Halo MOD?

Halo MOD?

Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

i think if we dont know how to contact them it just means we have a life outside of the internet and halo.

if they had a life other than halo, why make a halo mod? ;p

though i fully support having a life, and i <3 halo.

May i request permision from Canadaman or any other person working hard on this mod to contact bungie as a representative for Sins of the Prophets? I will be as gentlemanly and respectfull as possible while asking for insight on halo lore to stay as close to canon as we possibly can. Considering bungie must get hundreds of emails a day, im assuming it will take a day to a week for a response and i will inform the correct people any information i recieve.

Totally cool, but 100% irrelevent to any discussion being held at the moment.

that video is a fake. the flames are a clear sign of a combustion reaction. a rail gun has no such reaction occurring or any chemical reaction.

Well, technically it can heat the air surrounding it to a point where it will combust. Moving projectiles generate friction via heat. Look at the Apollo re-entry vehicles and the Space Shuttle. Look at all that fire coming off them. Friction=heat.

Railgun on wikipedia.

wow owned

i stand corrected IF wiki is right. from the evidence i had(the video)one only saw the flames coming out of the barrel. the quality of the video and the camera angles could have been better.

the wiki is accurate (at least as far as that pic goes). the united states navy is indeed developing a rail gun for long-range fire support, and has been featured on "future weapons". unless it's a government conspiracy (and we all know we can trust the u.s. government to be honest with us ;) ), this thing is legit.

Air doesn't combust the projectile does.

actually, combustion most commonly refers to when a fuel combines with air and burns/goes boom as a result of a chemical reaction, which can be aided by high temperatures; in this case, heat in the form of friction (as SpardaSon21 pointed out). so air does combust. also, i think you mean that the projectile's propellant combusts.

Combustion

yeah machina maniac is right(im a chem major) and we all know the government would never lie to us?

Just like with Area 51. Obviously there's nothing secret there, right?
...
Right?

And now that Bungie.net is working for me again,
Private Message Lukems, Shishka, etc.

done, and

Admit your not true halo fans if you don't already know how to contact bungie.

done.

can we have an update on the mod?

What reacts with the oxygen in the air?
Nitrogen could but it is fairly unreactive and would not cause that much flames.
The Tungsten could react but my knowledge of the properties of tungsten is not that great.
I am just not sure on that picture.

Why are we discussing this anyway?
We have nothing else to argue about.

when something goes that fast(this is one of the reasons rail guns will be better in space) it creates enough friction to melt and burn(metal does burn) just think of an object entering the atmosphere like a meteor.
Tungsten melts at 3695 K(General this means that a higher temperature is required to react with oxygen). I am not sure their is enough energy generated by friction to cause it to react with oxygen. Remember flames are just a excited gases which give of light as they lose energy.

Back on topic.
Any news on the mod.

um flames are not the byproduct of excited gasses if it were just excited gasses it would be light. if you run a current through a tube of pure hydrogen it glows pinkish white. think of a neon sign for excited gasses. flames are the result of a chemical reaction. thermite gives off flames withought reacting with oxygen. a thermite reaction is a single replacement Al + FeO = AlO Fe
