I have to admit that I don't understand why you are making these changes. I think it would be a good idea to post the reasoning behind the changes you are planning, as it currently looks like arbitrary changes. Things like making trained units have only 2 HPs, just makes units easier to kill (also makes training almost useless, as almost any attack can do 2 damage.) This wouldn't change anything about fights, since both sides would have the same issue. If you a

The food/housing/prestige mechanic was the change that made Elemental a game that was actually fun to play. Why change the unique game mechanic that worked well already? You aren't the government, so your motto shouldn't be "If it ain't broke, fix it till it is." There are plenty of issues with Elemental that can be fixed, but I am surprised to say the least that you are going after that mechanic when it was finally balanced to the point of being interesting and fun.

I went to a level 3 quest location (I believe it was called ancient ruins) with a weak character and it asked me if I was ready to fight. I responded No, since I didn't think that character would survive a fight, and woudl come back later. The quest hut disappeared, and I was a little bummed. But what is worse is that all L3 quest huts don't work at all now. I can run all the L1,2, and 4 quests, but the L3 ones just don't work. I walk on them and it is like the t
We totally need Stardock to make an X-COM-like game.
That would be awesome. Actually it isn't that much conceptually different than EWOM. Although the tactical battles are more indepth, and base building is maybe a little less complex.

Anyway to destroy a current improvement outside the city? I am trying to destroy a shard improvement, since it is an empire improvement, and it didn't upgrade when I researched improved shard harvesting (or whatever the tech is to improve shard harvesting). Or better yet, just fix that bug, so that the empire harvested shard will switch over to a kingdom harvested shard when you conquer the city, so you don't have to destroy the improvement and build a new one.

I actually really like the idea of an explorable dungeon. I never thought of it before reading this journal post, but it sounds cool. Kind of like in Red Alert where you would have some missions take place inside a building, instead of always outside with your base. The gameplay wasn't really even all that different, just as it wouldn't be here, you just couldn't make new troops and would just be limited to what you brought with you into the dungeon. I can understand

I had a couple scouts die to bandits, and got a little tired of it, so I married up a scout with one of my champions to protect him. As soon as I did, the view distance of the party changed to the champions smaller view distance. So I had to disconnect the two, and my scout ended up dying again in a few turns. This makes no sense, as the scout won't suddenly have worse vision traveling with someone who can't see as far. It should be the highest view di

I don't like how the Constitution is only useful in multiples of 5. That means that you need to gain 5 levels increasing only constitution just to have any impact on the HP of your character. I would move that down to 2 at the most (still forcing two levels dedicated to constitution to have any effect, which isn't great either), and remove the arbitrary 2x multipler to the level. This will put HP at around the same level, but make constitution a meaningful stat. &nbs

I have to admit that the part of elemental that disappoints me the most is the city building. There is very little specialization that I have come to expect after having so much of that in Galactic Civilizations 2. In fact it almost reminds me of Civilization, where deciding what to build bears very little to the strategy of the game. What I suggest is that you continue to have a specified number of "resource" buildings per town level (buildings like the library for knowle

I have an ogre outside one of my towns, and whenever I fight him, the game instantly crashes the minute he decides to attack one of my troops during his turn. I can attack him during my turn, but both times I tried to kill him it crashed as soon as he made an attack during his turn. I am running Windows XP 32bit, with a Radeon 3850 256MB video card, and a AMD Athlon X2 4200+ CPU (manchester, on S939 board). It has been a while since I have played the game

Unfortunately there is no crash files, since the game hung and didn't crash. As reported multiple times before, the game would hang for me at the splash screen, and never recover (cannot alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-delete). I figured out that it was my firewall that had a pop-up that stopped the program from continuing in the previous beta, but before Beta 3 I could always alt-tab to it and allow the program access. Since Beta 3, alt-tab no longer works on the spla

The mounting of the horse on the last picture looks really bad. I'll download the latest version and try out the new quests. The game is starting to shape up! I look forward to trying out the finished version.

The issue is that when the Firewall block comes up, there is no way to alt-tab to it to tell it to allow Elemental access. Reading the other problems, most had older S939 AMD processors, which means they likely have an nForce Chipset. This may mean that we all are using the nVidia Firewall that came with it, and thus don't have the option to set new programs manually (at least that I know of.) Hopefully you can change it as I suggested in the other thread, so that we can a

I had to turn off my firewall to get it to work. The inability to alt-tab out of the splash screen is what makes it hang. I was getting a firewall check since Elemental was trying to access the internet (which is strange at that point in the game). Maybe you should to the internet access later, when it is possible to alt-tab in the game, or change that splash screen to allow it?

I have the exact same problem. It hangs at the loading screen to the point I have to reset my computer to recover. It has done this both times I have started Beta 3. It hangs once the Elemental Beta 3 screen shows up on the screen. The feather is there, but nothing to click, and I am unable to alt-tab out, or even access task manager using ctrl-alt-del. I could only recover with a hard reset both times. This is my system: Microsof

Is the 3D view supposed to be extremely blurry, like there is a fog over everything? Is it just that I am in a foggy area, and evrything looks foggy, or do you think there is an issue with my fog of war that makes it so there is no clear places (even my sovereign is fogged out)?

Is there evidence of this? The purpose of comparing Stardock to the EVE developers was that it appears that EVE goes to great lengths to incorpor

I kind of like the first camp. If I would like this game to be like any other game, I would pick Mount and Blade:Warband, since it is the most natural game I have played in a long time. It still has its issues, but there are a lot of game mechanics that are natural and aren't obvious game mechanics. What I wish this game was, was a game that tried to balance through natural means, and not something that changes game mechanics in a unbelievable fashion to attempt to change
