My Homeworld Mod

This is my first attempt at a conversion and I am still learning. I have the Kushan(TEC) and Taiidan(Vasari) playable. I have played the Kushan on a huge FFA map to the end. I didn't add the motherships because I can't decide what role they would play other than a huge carrier. I made the Homeworld corvettes as frigates, HW frigates as cruisers, and well, Cap ships are Cap ships. I made the cloak generator as a planetmodule. which will cloak your modules and ships in an area of effect, but not planets. The gravwell generator is mobile, blocking phase jumping in an area for a little longer time than the phase block module. to keep the enemy from fleeing. Added a few derlicts to fill out the ship slots and made a missile corvette for the Taiidan. I will add the Kadesh next in the Advent slot and eventually the Turanic Raiders as pirates (and make them playjable). Thanks to Sierra, Relic and anyone associated with this great game, Homeworld.

You do not need 3Ds Max. You can download XSI for free and use that to model, although it is hard to use, and a lot of people have problems with it not working correctly. 3Ds Max is prefered because it is what DANMAN uses, so there is less work involved for him when he makes the ships ready for use in game. But again, you can use just about any 3D program to help out, if you want to.

I can't argue with that. XSI is a pain. However, it is necessary if you ever want to see your models in Sins. To open mesh files, you have to use 3Ds Max, unfortunetly. There is no other way (that I know of) to open and edit them. Changing the UV mapping, again, I can not help you with. To rotate you model in XSI, press "C". Then drag the colored circles until you rotate it how you want.

Annyways, i made a post about that topic a while ago so... Homeworld discussions.

Wraith i was just wondering if you changed the textures on the taiidan. i would like to see them yellow. Also, if possiple, add the kadeshi. I dont know how to do that. I've been seeing .big file extractors for HW but it doesnt work.

And did you make the mesh yourself? just wondering because it looks super accurate.:)

I started tweaking the Eng. String so it shows the name of the ship instead of ex: Hoshiro robotics cruiser is now Matriarch support frigate.

I dont believe so, I think he got them out of Homeworld 1, which is now open source.

As for the Kadeshi being added, that might just be a pipe dream until wraith gets back into the loop. I don't know if anyone has noticed but he hasn't been on for a pretty long time.

Ya but depending on you're defenition of a long time. He told me that he's working on the v1.15 one on March 5th. Mods do take a long...long...loooooonnnnnggggg time...so i've heard. but i would try making the kadeshi needleship mesh myself but that program 'Spooky Rat' the one to open HW .big files doesnt work on my comp.

I also think the particle should be different to. The exaust trail and the Hyperspace might look better if they where more 'Homeworldish'. Also the textures. They are really good but theres black where the yellow should be on most of the ships. and the carrier's orrange on the top is black to. Im not angry at it it's actually amazingly accurate.

Also, some of the ships well actually 3, the reaserch ship, savage and repair corvettes. The salvage corvette should be the colony frigate and the reaserch ship should be the well, reaserch station, and the repair corvette should be the module constructor. Its just that well i mixed you're mod with solar sins 2.0 to make it compatible with v1.15 so i can have my own personal mod. It worked!:)   So the colony ship can salvage derelict ships so you kinda see my point.

One more idea. Switch the missile destroyer to be the support cap. ship and make the Khar-Toba the colony cap. ship.

Are you talking about star bases? Because this mod is for v1.15 not entrenchment.

Ya by this summer. He Private Messaged me telling me that he is working on the v1.15 of thim mod right now. I dont know why but he doesnt answer the forum much. If you read the forum you would know this. I wish i could help him but i dont have a good 3D modelling program. In other words, XSI is horrible. and i cant do texturing.:(  

But i can combine mods. Thats the easyest thing to do. I made my own personal mod of HW, SoaGE and solar sins. Compatible with V1.15. Im also working on making our solar system planets ex: Earth, Mars, etc...yes ive heard of cybdevil...he's taking for ever to.

And im buying Entrenchment soon annyways so i honestly dont care.

WAKE UP CALL!!!

So how far are you Wraith? Im not being impatient. Just need to know if it'll be a day, a month, a year, a centurie. just like to know these things so i dont wais my time at the comp...ok i do that a lot because my mod. But if someone tells me how to open the uv mapping in paint i want to make Kharak. It honestly could be easy. I just need to base it off of the Desert_02 planet because it looks like kharak and add two images. Side one, the banded desert shown on the game and the other side shown on a map of tha kharak system i found a while back. And the hardest part will be alligning the polar regions perfactly. Wow this is turning info a pretty li=ong paragraph...

No more details 'till im done. Im kinda just making wakeup calls every now and then because Wraith doesnt answer his forum!!!

If you're wondering, i now right in green. Its cooler.

I am still here. I am converting this mod to Entrenchment 1.03. I have Kushan and Taiidan done except for the icons, which I just got done working on. 2:48 am here so I am quitting and going to bed. Sorry for no updates will try to do better. PS, been playing alot of Fallout 3.

Is it possible to transfer models from HW2 to Sins? Perhaps models from B5 WWE mod for HW2 (with the permission of the modders)?

(Somebody is already doing a B5 mod.) I have run into a problem. I can play as taiidan against advent, i can play as Taiidan against Kushan. as kushan against advent, but when I play as kushan against taiidan I get a minidump when the metal count is 3322 every time. Can't figure it out. I have tech as kushan and vasari as taiidan. advent is still advent. i can also play as taiidan against kushan and advent, but not as advent against taiidan and kushan and not as kushan against taiidan and advent. always at metal count 3322.

Found the problem. Somehow the taiidan scout got corrupted.
