankylon. Blowing up people's fleets with red buttons also my favourite pasttime. : ) My fellow TEC loyalist players (all 3 of em) would probably agree..
How the heck do you guys win as TL? Because since our titan has no aoes and we cannot win battles outside of our grav wells, whats your strategy for winning? My personal philosophy about how tec loyalists are supposed to win: 1) Rush early game with lf and corvettes. Rush till you cant rush no more and then secure front lines. 2) Build starbases and eco up. 3) Build carriers. And capital ships. Titan negligible. 4) Build novaliths. Protect entrance
My favourite techs as tec.... 1) Remote sensor probes for the Arcova Scout. Puts a probe in the system the scout is in and lets you have vision there for the next 12 minutes (i think) if you research both levels. I try to have a few scouts running around doing this. Really good for early game 2) Terran planet population upgrades: Probably a lot more common, but a good boost to income early game. 3) Merchant docks: gives much more trade inc
@Seleuceia, thank you for responding in detail. I have learnt a lot about how to fight advent from your post. I think you are right on when you say the advent likes to build corvettes and disciples early game. One time I faced a good advent player and he built 10 ish corvettes, making me think he was going to spam them. I started to build flak but he scouted and switched to disciple spam. Fell right into that one lol. I think he had around 70 disciples within a few minutes, which would have o
Which units do you use in early game? I've played against a few very good (in my opinion) players who spammed a whole bunch of different combos. Ive seen flak + corvettes, flak + LRF, even light frigate spam + corvettes. Just curious about what you guys find to be a decent and safe fleet composition in early game. This is assuming frontliner position in 5v5 random.
Hi Goa, Another novalith fan :D. And oops I didn't make it clear that I was referring to a 2v2 situation on medium random map. By the time theres enough money to build novaliths I shouldve scouted their worlds and gotten some remote sensors up. This will give me the info on whether superweapons are ok, or its time to fight for my life lol. That said, this works in 2 v 2. I think 5 v 5 the homeworlds are closer together, and novaliths won't
Hi fellow sins players, a newbie here. I've recently gotten sins rebellion after playing the vanilla version and I am enjoying the game very much, so much so that I got my friends into it, and we started doing some lan compstomping. Now I have moved onto multiplayer where I mainly play TEC loyalist (I have an affinity for novaliths). I usually play on 2v2 random medium map, sometimes 5v5s. Very exciting games, I'm sweating half the time lol.
