Having just read weapons of choice, I have to say that its a decidedly sub-par series. The author is a good writer, but he jumps around too much. The time gaps between books is annoying, at best, and he frequently forgets to detail important events / concepts, such as Sanction 3 / Sanction 5. Sanction 4 ends up clearly spelled out, but you have to guess at 3 / 5, and given the important 5 at least plays at one point, thats bad. And the way he frequently just doesn't bother with certa

Suggestions: -As it is, if you find a special with the first level of exploration, you will never find anything with the second level. This needs to be fixed. Incorrect, I have frequently found things on the second exploration after having found something with the first. Best example is the kalanite deposits / expert miners connection. I don't remember which comes first, but you get one then the other (and they are always paired. An

Eh, I prefer cielo's for shield regeneration improvement -- their cheaper than the Dunov. Dunov is useful, but the limited numbers of capships are, IMO, better spent on Sova's / Kols, both of which represent powers that can't be reproduced via cruisers.

Also, would be nice to see some shots missing the target (even if the engine doesn't support this, just a visual effet and no change in the damages would make really more realistic). Devs have already stated that with the exception of fighters (who are fast and maneuverable enough to generate a miss) technology has advanced to the point where missing is impossible. AKA: You can always hit what your aiming at, unless it can move away from your sh

Consider the Opera Diva... or the irrational rock star. Do you complain when they ask you to get 20000 yellow M&Ms or do you go out and get them because that's what needs to happen to get them to play? Um, yes. He wouldn't have been stupid enough to tell you to kill him and then left the means for Fontaine to save the city. While I agree that he shouldn't have left the means to disable the

Its based in those circular space stations you see in cheesy space movies. You know, the one that looks like a donut and it spins? I don't know about cheesy space movies, but its far from a cheesy design. In fact, its a cheap and (relatively easy) design to give you artificial gravity! Oh, and are you sure it looks like a donut, not more like a bicycle wheel? (Spokes heading out from a center docking port...)

I would like to request that we are allowed to choose the background color for our games, I dont want a red background just because i choose the color red .. or a green one if i choose a green color.. I like a dark blue background no matter the icon color i choose to play.please this is so annoying can we get a fix for it please ... What are you talking about? Stellar backgrounds are chosen randomly f

Cons: Horrible Horrible slowdown with every passing turn, that even affected the cursor. Yeah, BOTF had a nasty memory leak. You can improve performance by manually de-compressing all the data files, though. (As well as restarting the program from time to time).

Then obviously you aren't going to be able to avoid them if they, as Kryo said, can fire in all planes. You don't quite understand. He's used to thinking in a 2D format that lets you put a "ring" of defenses around an area. But if you can fly over that ring, you're now inside the vulnerable parts of the base (what he's talking about). Problem is you can't ring your system with these, so thats a moot point anyway. Its far more effective j

As it is setup now though, they are chasing trade ships instead of blowing up the Trade Port/Refinery/Broadcast Centers. Which doesn't make sense as all three of those structures far exceeds any minor hit you may incur to the opponents credits and resources by blowing up their Trade/Refinery ships. Except the trade ships are probably from other systems -- you can take out the economy boost from those systems as well as this one with a little

Um, no. Fontaine have needed to die to a much larger degree than Ryan did, but Ryan is no saint. He tried to kill Rapture himself, at least twice in the in-game storyline, and his actions elsewhere were hardly awe-inspiring. Introducing the death penalty over smuggling ? Or how about picking up "Fontaine Futuristics" as part of his own personal fiefdom by having the law seize it for him? Ryan was no Captain of Industry, just a common Robber Baron who needed to be slapped down

My primary reason to feeling the need to remind people of our heritege is that instinctually we are still very similar to monkeys in our emotional and base drives. And isn't out genetic code somewhere around 99.9% identical?

did you just cite wiki as a reliable source? Only informative That said, in a recent scientific survey, wiki was found to have less errors on average than the Encyclopedia Britannica!

i made it readable... yeah, you did. he post you skipped over... Eh, more like spent 3 seconds on before deciding that if I can't get past the first sentence, its not worth the time. OK, I skipped over it. And its not like you labeled it as a quote! Trade and Refinery ships should be reduced in priority for combat ships to the point that they come after any opposing

Wrong. As was said above, you can easily avoid gauss cannons by flying over them or under them, making them useless against a human player. And they aren't already useless? Assuming my ships weren't stupid enough to jump in right on top of them, just fly around the cannons. To really be effective, cannons should be placed right up against whatever they are protecting, preferably a few repair centers and a bunch of hangars.

Hmmm 8 command cruisers eh, well I'll give it a shot, Please note I tend to operate in large fleets -- smaller groups don't need as many vessels. But support vessels like the Hoshiko / Cielo aren't something to drop in in ones or twos to your overall fleet, they need to be a major part of your force to have any real effect, same as any other unit (except capitols, they're like dozens of ships rolled into one <img src="http://images.

Has any progress been made on the lockup-on-save-load issue? Or is there anything we the players can do to help the devs with it? Please, any and all information would be appreciated. -Just had to press the power button

./sigh. I'll have to dig up the research, its 4+ years old so I don't know *where* I'll find it. This is from the same rough time frame as the original article I read (while doing a term paper). Here's a more recent one... Still not quite what I was originally looking at, but it points to the fact that

What do mean? Like when queuing orders and you want to cancel one of them? Well, if you've ever played supreme commander thats the general idea of a good system. You que up orders, and if you want to change one you can use the shift key to drag and drop it, and I think it was shift+right click to remove it entirely. Any waypoint, in any order.
