Static defense is useful when the enemy has to face you at the static defense point. Static defense simply gives you more firepower / credit than any frigate. Yes some might say the enemy can go around them, but that is not possible in all cases. And of course repair platforms are a must.

Too many people focus on caps. I would say focus only the caps that will become very dangerous, like a rampaging egg or marza nearing lvl 6, or a sova thats doing embargo on your homeworld. Otherwise only target caps if your damage type is not optimal vs the enemy frigates. Like if you have ton of LRMs but enemy is all flak, take his cap out and probably retreat afterwards. While Akkans is good if you plan on running, Marza can turn a whole battle once it hits 6, which will give you an upper hand if you lack the economy. Main reason is that it produces ships cheaply. Last time I tried to calculate it came up to your ships being 2/3 their cost. The second reason is that it produces ships really fast. Fact that it can free up logistics only comes into play on larger maps. AM is only consideration on caps. And most people will not leave multiple abilities on a cap on autocast for this reason. In case of support frigates, they tend to die before extinguishing their AM anyway, so just build more. 5 hours is a really long game. You can have incomes exceeding 1k a second in that time.
Vasari have the worst mid game of all 3. Usually your mid game with vasari revolves around 3 startegies (assuming you aren't just defending with ton of flak). 1) You mass Light Carriers for bomber runs to take out caps, structures and bases. 2) You get HC to bust up mass flak 3) You work towards RA, neglecting fleet. Usually #3 is an ace in the hole, and it will turn a tide of a game towards your team, if they can hold out.
Depends. I could go second fleet off the bat if im not going econ, or if im rushing multiple caps. Usually if you are on the front u get first upgrade right away, and then only upgrade if you hit the cap and have income to build more ships.

I love colored skyboxes, including the bright one. IMO going for "realism" when you have things like phase jump in a game is silly. The colored skyboxes really add to the game.
Are you sure people leave or they crash, which still happens. Also, are you sure the game is not already decided?
Think about Modular architecture is that if you go akkans first, you kinda negate some of the bonus of it since you get free extractors. Still I do try to get it in early in any situation where I will go civil.
