I can honestly say the only reason I have Impulse is because that's how they do updates to Galciv now. Used to be SDC, now it's Impulse. But while I'm there, I shop around the specials and buy every now and then. That's just how the chips fell, in my mind. Although to the Stardock marketing department, I'm sure that's far from "luck". Now I plan to spend a good portion of my Christmas break playing Sins of a Solar Empire, because I h

I think FPS is here to stay. May not be improving that much right now, but it was just sooooo fun to begin with. Nvidia's got their 3D cards coming out, and with better video and still better megabaud rates on the net, there's still more fun to be had. With finer video resolution we might start seeing more snipers shooting from 500 yards out, and a big part of your challenge is just spotting them. Plus now we've got 3-screen setups now, wh
I'm surprised the flaming terd posts didn't immediately start flying again at 12:01 AM on December 26th. :)
When everybody is away, that's when people like to work on the the more widely-used things. It's like how the network administrator will upgrade the systems at midnight. Whenever something's live and in use, it's a no-win situation for the maintenance guy who has to change it. He's damned no matter what he does or how he does it, and the whole world knows about it.
People really ought to be looking at the TOTAL wins AND losses on their record as a measure of their respect. Over on the CnC ladder the players with a much higher total games usually beats a player with less games but a higher percentage. Unless they're smurfing, and that happens. That's a different kind of respect: there's respect you have to give noobs in that they might really be smurfs, but at the same time I don't have much respect for smurfs.
Argh these duplicate posts. SD's app server is screwing up. The fact that they chose Microsoft for their app server isn't helping.
None of them place the same value on human life that we do
Yeah, they place pretty much EXACTLY the same value on human life we do. The Chinese value Chinese lives more than American lives. The Americans value American lives more than Chinese lives. That's why we have wars.
One has to gauge how much winning an argument on an internet message board is a priority in your life. I worked in science before, too, but if some people don't want to believe it, they can believe I'm really a pimp for all I care. Besides--I never said I wasn't. Right now I've got some moron on the internet of my own demanding that I present evidence that the melting tundra is releasing methane. Like that is really that hard to find online--le
If you have "worked in science" you would know you can't simply claim you have evidence.
I have worked in science before, too, and I'm exercising my right not to show any evidence of it, either. One has to gauge how much winning some argument on an internet board with people you've never met is a priority in your life. I just know that I'm stuck at in-laws and I'm bored to tears. People can think I'm lying and I'm really a pimp for a
Hotels good. You don't have to be your own maid service. Hotels on an expense account even better. Steak and seafood every night.
I gotta disagree there - On the pure military aspect we can pretty well take anyone.
There's a bit of a gray line where pure military stops and everything else starts. If the troops, the leadership, or the country supporting the troops lacks the resolve, does that count? That's Vietnam. The more wrong your cause, the bigger your fifth column undermining you. And that cancels out a lot of smart bombs and infrared sens
Not a clue. Why don't you send them to me and I'll try? I know Sins works on Nvidia in dual-screen mode, though--it just runs on only one screen and it won't let your mouse cursor leave the Sins screen if you're not in windowed mode. That's probably a good sign.
Ooooooh the runway outside is frightful but the terminal is so delightful as long as there's nowhere to go find a ho, hire a ho, #%@#$ @# a ho! We've been waiting 8 hours connecting, the couple beside me is necking there's no empty bathroom stalls to go yellow snow! yellow snow! yellow snow!
Uh I doubt it. Sure we can beat up on these little pissant countries although we no longer seem to have the balls to actually finish the job. If we're so tough then why don't we take out North Korea. Or how about China? In reality all we are is the schoolyard bully taking the lunch money from 3rd graders whose ass we can kick because we've been left behind a few grades.
LOLOLOLOL!!!! Yeah. What I like on the Intels are the mobos. The high-ends support 6 DDR3 slots and can take up to 2166 GHz DDR3 (2333 overclocked), and they're only maybe $150 bucks more expensive than the high-end socket AM3's. The regular 1333 GHz DDR3's on the Phenom II motherboards are only marginally faster than the 1066 DDR2's, except that they also improved the pipeline-burst part (meaning your best-case performance is better). Thing is, if you're in pipe
CO2 is a life cycle gas though, not a conventional pollutant. Same deal on methane, which almost entirely comes from live stock. If AGW is a joke, there is no cause for reducing it.
But if you look at the ways being looked at to reduce our carbon footprint, they almost always (or even always?) go hand-in-hand with reducing air pollution or fighting deforestation. These have long been good things before GW. There's new evidence c
