Yes I know thats a big fleet but 5 hosts could defeat 3 hanger bays.
Well...5 drone hosts are practically a raiding fleet in themselves...but if they were using bombers to destroy structures, 3 hanger bays fight fighters, backed by a couple of repair, would go a long way towards neutralizing them. If the drone hosts bring fighters, they can certainly neutralize your fighters, but it is going to take them a very long time to destroy structures. Either way,

Strikecraft tend to be better in mass....I tend not to build any, or I want at least a couple. And I also put fighters in them as well, because they can pick off scouts trying to cross my systems, or they can destroy light siege raiders. You need a heck of a lot of defenses to stand up to a concentrated fleet. Turrets are definately better than supporting each other when concentrated, but I almost never build them like this...I spread them out a bit, because
If your advent, the research that makes it cheaper makes it far more worth your while. Add fully upgraded motherships colonization and you get free exploration.
Yep, with Advent it is economically worthwhile because of the reduced costs. For everyone else, you have to luck out. One of the best things you can get is not an artificact...it is a world with TWO trade bonuses! If you do get a world with 2 trade bonuses, fill every slot you have on that w

Revelation is purely a counter capital ship. Your enemy went a little bit overboard with 3, but you certainly did notice the "perma reverie" was pretty annoying, if not down right lethal. The siege ability is just kind of an added bonus.
I think you're being a little unfair to vasari. (Being a vasari player myself) Most noobs aren't taht good with vasari. Early game though i've seen over 30 assimilators within 20 minutes along with an egg. I think you should have mentioned capital ship usefullness. You did on advent but tec are somewhat reliante but mostly as liability ships while varari can do with only the egg. RA is a great thing. I've played multiple games where RA gets me a 1000 plus fleet expecially with 15% extr
I'll disagree about the Marza though. Best ship out there, cap-to-cap.
I thought I did talk up the Marza a fair amount....it got a lot of coverage, and to do more would make this a Marza thread where I would have had to stop and spontaneously break into song to convey the true majesty of the ship. Marza is almost always my first ship off the line as TEC...and it was even before it got the ungodly powerful Missile Barrage in 1.12. It is also one of the most c
Strikecraft should definitely have a price tag attached to them. But individual rebuilding costs are too complicated for Sins. Instead, make carriers cost 20% more fleet supply which translates into credits/metal/crystal per second. This would represent the cost of constantly rebuilding strikecraft.
Making carriers more expensive is certainly an alternative, but they would probably still be worth it.... Video GPU and Memory on the Video Card is what helps you maintain high framerates at higher resolutions on your new monitor, not additional computer memory. And for the someone who repeatedly acknowledges they don't know what they are doing, I would agree with the previous poster that you probably shouldn't mess with overclocking.

Some recent posts got me thinking about current game balance for the different races in 1.12. I have noticed many new players with general questions and most of the older players are more focused on debating fine points of the game, so I decided to do this overview for the newer population of players. First, I think 1.12 is incredibly balanced between each race...and though I know many people complain carriers are overpowered (and they are slightly), the reason the game is so ba
TF2 looks ubar good (shiny pyros) and so does CoH (with 2x AA I usually get around 35 FPS, would more RAM allow me to increase the AA and get better framerates? Cuz I don't see why the card would be having issues).
Framerates are generally boosted by faster cpu's for processor intensive games, or more powerful videocards with more video memory for video intensive games (or a combination of the two). Having more computer RAM probably won't boost your
Additionally, this might also add a good reason to keep strikecraft docked in a system with strong anti-strikecraft defenses, such as flak on hangars and other fighters, if its other ship defenses were weaker. Run in your combat ships and wait until you've disabled much of the anti-strikecraft forces. I like the dichotomy and having to more intelligently use carriers.
Yup, it would generally make you think a bit more about how you use carriers. They would still
I might try it but i use to build progen first all the time in my early days. The trick to do what I am talkin bout is building them early on so you get thos bonus eeeeeearly. The progen doesnt have much role in my setup. Its great for gaurdians which are not a big role for me as they use to be. They are very important tho. Please explain how building the progen first will help out my fleet mid game so I understand what i am doing lol
The Progen is what
We must have a different definition of effective. Try to use flak vs LRFs, and you will lose mroe credits in structures then the opponent will in LRFs. And you are not the only one that can micro, he can micro too. Unless he happens to be TEC, he can easily retreat his LRFs before they are destroyed.
Actually, enough LRF can destroy many things before even their counters can kill them. But that is nothing new from 1.05. I was only responding to y

Flak is actually still effective against LRF, especially if you micro. The problem isn't that flak doesn't work, the problem is that fighters and bombers cost nothing to rebuild. The flak can kill it all day, so as long as the fighters are slowly killing off your expensive ships, you are the one losing. Tons of flak CAN shut down carriers, forcing them to pull back and rebuild their strikecraft. You just have to have some other capability besides the flak to press th
I am actually not unhappy with how mines work per se, but I noticed other people made a lot of comments on them, and the tendency I've seen over the years is to overcorrect and do something BAD when an adjustment is made to a unit (mega-nerf it, remove it altogether, etc). I figured an idea like this keeps the mines, keeps their effectiveness (it slows you down as the attacker if you want to spend time clearing the minefield), but removes the tedium and micromanagement. My plan is to use Percheron based fighters to launch unsold copies of Daikatana at the mines, thereby setting them off. This is just a temporary measure, of course. Ironclad has acknowledged people are unhappy with how mines work and hinted they are adding some kind of automated mine clearing. Not that we would run out of unsold copies of Daikatana.
My startegy for the Advent against TEC is that I try to have more ships than the TEC have. Then When I am near A planet of theirs where they have their Fleet, I invade and destroy their fleet before they destroy mine. That way, they have to retreat to rebuild their fleet, and by then I have twice as much ships as before. Then again, I strike and Obliderate their fleet. By this final time, you should be at the world next to their homeworld. By this time I have a huge fleet and maxed out
Contrary to popular accusation, I'm actually basing my opinion completely off my own experience as a Vasari player. If I was Advent or TEC and just hated the ability because I couldn't beat it, why would I come in here saying it sucks? Wouldn't I say it was overpowered? First let me ask a question, does activating two Stabilizers in the same gravity well, one after another, grant you one or two Returning Armadas? Because I activated two stabilizers
I suppose an all-bomber tactic could work in some situations? Say the enemy is carrier heavy, all-fighter, but you have a general fleet advantage. Build assault frigates, take out 1/2 the carriers then undock all bombers and mop up. One advantage of strike craft/carriers is that you can reconfigure fighters bombers, eg. between each attack. Could probably use this for a nice surprise.
You probably want to use fighters and reconfigure
