From what I've heard (I don't follow the forums are religiously as I used to, alas) I don't think the AI is 100% implemented, nor are some of the new features.

The ending of last nights episode was... absurd. The entire thing was way to predictable. The thing that drove me nuts the most, though, was the whole slingshot manuever. You don't 'gain' speed from a slingshot manuever -- Farscape not withstanding -- you change it, aligning yourself with a new trajectory. That entire section just showed a poor understanding of space navigation. They could see destiny? How close did it have to be to p
well, yeah... but the next page will fix it!

Patch day patch day I love patch day!
EA isn't as bad is they used to be. They puttin out new IPs guys!
You're joking, right?
I'm in a computer graphics course this semester, and we get to pick our own topics for a project. A friend and I both want to go into game programming, and decided we felt like doing something in that direction. Our project, so far, is 'rendering'... ...And I'm wondering if anyone out there can point at some useful information / resources / papers for someone looking to work on this stuff? Wiki is great to start, but we need to work out into the direct
I dunno if I'm there, but hell, the mod will be WAY closer than the current balance.
Right up until someone figures out which unit is 'god' and spams it :D
I'd go digital. Saves S&H, and it doesn't exactly cost you anything.
(2) They just can't think of anything to add in for a third expansion, but I doubt that that's the case since it seems like they'd think of something as long as there were still money to be made.
It could be they've run out of ideas that can be practicaly done for an expansion.
if the gains were closer to 'Mad Scientist' level (200%, instead of 40%, etc). why? if armor and hull points are upgraded at the same rate as weapon damages, then 200% is as good as 20%, its just another zero for the computer to think about...
Increases the differences between low tech and high tech players. So a playe rwho focuses on tech gets an even bigger advantage.
this Erictred1 guy is kinda annoying. Trolls should live under bridges, not in forums. What is the requirment for banishment? anyone know?
Continued violation of the rules, as adjudicated by Kryo (the more severe the violation, the quicker the ban, with fewer warnings). Just hit 'report' whenever he goes out of line, and eventually he'll get shut down.
ok so i posted earlier that my ships were glowing colors and team colors R OFF the ships r glowing with the color u pick for ur icon and stuff is there a fix for this??
They know about the problem, it's low on their priorities. If you have photoshop, you can fix it yourself -- the instructions have been posted in the thread multiple times. Also, turn off team colors in optinos works.

Of course they are! The difference in scale makes that essential.
Actually, there is an install limit, it's just that you aren't going to run into it. They've done a superb job at hiding it from the average joe (I think it's time, rather than count, based, so if you upgrade every 6 months they don't care, it's if you install 10 times in one day they take note).
sad this will be the last expansion for sins... Wait... this means Sins 2 might be 'on the plate' soon! Woot, yet another beta to be involved in!
Somebody posted a good copy of that file for individual download a page or two back. Just overwrite the corrupted one with it and you should be good to go!
I managed to miss that post :( Edit: Completely can't find it.
One reason surely is, that the game only uses a single core, although advertised as multicore.
The game does use multiple cores, just not as efficiently or heavily as desired. The primary use is for texture loading, which doesn't happen constantly. That said, another cause of slowdowns (a major one) is large amounts of civilian traffic (i. e. lots of trade centers).
Oridian, I haven't had a chance to drop by in a while, but thank you very much for all the hard work, time, and effort you have put into this mod!
Are there any workarounds for the constant and monotonously continuos crashes?
Normally, I'm the one leading the charge to defend SD, IC, and the like. But at this point, I find myself almost in agreement: they need to do something. The last news item was 3 months ago, about the last patch. Even if they cant' release information on the next mini expansion (Why? By now at least a few of the features they plan on adding should be locked enough to say 'New Diplomatic System: Make friends and influence people!' or
Guys, please bear in mind that having devs posting regularly in and of itself as we've had in the past is an oddity in the industry. It's not at all unusual for them to be quietly working on the next update/project.
QFT
Oh! Erm... sorry; I guess I don't pay as much attention around here as I should.
Might I inquire as to where the old patch downloads?
Who knows? Some websites might have kept a copy of it, but I don't think there is one around here. No point to it since they have Impulse to keep you up to date -- you really are supposed to run the most recent version. (Yes, that means some mods won't work... complain to the modmaker!)
At the very least have a little blurb in the FAQ that says "Sorry, we don't allow pay
