I think you guys should remember that scout ships and light frigates are expendable. Use them as sacrificial shield to kill the mines. And how large does a mine have to be really? A light frigate could probably carry anywhere from 10 to 20, and a mine laying ship? Many more than that. However, a dedicated mine sweeping ship (such as a converted Kodiak) would be extremely handy, especially against the mine rush. If you don't want to lose 100 LRMs in 10 s

OK, I am coming back to Demigod Beta for a bit -- I am partial to Regulus. I like running around and shooting things. Once I get good at the game, I might try one of the generals. I really haven't played since the first engine test, so a bunch of things have probably changed, and maybe I'll discover someone else that I like more....
i'm currius as to what you mean by this? in vanilla sins you beat your enemy's fleet and then went on a ranpage throu his worlds, how is that strategy? imo the whole concept of blitzkrieg in space warfare is kinda hmmm. atleast now there is time to rebuild a fleet and try to make a comeback
First of all, most people get rolled over because they sit there and watch there fleet get annihilated instead of falling back to world with repair bays
It took me a while to figure out how to sweep mines. Finally I figured it out (At least for TEC, should work for the Vas as well, Advent may be skrewed). If you make a fleet of nothing but scout frigs and flak frigs, they will make a nice, solid formation together instead of splitting into two lines. This can very easily be placed near a group of mines, and the flaks will tear them to ribbons in a matter of moments.
Yeah, I was thinking to try this...I fi
I have had a bit more time to play around...the Advent and TEC mines seem balanced enough, since they have a cap to them. The vasari mines are totally imbalanced....you just can't clean em up as fast as they get placed...and they are limitless. And you tend to have "accidents" with the ships you try to use to clean em up. Don't get me wrong, I usually play Vasari, but this is just crazy...
i'm not too worried about turtling because you can still go around a hard point.... if you can find a way through the mines anyway. Several thousands of resources in mines plus a bunch in a starbase means the enemy has that many less ships to fight you with soo *shrug*
With starbases the way they are and every system being mined, almost everything will be a hard point after a while. =) Of course, fleets will be huge too.
I have to agree with everyone here...I tried using scouts and scouts assisted by other ships. Unless I'm doing something horribly wrong, scouts do not seem to be much of a counter at all. To make matters worse, it is very very hard to steer ships through minefields. I have never really had much of a problem with the big rounded paths ships take through things, but with every system chock full of enemy mines, it is horrible trying to move your ships aro
The mines need an effective counter than can come along and clean them up..... otherwise... Mine Spam = [e digicons]
First, I have only started playing Entrenchment, but I find mines horribly powerful, and there doesn't seem to be an effective way to counter them. I tried using scouts and some other ships to clean them up, and it just gets my ships killed. It takes tons of micro. On top of this, Minelayers can do suicide runs into your fleet. They only have to drop a couple mines in or near your fleet, and I find that before I can get my ships out of the way, they get
I was thinking you culd add poledancer or two, whores and strippers and some fireworks and pyrotechnics! and maybe parade a pink elephant in the middle of siege frigs while poledancers dance on top of it?
BACK! Back under the Bridge, Vile Forum Troll! If you continue to misbehave your "Sailor Moon" privileges will be revoked for one week!
Is this still a viable tactic? Looking to get back into this over the winter break. Had some fun times sneaking in 15 or so siege frigates to my enemies' home planets while engaging their fleet on their border, but I haven't played since the big siege frigate nerf.
I hesitate to call it non-viable, because you can in fact knock out enemy worlds with it, but it is not as easy or cheap to do as it was in the early patches. I have had people use it against me and som
Not knowing that there was a new patch I purchased Sins today here in Germany. So after reading the news I just downloaded the whole game in Impulse. Registering the game with the serial was no problem at all, downloading was very fast (under one hour) and I even got the option to install the english version (which I prefer anyway). So here goes another "I love Stardock" post.
Yeah, Stardock has a great system in place with Impulse.
Vasaaaaari phone homeeeee.... new sound file for activating RA
Nice! If only someone had offered the Vasari M&M's when they arrived....now mankind will just have to die.
PS. Cykur, you're my hero.
Hooray!
TEC still has a really slow start
Everyone has a slow start compared to a Vasari with accessible neutrals.
The thing that I still love the vasari for, and always will is their economy requires NO imperial labs
Try playing a map where you don't get any neutrals. Can be challenging.
those phase missles can pwn siddy's progen battle ball.
S
Hey Cykur What race do you play as anyway?
When all my allies want to play Vasari, I play TEC. When all my allies want to play Advent, I play Vasari. When I want to kill Vasari, I play TEC. When I want to kill Advent or TEC, I play Vasari. When I want a challenge, I fight Advent with TEC. When I am concerned my allies are noobs and I might have to solo 4 people, I play Vasari. When I
I thought that the Advent had the cheapest ships, but I could be wrong. Your point still stands though. Besides, it's not really that hard to get the tech needed for Hosikos, is it?
Disciples are indeed pretty cheap, but other stuff isn't. Of course, you are paying for quality when you buy an Illuminator.
Good luck to the TEC player that survives to get to Hosrikos or whatever they are. Vasari Spam City New strat VSC ha ha It funny.
Oh noes! The race with the most expensive ships is going to spam the race with the cheapest ships to death! The horror!
The stacking bug was fixed too, right?!! I recall the beta version I tested I was checking and didn't find the stacking bug.
deleted, repeat post...durn lag
TEC are just too weak and again weak. The end Vasari rule. Kostura Cannon KABBOOOMMM I win the game.
Not True! Exhaustive Combat Tests have shown that 10 out of 10 TEC Fleets using the HOSHIKO (TM) absolutely wtfpwn enemy fleets and have a HUGE reduction in combat losses, crew injuries, and property insurance claims!&nbs
personally find all of this pretty funny. vasari/advent can duke it out in the air for all i care. i play tec and we're left behind in the air war. the nice thing is, our carriers are cheap, and our ships are cheap. tec is designed to lose ships as fodder and replace em faster than they can be lost.
Not True! Exhaustive Combat Tests have shown that 10 out of 10 TEC Fleets using the HOSHIKO<span style="font-siz
so how many Hoshinkos are we talking? 50% of your fleet?
Oh...I don't think you even need that many, per se....try 25% of your fleet to start with. It IS pretty funny when you make tons though...until the opponent starts spamming counters. And enough bombers will still kill any ship in one pass, so you still need enough carriers to do the same back.
I agree the TEC are econ based and should be building more ships to overwhelm a
Yeah, bombers peel cruisers, and yeah, fighters peel bombers. If they could catch Siddy, he'd be peeling potatoes.
I have TWO WORDS for you! HOSHIKO's .....and......HOSHIKO's!
The Marza gets the ability at level 6, Missile Barrage. It is channeld and CAN BE INTERRUPTED! You can use things like an Akkan Ion Bolt, or Marauder Phase out Hull, or the Advent caps sleepy ability on the ship I can't remember its name....there are a couple others too, I think. The main thing is to be careful! You could hit the Marza with bombers from a distance, or try to get your ships out of the blast radius, or just focus all of your firepower on the Marza befo
